Hey, also a native Chinese speaker here! In response to @/PinkieEmoMangle1 - it depends on how you read the sentence!
The string of text is "已被养育成人的少年", which can be read as "the youth, who had been raised till adulthood" if you read "成人" collectively as a noun, or "the youth, who had been raised as a human", if you read "成" as a verb (attached to 已被养育) and "人" as the noun!
In any normal circumstance, obviously the second interpretation wouldn't make sense; but as Ithaqua's entire concept is about letting go of his humanity, there's a whole focus on him being human - or not human. His ideals towards human society are a pivotal point in his story, and therefore the possibility has to be considered - but it's more likely the more direct interpretation, or possibly a play on words to convey both! We really can't know, but he's more likely an adult (given his twin brother was sent on a manhunt, and you usually wouldn't ask a child to lead one)...
This is written in Jiaguwen (甲骨文), an ancient Chinese language used last in the Shang Dynasty! It's also the stuff written on Wu Chang's umbrella!
For a deciphering - I'm sorry, but you'll need to consult someone with a degree in Chinese archaelogy! Nobody knows how to read that, anymore...
For trial cards, those always come in events! For unlock cards, those are usually for newer players only! To buy them outright - I'd suggest playing plenty of matches every day~
Ooh, that's really Nice!
(But still a bit weird, since his name is just "Ronald" in most other languages...)
He's a Nice Guy now! We gotta respect NetEase's decision :D!
(But in all seriousness... W h y?? Ronald of Nice sounds too goofy, what were the translators thinking?)
Sending this again on here~
I'd personally suggest allowing comments on anything that won't affect overall performance (stuff that won't cause drama, abandoned pages that need suggestions), as well as lore pages (as we sometimes get things wrong)! Although, lore pages for characters who may have problematic stories/beliefs will need to be comment locked!
In terms of purely informational pages, most users won't find the need to comment; disabling comments is optional for those, but may serve as better organization!
Hello, and welcome to the identity v wiki! We're glad to have you here~
Update: I've got my hands on map permissions, and here's the map of Belostain! I'll also work on interactive maps for in-game maps too, and possible maps for Golden Rose/Lone Moon as well!
Helloooo!! First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to send suggestions here - we absolutely appreciate it!
Regarding copy-pasting in the lore pages; should we put the summary/overview after the Deductions Quest section?
I've only worked on Naiad's lore page (link to overview/summary) but I can definitely see how it's an issue - for starters, her English rumor's a huge lore dump in the first place, while her original Chinese rumor is much shorter: "Those who are unable to express will eventually be slaughtered like fish. After understanding this, Grace picked up her harpoon."
Her different backstories also have different alterations but are the same big idea (and many other characters do too) - so, should we index all of them, or just leave an overview of all of them combined and link all the other official versions?
---
Regarding story events, I've never realized that we lacked summaries - thank you so much for pointing that out! I've only been able to do a summary for Oath of the Traitors (CN 3rd Anniversary), but I'll try to work on the others once I have time! By the way, is the formatting/length for my summary alright? Anything to add or change?
We're also currently indexing Truth & Inference stuff too - last week, I have brought up making lore and gallery tabs for all costumes (characters) in the Truth & Inference storylines! The idea hasn't been approved by the other moderators and admin yet, so I'll bump that up!
In terms of the Belostain map - unfortunately, only a few of the wiki members have the technical rights to make or edit maps on the wiki, and I'm not one of them! I'll ask for the permissions now, though!
Once again, thank you so much for your advice and suggestions, and we've already forwarded this to the wiki discord for further discussion on how to implement certain additions and changes~
Graffiti leaks with given names or of already-existing graffiti sets are alright!
I don't think graffiti leaks will affect NetEase's revenue - there isn't much of a point of another company copying an unreleased graffiti, and there never was much hype for graffitis in the first place among our playerbase.
Of course, in term of accessory, skin and character leaks (ones that haven't been implemented in-game yet) - those are a huge no!
This also goes for any content that as marketable value (that other companies could possibly copy, or the playerbase would be hyped over), content of unreleased characters, and game files of events that haven't been added to the game!
Ohohoo,,
In the Chinese version of the trailer, Margie is referred to as his woman (女人) - obviously censorship. It's weird, however, as saying that Margie is Sergei's mistress means that Sergei is married to someone else and is cheating on his wife with Margie... But, Margie is his wife - uh, translation error? Or do we have a whole relationship web on our hands?
Also, in terms of languages; English tones it down, but the line in Chinese (Stepped into that man's tent - 踏进了那个男人的帐篷里) practically confirms that they did indeed spend the night.
Now, there's also another thing to consider; the Moonlit River Park backstory, from a news article's perspective. "The only survivor was a young woman who leaped into the Moonlit River, escaping through the water flowing beneath the walls."
Why was it Margaretha who lived? Did Joker let her go or make sure she lived because he still loved her? Did she know from the start that he would do something insane? Did she purposely lead him on, so he would create a tragedy and she could escape from Sergei and her life in the circus? Was she, instead of trying to escape, trying to drown herself - either because she did indeed love Sergei and her life at the circus, or because she could not bear seeing Joker do such a thing?
Haha... Quite interesting!!
Ooh, I'll take a look into that one too! Although, since such a well-though and in-depth post might not be perfect for a discussion post about the NGP Discord - would it be alright to repost it and anything else you might find on my message wall or on the character pages and pinging me? Thank you so much for the food for thought, by the way!!
But yeah, we will be tackling misinformation asap!!
