Embalm is an External Trait that belongs to the Embalmer. As an external trait, it is a passive ability that the character starts the game with.

Description

Rebirth is cast on self by default, so players are able to save themselves when they're knocked down or placed on a Rocket Chair.

The Embalmer carries his makeup box everywhere. Opening it will summon a coffin with a surrogate in it and immediately provides the Rebirth ability. When a player with the Rebirth ability is knocked down or placed on a Rocket Chair, the Embalmer will have 3s to make a choice. Selecting "Rebirth Now" will immediately cause the player to enter the Rebirth process. Selecting "Cancel Rebirth" will stop the player from entering the Rebirth process, while retaining the effects and the current Coffin. When no selection is made, the Rebirth process will start by default. The Embalmer can summon a coffin where he stands.

Rebirth
When a Survivor is knocked down or placed on a Rocket Chair, they can be resurrected in that coffin using a surrogate, after which they're invulnerable to damage from the Hunter's normal attacks and most Hunter abilities for 7 seconds and will also receive the Tide Turner's effect for 15 seconds. When the exit gate is opened, using Rebirth will no longer grant the two effects mentioned above. Every time the Embalmer is rescued from a Rocket Chair, the number of coffins that he can summon will increase, but an Embalmer can only summon and use one coffin at the time.

Duo Hunters Mode
After a Survivor with Rebirth is knocked down or put on a Rocket Chair, that Survivor will have 3 seconds to choose whether or not to activate the effect. The Embalmer cannot decide for them.

Other Details

• Despite the Embalmer or other survivors being invulnerable to any attacks from the hunter after getting rescued by the Coffin, they are still vulnerable to any negative Crowd Control effects such as:
  • Getting trapped by one of Gamekeeper's Traps.
  • Walking into Soul Weaver's Webs.
  • Picking up one of Geisha's Swordtail Butterflies.
  • Having their soul Siphoned or Wavered by Wu Chang.
  • Getting waxed by the Wax Artist.

Embalmer Tips

• Use "Rebirth Now" only under these conditions:
  • If all of the survivors are unavailable to rescue before 50% or 100% of the Rocket Chair countdown because they are too far from you.
  • If all of the survivors are unable to rescue you due to having low health or being too far from the Rocket Chair.
• Try to at least lure the Hunter as far from the Coffin as possible.
• The best place to put the Coffin is:
  • Away from the Ciphers Machines if the Hunter has Teleport, or placing the Coffin near a completed Cipher Machine.
  • Second Floor Buildings.
  • Near the Dungeon or an opened Exit Gate.
• Although the trait specifies that "once the exit gates are opened" the two protective effects are lost, the effects are actually lost as soon as the last cipher is decoded.

Other Survivors Tips

This tips are for survivors outside of Embalmer so that they can use Embalmer's assist abilities efficiently and understand them.

• During late game when the Exit Gates are activated, sometimes Embalmer will try to assist you by placing Rebirth on you (Shown by the coffin on your health status) as he is trying to rescue you by teleporting you to the open exit gate or the dungeon for you to escape. If you receive a Rebirth, die as far as possible from the coffin so as to prevent the hunter from reaching the coffin during the 8 second period.
  • If you know the hunter has Teleport, die as quick as possible once you are sure you are far enough from the coffin before the Teleport's cooldown is finished
