Edmund Reed is a sheriff. He participated in Group 2's Manor Game to investigate the case involving Jack the Ripper.
Compiled Overview[]
Background[]
Before the events at the Manor, The Ripper murdered five female victims in England and managed to escape without being caught. Edmund was likely a part of the investigation and was sent after The Ripper, which led him to become a participant in Group 2's Manor Game.
Events at the Manor[]
Little is currently known about Edmund's time at the Manor.
During his time at the Manor, a letter was addressed to Edmund by one of his game's participants claiming him to be indirectly at fault for the Keigan's murder by The Ripper, because of him delaying justice by wanting to give The Ripper a proper trial before his conviction.[1]
In his notebook, Edmund wrote his own opinion on what happened, saying it was a “baseless assumption” as he was not the one who harmed her. Despite the accusation, he believed that the writer is trying to make a deal with him, and is on the side of justice based on his key testimonies that happened prior to Keigan's death. He believed what happened to Keigan matched the victims of The Ripper. Due to the trial being cancelled because of to Keigan's death, both he and the writer are trapped in a stalemate inside the Manor with The Ripper and Edmund must take actions before The Ripper makes his next move to kill them for knowing too much information about him and his crimes.
As he ended the letter, Edmund promised to himself that if justice is not found for the crime, then he would no longer exercise his power as a police officer.[2]
Alternate Theories and Conclusions[]
- Edmund seems to be based on the real life British Detective Inspector Edmund Reid.
- Edmund Reid was the head of the Criminal Investigation Department in the Metropolitan Police Service’s H division during the time Jack the Ripper was active. He had his own theory that Jack the Ripper was actually a local drunk who would forget about his own crimes. Edmund also did not believe the Ripper had any sort of surgical experience, also wrongly believing that no body parts were missing from the victims as well believing that the Ripper possessed a blunt knife. Additionally, he wrote letters claiming the Ripper had only committed nine murders, rather than the known eleven.
- Edmund Reid’s police warrant number was 56100. This is likely where “H56100” comes from.
- In addition to being an inspector, Edmund Reid was also interested in aeronautics, making a total of 23 balloon ascents during his life. He was the first person to parachute from from 1,000 ft in Luton. Additionally, he would later receive a gold medal from the Balloon Association of Great Britain for a record-breaking ascent in a balloon at The Crystal Palace.
- It is theorized that Edmund is the older brother of Frye Reed given their shared last name.
- Edmund is a police sheriff, which means it is possible he was among the detectives assigned to the Oletus Manor case, like Frye's brother.
- Frye also mentioned that Frye's brother had "vanished without a trace". Given Edmund is confirmed to be a participant in a manor game, he would be among those who would disappear.[3]

We can gather who was in a canon Manor Game together by information in Letters and Diaries, and very occasionally from character quotes during events. However, as he is an unplayable character, this Manor Game and its events were taken from The Ripper's 2022 and 2023 Letters.

- ↑ In Wax Artist's 2025 Letter, he writes: "This brings to mind the manifesto from several days past, which outlined the histories of all present, including that of the man who has already claimed the lives of several victims. The deceased, as you may recall, demanded a trial, but your steadfast commitment to procedural justice delayed what was an inevitable reckoning."
Later in the same letter, he also mentions that: "[...] your unwavering adherence to procedural justice, a criminal who should have been apprehended has slipped through our fingers. We are all complicit in the victim's death. You, too, are no less an accomplice in this tragedy." - ↑ See The Ripper's 2023 Letter.
