She gives eternal life to her followers, but who knows what the price of that gift is.

Yidhra, also known as the Dream Witch, is a Difficulty Level 3 Hunter available for purchase after the completion of the prologue. This character is one of 30 playable Hunters added to Identity V.

Everyone pays the price in different ways.

—Yidhra (Deduction Quest No. 10)

Appearance

Dream Witch

Yidhra is a curvy, slender humanoid who has very pale lavender skin with several deadened, dull violet splotches, large, empty black eyeholes with glowing red pinpoints where her eyes should be, mascara running from her eyeholes to her cheeks, emaciated arms with dark violet tattoos, dull violet hands usually splayed open with sharp, claw-like fingers, and a thick, heavy, dull violet snake's tail with a crisscross of scales and a pale yellow, segmented belly. She also wears purple lipstick. Her hair is layer upon layer of thick and glossy bluish-black curls tumbling down her shoulders, and two sharp ears grow on either side of her temples, drooping downwards.

A black blindfold covers her eyeholes, and she wears a torn and dreadfully tattered dull violet tank top with two spaghetti straps, two torn sashes, a larger, dull violet one and a smaller, dull olive one over it wrapped around her waist, and a matching choker. She wears silver bangles, two on each wrist, a silver armlet around her right forearm, and matching earrings in her ears.

Follower

Yidhra's Follower is a small, slender humanoid who has very pale lavender skin darkening to a deadened, dull violet nearing her hands and feet, a black button for her left eye, an empty black eyehole with a glowing red pinpoint for her right, a mouth fully stitched up with black thread, and straight, glossy, bluish-black hair cascading down her shoulders.

She wears a dull violet tank top, a torn, long, dull-olive-and-dull-violet skirt with long, split sides, a bunch of knotted skulls tied on the right side of her waist, and is barefoot. She carries a large, purplish-black pickaxe with the handle wrapped in white linen bandages in her right hand.

Gameplay

The Dream Witch is a highly complex Hunter that requires being able to keep track of multiple entities and quickly switch between tasks. She cannot attack and largely cannot interact with Survivors, but is able to move quickly around the map, not visible to Survivors. Her main form of interaction is by placing a Follower on each Survivor, which are visible to and can attack them, starting with one that is attached to herself and cannot despawn, with all other Followers able to be manually removed by Survivors using the Witch Mark, or if a Follower attacks the Survivor it is attached to. She can swap control between each Follower, and those not being possessed will not have a Terror Radius or a red light in front of them. Followers are able to do all normal Hunter tasks such as attacking, breaking pallets, and chairing Survivors. A Follower can only stay within a certain distance of the Survivor they are attached to, and will automatically walk back to said Survivor when the distance is exceeded.

External Traits & Abilities

Below is a list of Dream Witch's intrinsic traits and abilities. For more in-depth information, please check the individual pages.

External Traits & Abilities
External Trait Description
Hidden Dream
Hidden Dream
Yidhra conceals herself in dreams, where she gains incredible Movement Speed but she couldn't interact with objects. Survivors will not be able to see her, but Survivors will get a notification when Yidhra is within 20 meters.

Yidhra comes with a Follower that cannot be removed. This Follower follows Yidhra's footsteps and is always beside her.

Follower
Follower
Yidhra creates a Follower near a chosen Survivor.

Follower
A summoned Follower is dependent on its host and is unable to leave its host.
Hitting the host will cause the Follower to disappear.
Survivors can remove Followers using the Witch Mark.
Followers are affected by Talent, and the cooldown period for their Active Traits is independent. However, when one Follower uses an Active Trait, the cooldown of other Followers' Active Trait will be increased by 20 seconds.
Follower's movement speed and directions will remain unchanged until they are repossessed by Yidhra. Only when a Follower is controlled by Yidhra will their fear radius take effect.

