Backstory
Character Introduction
Having found "the one," Emma can finally focus on perfecting her gardening skills. Maybe dear Mr. Scarecrow still needs some new duds. Replace the rotten straw, throw on a new hat. Of course, appearance isn't the only thing she cares about. But, hey, what's wrong with dressing up your dream lover? As long as you have the money.[2]
Character Relations Menu
Having found her "true love," Emma is finally able to employ the full extent of her gardening skills and talents. It seems her beloved scarecrow needs some touching up—perhaps it's time to swap out his rotting insides with fresh straw, or maybe he needs a new hat? Granted, she has never been the kind of girl who cares about looks...
But hey, what's wrong with dressing up the man of your dreams a little? All it costs is a little money, after all.
Investigation Notes
The pure yet lonely Gardener lost her father at an early age. It would appear that she did not come here for the money. Money, it seems, is not the only thing on offer here.
Caught up in this strange game, what befell the gardener? More worthy of thought is where have all these participants gone?

Letters
This section contains the letters the player receives after completing Emma's Birthday Event on December 21st each year. After the event they can be accessed in the file section of the character's Notebook page. As Leo's Character Day and Emma's Birthday event both fall on December 21st, these two characters share the same letters for their first two character day events.
An unreceived letter (2019)
Dear Leo,
I know you won't be happy seeing this letter. In fact, I know you'll be pissed. Freddy proposed to me.
I said yes.
I'm not asking for your forgiveness with this letter. I know I'm about to do something really bad.
For the sake of Lisa, however, please consider carefully the investment we debated.
Competitions among weaving factories are fierce, I know.
But please, believe me, rifles are no "daily necessities".
Not to mention, why do you think people will buy rifles from you?
No one from the previous five generations of the Becks was good at hunting!
I'm sorry. There I go again.
I shouldn't tell you how to do business.
But my dear, I can't help but hope you will make a wise decision.
Take care of Lisa, and find a more suitable woman for yourself.
Once again, I'm really sorry.
Evidence no. 24 of the Arms Factory Fire (2020)
(A stack of paper, the top sheet seemed to be an unsent letter with traces of repeated corrections)
Dear Lisa:
How are you doing at the orphanage? I've asked the priest to give you a bottle of milk every day. Do drink it, please. It's getting cold these days. You have a habit of kicking your blankets off at night. While you may have learned it from me, it's a bad habit and you must get rid of it.
As for your mother, the fact that she chose to leave has nothing to do with you. You aren't an unwanted child. She (the words were erased and couldn't be read).
My child, I have to leave this place to look for another way to make money. Don't come and find me.
You need to grow up and live a good life.
Going forward, remember not to trust people too easily. Live for yourself. You won't get lucky by being nice. It took Father too long to learn this lesson, but I know you're smart and you'll know what to do.
Lastly, remember our game with fire and scarecrow? That cursed factory would be your toy soon.
This is probably the only thing your useless Father can do for you.

[Test Indicators]
1. Seemingly innocuous
2. Neurotic
3. Vindictive
[Inclination]
Doubtful "Dreamer"
[Test Results]
1. Subject 4-1-1 is an insecure individual. When placed in an unfamiliar environment, she exhibits a strong emotional dependence on certain items for self-protection and loses herself in delusions.
2. Procedure:
Facing three revenge targets in the Manor (Subjects 4-0-2, 4-0-3, and 4-0-4), Subject 4-1-1 disguised her intentions under the image of the innocent sweetheart to execute her plan.
However, when alone, Subject 4-1-1 directed her emotional dependence toward the Scarecrow due to the stress and pressure of her revenge plan.
3. Experiment Summary:
Subject 4-1-1 indulges in fantasies and projects them onto objects, a behavioral pattern that originates from repeated abandonment and betrayal in her childhood and adolescence. These experiences have taken root in her memories and kept her mind in fear and tension for a long time. The medicine used in this experiment magnified her inner fear and anxiety, resulting in the vessel of her fantasies becoming a "talking scarecrow."
It was Subject 4-0-4 who forced a change in the situation.
After discovering the delusions of Subject 4-1-1, Subject 4-0-4 was still willing to listen, accept, and trust her. Subject 4-1-1 gained a real sense of security in her relationship with Subject 4-0-4, and her dependence on the scarecrow gradually lessened. Thus, Subject 4-0-4 went from being a revenge target to the focus of dependence in Subject 4-1-1's mind. In contrast, during this process, Subject 4-1-1 persisted in her revenge plan against Subject 4-0-2. In the game, Subject 4-1-1 burned the scarecrow to symbolize her revenge.
This shows that her emotional attachment to this item had been completely overcome and placed on Subject 4-0-4. However...