Hmm, I see- I believe Wallace may have been quick to compare NGP with the official server, and may have jumped to conclusions, in that case.
We are reconsidering whether or not to remove the post with the moderation team and the NGP staff team (who may not be online due to timezones), and also waiting for a response from OP - we can't delete a post if the original poster may have made a mistake and is willing to re-word their post!
Your edits are looking great - I don't think anything needs to be changed content-wise, but I may need to polish a bit for Wu Chang's trivia (text, wording and standardization). It seems that many users do not bother to click onto a character's /lore page, which may be the reason why misinformation is spread; they look at the trivia, go "Oh, it's not there, - must be because it's not true", and then confirm their potentially incorrect theory. The lore pages may be tiring to read, so we may discuss a reformat of those too.
Regarding the misinformation - I'll discuss with the lore team and see what I can do! I don't think we can do anything about Mexican Norton, but the others can be easily refuted with solid evidence~
I haven't been able to interact with the community much due to having spent less time on social media, but I'll definitely try to catch up now!
Adding onto Wallace's post: We are in contact with the staff at the moment, and looking to find the whole story! It's innocent till proven guilty, and though we do have screenshots against the banned members (reasons they were banned, proof that they started arguments etc.), we should at least give them a chance to explain and provide evidence. Additionally, it's hard to confirm who's who when online, so we can't condemn anyone if they don't drop their discord tag and we can confirm they're them!
You are most likely right, but we also have to consider the possibility of a mistake. Of course, this should all be cleared up by the staff's response! Additionally, the wiki discussion posts promote freedom of speech, and we also are unable to ensure that the mentioned topics do not occur within the NGP server. Although we do want to promote activity within the discord, we cannot take this post down without confirmation.
In terms of wiki misinformation - have you contacted us about this before? It does get a bit difficult for me finding out what the users think as I don't have twitter nor instagram, so I unfortunately didn't know about how the community believes Wax Artist is (intentionally) racist or how Wu Chang are brothers; I'll be reviewing both of their lore pages now, and do tell me if the added explanations clear the lore up a bit!
Additionally, apologies about that - I have removed the link but kept the text up for reference as the original poster did mention twitter posts and their content; (and if anything goes wrong, you still have evidence of the situation and what I've posted)!
Hmm, I see! As a Chinese speaker, I will pass this message on to the moderators - if the reason of their silence if the language barrier.
I think the r slur getting a pass is also a cultural gap - the r slur equivalent in Chinese (白痴, equivalent of r slur, or 有病, "ill in the mind") is actually an insult that is not a swear not slur, often used affectionately or playfully. Of course, even given that, the moderators shouldn't have let that slide either!
While I do believe the server staff should do better at moderation, given that the server is official, we do need to consider that China, the game's home country, is currently in a difficult position economically and that hiring new workers may be challenging for firms - especially after the videogame restrictions. Of course, that doesn't mean it's alright to hurt users either - we'll see what we can do and what path of action we can take! I've also messaged concerning the userbase's discontent!
And yeah, as long as it's a warning and not a callout post, the post does not break any guidelines! Although, since we are collaborating with the NGP Discord, we do need to dabble here and there for anything regarding it~
Yes, "social justice topics" is against the rules as of now! I believe it's meant to stop drama from happening, as it is very difficult to regulate due to how the matter is and also considering that the majority of the NGP staff team may not be able to speak English as a first language.
Additionally; I have seen one of the twitter posts, and it seems there as been a misunderstanding - one of the bans was actually due to a slur directed from the banned member to another user (the f slur, to be specific) in discord DMs. I do not have the entire story, but this is the only side I have with evidence - so I'll have to trust that all bans were actually due to harassment in DMs and not because of Moderators abusing their rights.
In terms of inc//st, I believe the moderators did not take action because it is completely legal in mainland China, and the term usually only refers to blood relatives there. There's an information gap - and they did dig themselves into a hole for not knowing the global perception of the matter in the English community.
Although, I believe the wiki does need to make clear that Black Guard and White Guard have no blood relation whatsoever, were not raised together by the same person nor parent, and are only brothers by oath. This may also help avoid further comparisons with problematic ships from other fandoms.
I will also be discussing this with the NGP staff; in Chinese, for ease of communication, and we'll see what we can do to clear up the misunderstanding.
But, would it be alright to link the twitter posts you're talking about as evidence? I don't have a twitter account, sorry!
Hello! We are very sorry for your misfortunes in the NGP server; but, as this is a wiki, would it be alright to link/embed a evidence of this happening? We do trust that you are speaking the truth, but since non-opinion discussions on the wiki have to be based on factual evidence, we do need proof provided.
I believe you are referring to the June 2 situation, but I may not have the full story from both sides. Is there anything you might want us to know? Feel free to private message me on discord (Mawile94#7532) or any of the other staff if you would prefer not to share in public!
Additionally, the current moderation of the server has improved, and the users there are much more friendly! It is a pity that the situation was horrible back then, but I think we should give NGP another chance,,!
We do have a page for Composer - here it is!
Apologies for the confusion, though; I'll make a redirect too~
Helloooo! It's great to see another member of the identity v wiki team here~
The majority of our plans are discussed on our wiki discord server for convenience, but we haven't done a large-scale collaboration recently - most of our plans are individual (for example, I'm currently working on character lore, "In Other Languages" template, translations, and general page formatting)!
However, I believe we all are thinking of the initiative of working on gameplay aspect pages more + tournament info~
Official identity v server is https://discord.com/invite/identityvofficial
As for our wiki server, I've made an invite too~ https://discord.gg/PqqTZBUySk