Witch Mark
Witch Mark
Yidhra leaves a Witch Mark when she creates a Follower. Survivors can pick up the Witch Mark and use it to remove Followers from leeching onto self and Teammates. However, removing Followers from self consumes more time. For each additional 1/2/3/4 Survivors that Yidhra leeches onto, the time required for a Survivor to remove the Follower leeching onto them will be reduced by 0/10/15/15s. When 0/1/2/3 Survivors have been eliminated (excluding those who escaped), the time required for a Survivor to remove the Follower leeching onto them will be adjusted to 35/25/20/15s.
Ability Presence Description
Leech
Leech
0 Hold the button to select a Survivor without a Leeching Follower, and spawn a Witch Mark and a Follower at a selected location nearby. The ability's cooldown decreases by 40% when other Followers besides the host's Followers hit a Survivor.
Preach
Preach
Tap on the wheel to control Followers. There is a short cooldown between each control. Followers cannot change targets while casting a skill or attacking.
Assimilation
Assimilation
1000 Significantly decreases the cooldown of Leech skills.
Martyr
Martyr
2500 Increases control of Followers to significantly increase the Followers' movement radius.

Tips

Please press "Expand" to see tips about playing as and against this Hunter.
As Hunter:
  • Yidhra's servants have their own ability time count. Abnormal and Patroller are the best Trait options.
  • Wait to possess your follower at the beginning of a match until you find a survivor decoding. As soon as the follower walks up to the survivor, quickly possess her and terror shock them! (Usually ineffective in higher ranks)
  • Even with a leech active on the map, it's preferable to hit a survivor with the spawn follower in early game, to prevent removing the leech instantly.
  • Always summon a follower next to a survivor on a chair.
  • While Yidhra is vaulting a window, a survivor can not vault over the same window. If timed right, this can be used to your advantage while a follower is pursuing a survivor.
  • Dream Witch's main body can be used to enter Priestess' support portals, eliminating their use for other survivors.
  • Yidhra can control multiple places at once with her big amount of servants. Try placing them in different places such as undecoded cipher machines and chaired survivors at once.
  • Yidhra is best on small maps with cipher machines being close to each other, since you can easily pressure multiple ciphers at once.
  • Position the spawn point of the follower at a far corner of the map to inconvenience the survivors. Should they want to collect the anti-curse to remove a leech, they would have to go out of their way to get it.
  • If possible, force a survivor who is "dead on chair" to pick up an anti-curse by walking over the witch mark while the survivor is being ballooned. This removes an opportunity for another survivor to pick up the anti-curse and remove leeches.

As Survivor:

  • Once the game starts, do not just watch out for your heartbeat radius, but your debuffs as well. If the Central Body, Yidhra is near you, you will get a debuff that tells you that she is near. Leave your cipher immediately or try to find a kiting area. Avoid going near windows because Yidhra can vault over them and block your way and allow the Spawn Follower to reach you.
  • Yidhra relies on her followers to apply as much map pressure as possible. She loses more pressure and control if more survivors have witch marks and can remove them. Try to get a witch mark if you can, they are highlighted and you can see them without the need to find them in the first place.
  • Prime your Follower Removal at 99 or before 99 so that if you are being pressured or chased again, especially with your leech, you can remove your leech and force Yidhra to keep chasing you with Spawn Follower only or make her use her leech again, which gives you time to run away.
  • If you are about to get downed, try to get hit by your leech, so that the leech disappears, and Yidhra has to leech again, which gives a little bit of time.
  • If you are being chased by Spawn Follower, try to leave the follower's boundaries, and force them to lose control. This may not help though because it forces your Leech to start following you, however the leech stops following you once you touch it. It's not recommended to try this if you know the Dream Witch is at tier 2 presence, because it increases their boundaries significantly.
  • If a survivor is chaired, try to avoid being hit by any followers that isn't near the chair, because you can easily get downed on the rescue chair if you get hit by one far from the rescue chair.
  • If your cipher is currently being pressured by a follower, try to remove it, unless it is not your leech, thus you must get someone else to make it lose control.
  • Most Dream Witch uses Patroller trait. If you want to know how to avoid a patroller, drop a pallet or a window thats between long walls, and vault it over and over until the patroller stops because it has run out of time.
  • If you do get affected by a Patroller though, try to time its bites by interacting at the moment the patroller would usually bite to stun you.
    • Check the patroller timer as it is considered a debuff on the top right of your screen. The patroller starts biting the moment the countdown hits 14/9/4 seconds. Make sure to interact at the right timing before it hits the specified seconds.
  • Dream Witch struggles to go against certain survivors, these survivors are counters to Dream Witch;
    • Priestess can counter Dream Witch because Patroller cannot go through portals, and only one follower or the main body can go through a straight passage which prevents sandwiching and if the main body does not go through the passage, it may cause them to leave the boundary.
    • Doctor can counter Dream Witch because she can get hit by the leech, and self-heal the damage away if the Spawn follower is not close to Doctor. Healing in general also decreases Yidhra's map pressure, which Doctor excels. Other survivors who have the ability to take multiple hits can also be considered.
    • Any survivor that has mobility; examples being Cheerleader, Composer, Aeroplanist, Patient, Forward can counter Dream Witch because the only way to attack the survivors is through her followers, and her followers do not have any form of mobility to catch up to survivors quickly aside from their trait. The survivors can also use their ability to leave the Dream Witch's boundary and prevent sandwich.
  • Dream Witch can sandwich you, aka 2 or more followers chase you at the same time. To prevent this, try to leave the boundary of where you think the Main Body is as soon as possible. This makes it so that the Spawn Follower can't chase you, and the central body has to move. Characters like Mercenary, Patient, Weeping Clown, Aeroplanist is good at making distance from the main body.

