The Coffin and Makeup Box are exclusive tools and items for the Embalmer, Aesop Carl. Both cannot be replaced at any time by a non-exclusive item from a Chest. The Embalmer spawns with one Coffin, and can gain two more for a maximum of three Coffins in one match.
Gameplay[]
The Embalmer starts the game with a single coffin, of which he can summon and move location at will. After recording his teammates' appearances, he will be able to embalm them in the coffin, which will allow them to resurrect at the location the coffin is placed. The coffin will grant the resurrected Survivor with damage invulnerability for 7 seconds, and the Tide Turner effect for 15 seconds. Neither of these effects will trigger once the last cipher has been decoded and the Exit Gates are activated, even if they are not yet opened.
The Embalmer will gain another Coffin every time he is rescued from a Rocket Chair. The Embalmer will not gain a Coffin if he self-resurrects when placed on a chair. In order to gain another Coffin, he must be rescued by a teammate. The Embalmer cannot embalm a teammate who is "dead on chair" (who was rescued after the halfway mark, or who has already been on a Rocket Chair twice). If the Embalmer himself is dead on chair, any summoned coffin cannot be used to self-resurrect, and he must embalm a teammate in order to utilize it.
Unlike other tools, Coffins (even those containing embalmed teammates) will disappear once the Embalmer has left the match, either through the Exit Gate or by being sent back to the manor.
Appearance[]
- Coffin
The Coffin is a large, survivor-height coffin with a cross on its front. When summoned, the lid will slide down to reveal a surrogate doll.
- Makeup Box
The makeup box is a metal makeup box with padded black leather casing.
Costume Changes[]
Its appearance can be changed when the Embalmer has the following costumes equipped:
- S-Tier
- Exorcist -
- Makeup box consists of a black suitcase with silver corner bumps on its lower side, two thin golden clasps holding it shut on its right side. The inside of the suitcase is lined in red.
- Coffin is black, lined in silver, a red cross placed in its top center. The inside of the coffin is lined in red velvet cushioning.
- Phoenix -
- Makeup Box is now a dark blue with outlines of pale gold. Encrusted in the middle of the makeup box is a golden symbol.
- Coffin is now a blue egyptian sarcophagus adorned with a pair of gold wings wrapped around it, a golden Phoenix can also be seen at the top of the coffin's door. The pattern of the wings shifts from gold to blue as the feathers are further away from the center. The insides of the coffin are decorated with a galaxy pattern.
- A-Tier
- "Blindspot" (Once Series) -
- Makeup Box has been changed to a wooden mechanical briefcase with golden border.
- Coffin is wooden and resembles a school locker. "7B" is written on the front of it and there is a silver padlock on the side.
- FOX (Makeup Box only) - now consists of a bright blue rimming with the actual color being dark blue. on the front has a pattern of black and bright green checkers.
- Hamlet -
- Makeup Box turns into a silver briefcase engraved with silver thorns and roses as well as a single cross design on each face.
- Coffin is now made of stone, with a cross surrounded by rose vines engraved into its lid. The inside of the coffin is filled with cross-patterned tiles.
- Hippocampus - TBA

- Norman (Makeup Box only) - is now a briefcase with a single rolled up paper inside, the briefcase is the one in which adopted orphans use to carry their things when they leave Grace Field House.
- Toru Amuro (Makeup Box only) - is changed to a brown leather suitcase with straps on each side.
- Trickster -
- Makeup Box has been changed to look more like a mechanical suitcase, with a glowing blue section.
- Dark tentacles protrude from the case.
- Watchman
- The makeup book turns into a white leather briefcase engraved with dragon image in a circle. One side features multiple small dragon horns pointing upwards, culminating in a large pair of horns pointing downwards. It is closed with two black leather straps that turn into chains in the middle. The details are golden.
- The coffin is white, a clock face decorated with golden ornaments extending to the very bottom is placed in the middle at the top, adorned by a pair of white dragon wings. The sides have white ornaments resembling Corinthian columns. The inside of the coffin is lined in white cushioning, while the sides are black.
- Yusuke Kitagawa (Makeup Box only) - The makeup box turns white with a black fleur-de-lise emblem on one side. It is closed with two black leather straps and it is finished with black metal corners.
Accessory Changes[]
Its special effect when used can be changed when the Embalmer has the following accessories equipped:
- S-Tier
- "Not Fragile" - TBA
- Remains of Yellow Roses - The coffin will spawn surrounded by yellow roses and vines. Rather than the default "embalming surrogate" animation, Aesop will seem to place something at the foot of the coffin, alongside the pile of yellow roses.
- A-Tier
- Midnight Emissary - When the coffin is summoned a bird will fly around the coffin, emitting particle effects around it. When someone is entering the rebirth process, a pentagram will appear below them.
- Holy Sword - It adds red particles and dust to the coffin.
- Razor - Durning the summoning of a coffin, white mist is emitted from the coffin and surrounds it. A halo-like circle is made of the mist and floats above the coffin permanently. When someone is entering the rebirth process, the color of fluid will be white.
Trivia[]
- The Coffin is the only tool that will not have changes in appearance when any of Embalmer's crossover costumes are equipped. However, his makeup box's appearance will be changed in crossover costumes.
