Affection System is a Main Story-related feature. This is said to act as a prelude to the next main story update, Cage of Yesteryear. The player can learn more about the character backstories of Novelist (Orpheus), Entomologist (Melly Plinius), and Prospector (Norton Campbell) by playing their respective minigames. To unlock this, the player must complete the Full Ashes of Memory Story. This was introduced on April 17th 2025.

Each character has one minigame, culminating in three minigames

You can gain Affection and Logic Points through these minigames. There is a weekly limit of 500 Affection for each character and 3000 Logic Points. By raising these characters' affection, you can unlock multiple rewards and learn more of about them.

Introduction[]

This introduces the characters' storylines and leads into the tutorials for their minigames. Tutorials can be found in the pages of the minigames' respective pages.

In the most perilous of environments, it's vital to understand your opponents or allies. This is the most important lesson I've learned as an investigative journalist.

About Last Night
Miss Journalist, you don't look well. Did you not sleep well?
I had a nightmare last night, but I don't quite remember what happened.
A nightmare is often a projection of fear from real life. Perhaps it's the impact of yesterday's incident at the racecourse?
Oh? Mr. "Orpheus", did you have a nightmare too?
No, not at all. I haven't had a dream in a long time.
Not even a sweet dream?
A sweet dream? That's a memory far older than any nightmare I've had.

About Music Score
Mr. Orpheus you're interested in music too?
It fascinates me, but unfortunately, I'm not good at it. Do you play the piano, Miss Reporter?
A little.
Then why don't you play me a song? I'll tell you about my new book in return.
The White Stallion of Death?
That story has been finalized. It's another story that I'm working on. A story that's even more fascinating.
I can't wait.

The Secret
I think I discovered some secrets about Mr. Orpheus last night.
If it's alright with you, we can exchange information. But not now. Maybe you can look after these plants for me first?

Of course. Please tell me what I have to do.
Thank you so much.

Sorry, I have other business to attend to. Maybe next time?
That's a pity. Then do take care of your health... and your safety.

Talk to Mr. Campbell[]

He can be found in the Dining Room, sitting in front of the table with cards in his hand.

Cutscene[]

Dialogue
An interesting game? I don't think I've ever seen it.
Tch, it's just some crude entertainment. It's only natural that a rich young lady like you has never played it before.
Maybe we can be nicer to each other, Mr. Campbell? After all, it wouldn't hurt to have one more ally here, right?
An ally? That is true, and I'll consider it if you can beat me.
