Identity V Wiki

The Basement is an underground in-game structure and is considered as the most dangerous area in the map for Survivors due to the lack of pallets and windows which aids the Hunters in eliminating survivors more easily and secured.

Survivors must avoid the basement if possible when containing the Hunter and plan carefully to rescue their teammate and ensure that they both escape from the Basement as far as possible.

Overview[]

Tips[]

As Survivor[]

  • When playing as a Survivor, a basement save is much riskier than a normal save granted it is difficult to escape and to enter. There are various ways to counter this, for example:
    • Playing Priestess and creating a portal.
    • Playing Grave Keeper and digging down a level.
    • Sneaking in, baiting a hit, and then taking one after the rescue.
    • Bringing Tide Turner or other Persona Talents that assist in rescues and escaping from the basement as far as possible.
    • Using an item to stun the Hunter before getting the save.
    • Being wary of Hunter abilities.
    • Bringing multiple people for either a distraction or to take hits.
  • Whilst playing Survivor, be wary of the basement location and try not to get downed near it. If you're kiting the hunter in its proximity, remain cautious and know when to transit quickly as far as possible.
    • It's especially important to note the basement location when you're trying to dismantle chairs. Keep your teammates away from it at all costs, or actively inform them using Quick Messages or external means. You can send "The dungeon is here!" at the start of the game to signal the basement location (Before the dungeon spawns, as to not confuse your teammates.)
    • After discover Basement there, the Share Preset Key Message will pop automatically in special situations. When you click it (Alt + V for PC with Default Key), It will transfer the message to the teammates that the Basement is there.
  • During Tide Turner, it is better to get hit by the Hunter and run away from the basement as far as possible as staying inside the basement will waste the effect.

As Hunter[]

  • When playing Hunter, it may be wise to carry Survivors past available Rocket Chairs to put them in the Basement if the Basement is close enough.
  • Take note of what particular characters the Survivors chose to try and predict what play they are going to make.
  • As a hunter, if you hit a survivor while falling down from a height, including the basement stairs, the stagger will override the hit recovery, allowing you to hit a survivor and quickly recover. Survivors receive a boost when getting hit.
    • Using Blink can help if you are on the staircase to reset your attack recovery.
  • Gamekeeper can't place Trap near and in the basement. But his hook can pull himself towards the basement wall in an inward direction from the top of stairs, and fall down from a height and override the attack recovery, allowing you to hit a survivor and recover quickly.

Trivia[]

  • Beta Testing: the basement would've contained blood leading down the stairs. It would also have arms reaching through the metal grates on the floor, and eyeless survivors with Lucky Guy's likeness trapped in its cages. Few updates later, they were removed.
  • In Tarot, Chasing Shadows and Hide and Seek mode, the basement never spawns.
