Cunning is an External Trait that belongs to the Thief, Kreacher Pierson. As an external trait, it is a bonus that the character starts the game with.

Description[]

Carries around a flashlight that temporarily immobilizes the Hunter by shining light on their face for 2 seconds. Shining the flashlight on the Hunter from any other direction for 1 seconds will silence the Hunter, disabling their abilities.
Each time the Hunter is immobilized, they will gain resistance to the flashlight's effect, increasing the time required to immobilize them again for up to 2.5 seconds or silence them again for up to 1.25 seconds.
If the Hunter is silenced again within 5 seconds after the end of the previous Silence, the duration is temporarily reduced.

Exclusive
An ample power supply allows him to use the flashlight for 50% longer.
The Thief also carries 3 high-powered flashlights, which can be set around the map to illuminate larger areas. Each flashlight can exist on the field for 40 seconds.

Gameplay[]

This trait will give the Thief a Flashlight at the beginning of every match. The Flashlight can be used to stun hunters, and/or keep them from activating their abilities for a short time. It will have a yellow durability bar, which will go down when the tool is turned on and Kreacher can use a flashlight for longer than other survivors.

When using his high-powered flashlights, the Thief can place at least 3 high-powered flashlights in front of him on the ground for 40 seconds. This allows Thief to stun the hunter without risking himself or his Fear to do so and to prepare his traps before the pursuit starts. However high-powered flashlights could not be picked up or replenished by any means and the hunter can destroy the high-powered flashlight permanently but it can be used to create some distance between the thief and the hunter.

If Thief has switch to a different item with his flashlight, he won't lose his high-powered flashlights.

Other Details[]

  • If Thief is eliminated, all of his high-powered flashlights placed around the map will despawn.

  • Buff: When Thief's Flashlight progression on the Hunter reaches 50%, the Hunter will be silenced and won't be able to use abilities for 5 seconds. If the Hunter is silenced again within 5 seconds from the first silencing, its duration will be reduced by 2 seconds to a minimum of is 1 second;
  • Nerf: The Flashlight's overall durability has been reduced by 25% (from 40 sec to 30 sec) and Cunning's durability bonus has been adjusted from 100% to 50% (from 80 sec to 45 sec);

  • Buff: Hunters will now accumulate Flashlight progress while vaulting over windows;
  • Buff: Thief now carries 3 additional high-powered Flashlights that can be placed around the map;
  • Buff: Time required to stun Hunters with the flashlight has been reduced (from 2.5 sec to 2 sec);
  • Nerf: Hunters gain a 0.1 second resistance to the Flashlight's effects every time they are stunned, for a maximum of 2.5 seconds.

  • Nerf: Reduced the number of high-powered Flashlights Thief can use in Blackjack (from 3 to 1).

  • Buff: Shining the Flashlight on the Hunter for 50% progress from any direction will silence them;
  • Nerf: Each time the Hunters are silenced they will gain resistance, increasing the time required to silence them again (up to 1.25 sec);
  • Nerf: Reduced the silencing time for Hunters' abilities (from 5 sec to 3 sec);
  • Nerf: Silencing the Hunter again within 5 seconds after the previous silencing will reduce the duration by 1.5 seconds each time, to a minimum of 0 seconds;
  • Nerf: The Flashlight's overall durability has been reduced by 13.5% (from 30 sec to 26 sec) and Cunning's durability bonus was reduced as a consequence (from 45 sec to 39 sec);
  • Nerf: The high-powered Flashlight no longer silences the Hunter;
  • Buff: In Tarot - Crystal Ball Mode, once the Crystal Ball is activated, shining the Flashlight on the Hunter for 0.5 seconds will silence them.

  • Nerf: When more than one Flashlight and/or high-powered Flashlight shine on the same Hunter at once, the accumulation of the stun and silence Progresses isn't multiplied anymore.

  • Buff In Tarot - Crystal Ball Mode, while the Crystal Ball's power is active, the depletion of the Flashlight is reduced by 50%.

  • The flashlight also used to be known as a "Torch" which is commonly how Britain refers to this item.
