Electrolysis is an A-Tier Costume for the "Prisoner", Luca Balsa. It was introduced in Season 13 Essence 1.

Appearance

Physical

Luca now has blonde hair with wild askew strands all in different directions. The tips of them are dark, likely having been burnt off. His hands and neck are mechanical, possibly indicating that all of his body is artificial.

Luca has pale skin, an obscured left eye, and a blackened lens with a gold rim and tendrils of electric charges for his right eye. His dark brown hair is tied into a short ponytail. A tiny fang sticks out the side of his mouth. His hair is now a platinum blond with singed, burned edges, tied into a short ponytail. Burn marks are visible on his entire body. A tiny fang sticks out the side of his mouth.

Outfit

Luca wears a leather vest with haphazard buckles, a bottle of glowing aqua electric charges attached, and bronze wiring over a pale blue shirt with puffy sleeves, dark grey trousers, and leather boots. His left shoulder in encased in a leather brace, and both his legs are encased in dull gold braces. Two bronze belts hangs around his waist, to which a large jar of glowing aqua electric charges with wiring and a brown pouch containing glass test tubes are attached on either side. A brass-and-vermillion metal tube is secured around his neck, with six gold pins with round knobs protruding out. Under this tube, a large bronze collar is visible. White linen bandages are wrapped haphazardly around the left side of his head and parts of his body. On his hands and arms are leather armguards with metal wrist supports over white linen bandages.

Approaching the extreme and challenging the laws of nature
With the development of science and medicine, the ancient alchemy gradually declined. But there are still a group of people who believe in the miracles of alchemy.

In order to approach the extreme of alchemy, they went to different extremes: Electrolysis alchemy uses inorganic substances as materials and must rely on excess energy; Ouroboros refines substances from the fusion of organic substances and tramples on the taboos of life.

However, just as the competition between the two parties was reaching its climax, a mysterious alchemist appeared. He combines alchemy with painting, using a technique similar to mixing paint, blending organic and inorganic substances in a golden ratio, supplemented by the reshaping of aesthetics, to create incredible miracles. And his power to reconcile and transform material composition comes from a mysterious stone...

When the twisted truth is revealed again, will the secret gathering of alchemists who challenge the laws of nature turn into a carnival of fools again?

This theme Essence - "The Carnival of Fools" is a story about a mysterious gathering of alchemy.

Except for test tube vessels and alchemical symbols, historical materials are relatively vague about the appearance of the alchemist himself. When applied to costume design, we need to refine and expand it into a more distinctive image.

So, we put the story in the context of the gradual development of science and medicine and the gradual decline of alchemy, and designed it around the connections and conflicts between the three.

Design Idea Plans
Electrolysis is developed based on the "Prisoner" character's own affinity for "Technology".

The development of science has gradually pushed the old alchemy to the edge. However, in every era of change, there are always people standing at the crossroads, carrying the creeds of their predecessors and waiting for the impact of new changes.

Electrolysis combines science and technology with alchemy. He conducts electrolysis and electroplating experiments of metal inorganic substances in an electrified flask, perfecting a performance that turns copper coins into gold coins.

The Tesla metal coil around the neck is the source of its current. There are red traces of electroplated copper on the outer metal fingertips of the leather handguards. The multiple layers of tight-fitting leather armor and metal equipment on the legs are protective measures against electric current.

It can be seen that with his yearning for the legend of the "Philosopher's Stone", he did not hesitate to use his body as a conductor to test the limits of the combination of alchemy and electrical energy - this is also an interesting tribute to the connection relationship between alchemy and modern science.

Design Idea Sketch
The direction of the first sketch basically meets the needs, but the hair color and design are not restored to the era and lack realism. Some clothing structures and prop designs need to be more reasonable.

In addition, the current overall look and feel of costume is more towards A costume, and it is necessary to strengthen the expression of "energized" design points to improve the level of costume.

The clothing and props design in the second sketch are much more reasonable, and on this basis, the expression of the "power-on" design point is strengthened. However, the current special effects in this version are a bit exaggerated, and the number of electrolytic bottles is too large. It needs to be adjusted appropriately to strengthen the visual center.

The third sketch is basically in line with expectations. In this step, we mainly unified the overall depiction style and tone. The visual center has also been adjusted to highlight functional design points such as Tesla collars and electrolyte bottle pendants, while weakening the decoration of other parts.