Concept / Design Notes

Design Notes[6]

Regarding the recent plagiarism of Dream Witch, I have something to say. Let’s just treat me as a small planner and talk to myself...

1. First of all, about the design ideas of Dream Witch:

Dream Witch and her clones, Yidhra is a controller and a controlled person, and the puppet (clone) is the soulless party controlled by the witch. After many internal discussions, we finally decided on it - like a soulless controlled person. This posture is more in line with the setting of a puppet.

Based on this setting, the character's temperament has also changed from light taste to heavy taste (beautiful magic → realistic horror) (temperament reference is shown in picture 1).

DreamWitchReference

Regarding why the clone is holding a pickaxe. The Dream Witch's doppelgänger has a prototype - Karla Faye Tucker, a relatively famous female pickaxe killer. Therefore, we chose the pickaxe as the weapon for the Dream Witch clone.

KarlaFayeTucker

About why the image is of unwashed shawl hair. There have been several versions of the puppet character's hairstyle, which are basically shawl settings, with headbands, long styles, and cut and layered hairstyles. In the end, it was decided to use dirty hair to make the character more suitable for the horror image. And it is also closer to the prototype to a certain extent.

About why it is a rickety posture. We also tried an overhead pose, but the rickety pose was more in line with the setting of a soulless controlled person.

DreamWitchConceptArt5

2. Yidhra (Dream Witch)’s positioning in the Cthulhu system is somewhat similar to the “Earth Mother”, so the shape uses a snake tail symbolizing fertility, and the sheep’s ears on the head represent the union and division of various creatures. Also opposed to Shub-Niggurath's leg of lamb.

As the son of Yidhra who was swallowed and spit out by the god, the prototype of the clone comes from Karla Faye Tucker, who uses a pickaxe, has a slender figure and long curly hair.

3. The design process diagram of Dream Witch

4. As for the definition of plagiarism, from my point of view, the design of the original painting includes: rubbing outline, color, rotation and angle, etc. without re-doing or opportunism. Processing and replica production. We are designing in a game style based on needs and reality. Any similarity is purely coincidental.

The last picture involving plagiarism is just an image that fits the character based on the character setting. The actual images of the puppets in the game are diverse. I hope that after the Dream Witch real record is exposed, everyone can define it~

Design Notes[7]

DreamWitchDesignNotesRBCN

The name comes from the Outer God of Cthulhu Mythos, who is described as a young and charming woman. Regarding the design, the team had two opinions: one was to return to the weird and terrifying original style, and the other was to conform to the description of mythology. We chose to go back to the original design style reference: Tim Burton's eerie dark humor style. Can this style express horror? We didn't want to use blood and body to destroy this common horror element, but used a clear outline to summarize the frightening shape of a sheep-eared snake. In the draft, there is a visual design of a witch and a follower in order to make the two seem related to each other. Once the witch was decided upon, the design of the follower would naturally come after.
