The Eye of Darkness is a deity that takes the form of a cat.

Appearance[]

In Amanda's trailer, it has a colossal vertical pupil radiating golden light from its amber eyeball. Surrounding it are deep red and dark smoke filling the sky with malice in its physical form.

Compiled Overview[]

The deity is able to revive people from the dead and curse them with sleep disorders to experience nightmares. Eventually, it has its own enlightenment cult who worships the darkness and its wisdom instead of mainstream religions due to their hypocritical teachings of manipulative light.

It resurrected Ann after her death by angry mob. She now acts as one of its disciples, which is where she gets her title from. It is also what revived Alva after the accident in his lab.

At some point, it has plagued Amanda with Narcolepsy during her time working in jail. She has witnessed hallucinations telling her to stall prison guards from hanging "Dogma" and faked her relapse, sending its own Followers to orchestrate a jailbreak. However, its motivations are currently unknown.

Alternate Theories and Conclusions[]

  • It is unknown if Ann's cat is the deity itself or some sort of being created by it.
    • The developers were asked about this in a Q&A, but no clear answer was provided.
  • It is widely believed Ann's cat is named Apostle.
  • It is possible that the Eye of Darkness is based on the short stories Nyarlathotep and Cats of Ulthar by H.P. Lovecraft.
    • In particular, the description of the eldritch god in Nyarlathotep fits that of Alva.
    • Note that the God Nyarlathotep, was in part based on Nikola Tesla, the inspiration behind Luca Balsa.
