"Dogma" is a prisoner that is befriended by Amanda Gaddis.

Appearance[]

"Dogma" is an extremely tall woman with long black hair and wears a brown apron.

Compiled Overview[]

Background[]

Little is known about "Dogma." She used to work at the Haarlem Plantation, laboring in the flower fields.[2] At some point, she would be arrested for the Haarlem Plantation Marigold Murder, being called the Marigold Killer and sent to Het Arresthuis[3] where Amanda Gaddis's father worked. Philippe would also use her arrest for his pseudoscientific research on physiognomy.

While in jail, she befriended a young Amanda, telling her stories of her time working in the fields and answering her questions. Eventually, "Dogma" was scheduled to be hung. To save her, Amanda caused a commotion to distract the officers, falling down the stairs. While distracted, individuals in robes would emerge and retrieve both "Dogma" and Amanda, breaking them out of the prison. "Dogma" and Amanda would both become Followers of the Eye of Darkness, joining their rescuers.

Sometime after their breakout, the followers decided to take "Dogma" in as a perfect candidate.[4] She would soon vanish for the ritual, leaving Amanda only a message to express how sorry she was, that she hoped she would find a new life, and that she was glad she would no longer have the nightmares.[5] It is unknown where Dogma went nor what happened to her.[6]

Alternate Theories and Conclusions[]

  • It is unknown whether or not "Dogma" actually killed anyone. It is speculated that she was simply blamed due to her abnormal appearance.
  • In Lanternist's Backstory Trailer, Luca Balsa is shown to be in the same prison as "Dogma." Based on that, it is possible the two knew each other.
