Appearance[]

Beauty Form[]

Physical[]

Michiko's face is the same as usual, with her eyes completely black and with a slight smile on her pretty face. She is wearing white foundation on her face, neck and hands, and her eyeshadow is bright orange. She has natural eyebrows. Her hair up in a typical Ofuku style, with a red cloth, silver Ōgi bira ornament and dangling purple and white flowers.

Outfit[]

Michiko is wearing a white, shiny looking kimono with faint flower and wave patterns, and very bright orange fish spaped spots on her left shoulder and long sleeves. The color of the kimono fades to silver on the ends. Her collar is silver too, and what seems to be juban (kimono undergarment) is a bright orange like the fish patterns on the kimono. The long, flowing sash she's wearing is called a Darari obi, and it's white and orange, and "torn" in a way a fish fin or tail would be. The part of the obi around her waist is ochre in color with a flower pattern, with the obiage above it silver. On the obi there is a silver ornament called a pocchiri, tied with an orange string. Her whole look gives a goldfish or koi vibe.

Weapon[]

Her fan has a bronze blade, with the fan itself being white with orange spots, decorated with purple flowers, which are also dangling from it.

Special Effects[]

Two shining, translucent goldfish swim around her at all times.

Prajna Form[]

Physical[]

Her skin is pale and fades to black at her long nails. Her mask sports an angry look, with the eyes glowing red, and the left side cracked. The horns are gold. Her hair is down and gray, with the ends fading into brown. Her face under the mask is cracked, not smiling.

Outfit[]

Michiko's kimono is now a deep greenish blue hue, fading into black at her feet and turning into white waves at her long sleeves. The waves, flowers and some of the fish on the kimono are now gold, as well as the obiage and pocchiri. The obi, collar and some of the other fish are black. The fish patterns on her sleeves turned into a shiny wave pattern, and the way the kimono is cut at the feet also resembles waves.

Weapon[]

Her fan has a gold blade, with the fan itself being greenish blue with a wave on it, decorated with gold flowers, which are also dangling from it.

Special Effects[]

Water is formed around her sleeves.

The body in the urn once admired the sea. Geisha Once Costume - Chintz is a surprise revelation. You are invited to witness her other life!

Goldfish in the bottle, Prajna in the painting
Go upstream and return to the starting point. What would happen if time were reversed and the incident that brought Geisha to the Manor had not happened?

In the costume poster, Geisha - Chintz sits on the ground with a peaceful expression, warm light shining on her body, and two goldfish swimming leisurely in the fish tank in her hand, giving people a sense of peace and beauty. But in the Ukiyo-e behind her, the ferocious Prajna is flying on the top of the waves, as if a storm is about to hit, shattering this peaceful scene.

ChintzPoster

The body is like duckweed, why fear the wind and dust?
The beautiful Geisha - Chintz wears a gorgeous performance costume. The white kimono has white cherry blossom patterns, silver wave patterns and red goldfish patterns delicately embroidered on it. It echoes with the geisha makeup of white face and red lips, creating a strong visual impact, making people look forward to her next performance; the purple cherry blossom headdress is particularly gorgeous, and also brings a bit of mystery and elegance; two goldfish are hovering nearby, causing waves of water when twisting, showing off the beauty.

When the Geisha - Chintz gentle veil switches to the Prajna phase, under the broken Prajna mask, the red eyes are captivating. On the turquoise kimono, the emerald green cherry blossoms and golden waves with gold edges are full of three-dimensionality, and the gold and black fish patterns swim with the sleeves fluttering like waves. The turbulent water patterns and bubbles were terrifying, and the hem of her skirt set off huge black waves, showing her anger and resentment.

Tossing and turning, the love is hard to break
An encounter at a banquet made Geisha willing to stay away from the stage, cross the ocean, and come to a strange country. She treated others with enthusiasm and warmth, but she could not melt the coldness of people's hearts. She "disappeared" in the prejudice, but fell into endless resentment because of the unbreakable affection, until she became a touching butterfly shadow in the Manor, which she could never let go and never fade away.

If she could go back to the fork in her destiny, would Geisha be willing to choose a life where she had never met each other or crossed the ocean? Can she really let go of everything, no more resentment or lingering?

Humanity is like a summer insect, and does not hesitate to fight the fire. An encounter made Geisha leave the stage and her hometown, and follow her lover across the ocean. However, the cold heart caused by prejudice and discrimination caused her to "disappear" and completely lost herself. If she had never sailed across the ocean, and she still staying in the familiar stage and hometown, what will be the situation?

Design Idea Plans[]

"Chintz" is a type of ornamental goldfish, and the theme of Geisha's Backdrift is to go back in time to the time when Michiko had not yet started dancing. At that time, Michiko was one of the many students who learned the art of dance. She is dazzling and her future is limitless. People say that she will definitely become a geisha who will conquer the country in the future, just like her predecessors.

The young Michiko, like her predecessors, on the one hand is looking forward to love like an ornamental goldfish in a beautiful fish tank looking forward to the sea; on the other hand, she is worried about the stories of her predecessors, it is often difficult to escape the tragic ending of being appreciated by others, but ultimately forgotten.

This longing and hidden worry about fate pulled Michiko and became a nightmare that she could not get rid of until that person arrived.

Design Idea Sketches[]

Geisha - Chintz's costume design is generally realistic, describing the young Michiko as a goldfish in a tank, yearning for the sea and love, so the focus of the expression is mainly on the goldfish and the waves.

The initial design sketches needed to be revised because the design theme and texture were too plain, and the costumes and headgear were inconsistent with Maiko.

A second design will be redesigned later. The design of this version has been improved to some extent compared to the previous version, but the design of the Prajna form does not fit well with the theme of waves and still needs to be modified.

ChintzBeta4

The third design optimizes the performance of the wave theme of the Prajna form, and adjusts the Beauty Form in details.

Finally, the details are optimized, some special effects are added and the patterns are adjusted to complete the final concept.

Amid the music, Geisha - Chintz raised the folding fan in her hand, covering half of her face with a smile on her lips and affectionate eyebrows.

ChintzShowroom2

When the drum beat sounded, Geisha - Chintz suddenly switched to the Prajna form. She released the fear in her heart and floated among the phantoms of the waves.

Trivia[]

  • Chintz is a cotton textile that is printed with multicolored designs variating patterns.
  • In this costume Michiko is depicted as a Maiko (an apprentice Geisha) rather than a fully graduated Geisha. This is evident based upon the long cloth hanging on the back of her Obi and the hair ornaments present in her hair, as well as the design notes stating so.
    • It is hard to specifically tell here, but a Maiko also uses their natural hair instead of a wig like a Geisha would, this may be the case for Michiko in this costume as well.
  • Upon purchasing this costume, the player would also receive the following B-Tier Achievement Label for their profile: "Backdrift - Geisha".
  • The costume's fan made a cameo in "Good Child"'s Trailer before being announced and released a year later.
