The Costume Voting Contest is a re-occuring voting contest where players from each server get to vote for their favorite costumes from a list of nominated A-tier and S-tier cosmetics, for both Survivors and Hunters.
Once the voting period ends, the top five most picked costumes will be available for purchase in the Illusion Hall for a definite amount of time.
Event Rules[]
A set of general rules is applied to the practice of voting and for the availability of the costumes themselves. These include:
- Event-related and limited costumes, Call of the Abyss series of costumes, crossover and collaboration costumes, Logic Path costumes, and all costumes of B-Tier rarity or lower are not included in the contest's voting list.
- Players must log in and link their game ID through Facebook/Twitter/LINE to vote. Linked character ID can't be unlinked during the voting period.
- Each player has 5 votes everyday and can't make changes after voting. Player can get corresponding rewards after valid voting.
- Abusing mechanics, unfair practices and exploits can cause a costume to be disqualified from the voting contest.
- Once the voting is over, limited-time shop costumes (such as The Ripper's Soul Emissary) will be purchasable using both Fragments and Echoes, but costumes currently obtainable from Memory Spheres (such as Photographer's Moonlight Gentleman) will be purchasable using Echoes only.
Updated Rules (2022-Present)[]
- Regular voting return pool: The 8 most voted costumes will be returned to the in-game store, including 6 limited-time store costumes and 2 Essence A costumes
- The same character cannot return two costumes of the same tier at the same time. If a costume of the same tier is eligible to return, the highest number of votes will be given priority.
- The costumes that have been voted for return in two consecutive years will not be able to join in the Return of Costume Voting event for the third year.
- Additional voting return pool: The costumes that have not received the opportunity to return for two consecutive years, if they become the two costumes with the highest number of votes in the third year, except for the costumes that have been qualified for the return, they will be directed to the additional voting return pool, which will not be added in regular voting return pool.
- The costumes that have been in the store within half a year will not join the Return of Costume Voting Event.
- Limited costumes, Abyss Treasure costumes, COA Champion costumes, Crossover costumes, Logic Path costumes, ONCE costumes, and Ivory Tower costumes do not join the costume return voting.

Trivia[]
- During the 2019 voting contest, in the Chinese server, limited and event-related costumes, such as Wu Chang's Far East Wind and Magician's "Masked Gentleman", were included as nominees for this contest. After backlash by players who had originally bought these under the assumption that they wouldn't return, the cosmetics were retired from the voting list, and since then, costumes related to events or marked by the "limited" tag are no longer included as nominees.
- During the 2020 voting contest, a Japanese player guild collaborated to abuse the "obtain support" voting feature to unfairly amass votes for Yesterday in an effort to keep Count's Banquet from winning. This resulted in the disqualification of Yesterday from the 2020 contest for Global servers.[3][4]
- In the 2020 contest, for a brief period after launch, Cowboy's Misfit icon was incorrectly displayed as Whiplash, his COA III costume.
- During the 2022 contest, due to an error in the composition of the eligible costumes list, Tonight or Never was on the voting list even though according to the new voting rules of 2022 it should not have been able to return that year.[2]
