Dark Side are C-tier costumes available for Survivors with available Diary reconstructions. The costume can be unlocked by reaching and successfully completing the last Diary interaction by following the stated requirements. While introduced in the early stages of Identity V, only a handful of Survivors have received Dark Side costumes since.
Every Dark Side costume can exclusively be obtained by completing character Diaries and they all share the same description. These characteristics have remained unchanged since the mechanic was first introduced, although the release schedules for individual characters' Dark Side has been inconsistent throughout the game's development and some models have been updated over time. They closely resemble Worn Clothes costumes, with minor differences occasionally present, but use a monochromatic color scheme.
Appearance[]
The character will appear in an alternate version of their Original design, with tattered and damaged clothes covered in stains and grime, and injuries on their limbs and face. Their hair assumes a grey color and their clothes appear in black and white hues. Depending on the character in question, their button eyes may have also been changed to be red.

Trivia[]
- Gardener's Dark Side model was changed to feature both gloves and less attire damage at some point in the game's development[1]. Her Dark Side icon still makes use of the original version. This situation is analogous to her Worn Clothes' latest version, which introduced similar changes to its model.
- While generally closely resembling a character's Worn Clothes model, some Dark Side costumes possess a few differences from their counterparts.
- Forward's Worn Clothes shows him wearing his rugby helmet, while in his Dark Side he appears without.
- Magician's Dark Side shows him with both gloves, a notably longer coat, scratches on his face and additional holes on his pant leg. These details are absent from his Worn Clothes model.
- Explorer's and Mercenary's Dark Side costumes closely resemble their Original costumes instead, lacking many tears and damage on their clothing present on their Worn Clothes.
- Forward's unreleased Dark Side model was visible in the Appearance Decoration Menu for an extended amount of time before its debut in Season 8. As his Diaries were still unavailable ,the costume was unobtainable.