A Letter Attached with Dried Thistle and Without Recipient Information (2022)
Dear Mom,
My new friends in this group warned me in secret to keep a record of everything, just in case my memories would start to deceive me. They said their memories were like children's jigsaw puzzles, and there were gaps and parts that did not fit.
They do not know that my memory has been lost to the point that only my identity as Emma Woods remains. Even the part of it labeled as "Mom and Dad" is empty. I have no reason to worry if the new pieces fit, or if my parents will vanish when I open my eyes in the morning... Though I remember nothing, I miss you terribly, Mother.
I cannot imagine your appearance, nor can I record the moments of the past, it is just my body that constantly whispers: "Write a letter to Mom, like every night once upon a time, and trust the wind to carry it to the stars."
Sometime I wonder why I never choose to write to Dad. The word "Dad" feels even more distant to me, but that sentiment has changed lately. Remember the game I mentioned the other day? Yes, I've won the previous round, for now, but it fills me with sadness. Instead of fear, what I felt from that weirdo in the game was familiarity and sorrow that I still cannot overcome even to this day.
At the final moments of the game, as I escaped from that factory covered in thick fog, I think I heard that weirdo struggling to speak a name that was unfamiliar to me — Lisa.
Lisa, Lisa... I don't know why, but writing this name makes my eyes sting.
Maybe that weirdo knows me, but I'm unable to place him in any of my puzzle pieces. After the event, my hands kept telling me that the weirdo's hands were covered in injuries, so he could not feel the softness of the petals. It's the same for my dad. His hands are covered in callouses.
They are clearly not puzzle pieces with edges that match.
Mom, I miss you. I want to know about the past that drives my emotions, I want to hear your voice, and I want you to rub my head and tell me about dad, you, and our family.
A Message (2023)
Emma Woods' candle has gone out, just like the candle blown out on her ninth birthday... Even though unexpected changes and forgetfulness had plagued her since then, she couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia. Someone called her "Lisa"—perhaps that was the last thing she heard.
Lisa Beck: Investigation FieldNotes[sic] I (2024)
As I sifted through the hidden old files, I was particularly drawn to Lisa Beck and the missing persons linked to her. In fact, when I first embarked on my journey as an investigative journalist, I had compiled old news reports about the asylum for personal reasons. The name Lisa seemed to weave together a multitude of old stories, all connected to a group of visitors who had also come to the manor. To trace the girl's past, I visited various locations, and through my earlier investigations, I uncovered details that were absent from the cold "experiment report."
Lisa Beck
The file on Lisa Beck lists her "seemingly innocuous" traits alongside the vindictiveness that lurks beneath the surface. Throughout the experiment, Lisa had three targets for revenge, but her last target, who cared for her, was an exception. I hesitate to attribute this change solely to Lisa's experiences in the asylum, which led to her being labeled as "neurotic" in the file, or to her sudden, overwhelming spiritual dependence. While the test records indicate that she was indeed complex and difficult to understand, it is possible to trace the underlying meanings behind each piece of the puzzle that constitutes her identity.
To understand how "Lisa Beck" became who she was—and how "Lisa" mentally transformed into "Emma Woods"—it is essential to begin with an investigation into her childhood. This exploration reveals that Lisa was already grappling with the concept of "loss" at an age when she "didn't really know much." She learned to use her sweet, "carefree" demeanor to get what she wanted.
In my research, I uncovered scattered but overlooked information in the manor, as well as insights from a former worker and an old acquaintance who had been employed by Leo Beck in the textile industry. This individual, mentioned in the field notes about Leo Beck, provided a vital perspective on Lisa's childhood. Outsiders could more easily discern the "early wisdom" Lisa acquired, as her carefree facade was often aimed at impressing others. However, her true, more guarded nature would occasionally emerge in her interactions.
The following insights are drawn from interviews with individuals who observed the Beck family, as well as Lisa Beck's early personal diary entries:
From Lisa's perspective, her "carefree" attitude likely stemmed from the frequent fights between her parents as their relationship deteriorated. In those tense moments, she instinctively held her breath and remained silent when she "shouldn't cry." This behavior evolved beyond mere self-suppression into a conscious performance, as she adjusted her emotions to fulfill a heavy burden for a child: to delay the inevitable collapse of her family's relationship and her father's mental health. Similarly, Leo subconsciously chose to "cover up traces" in an effort to compensate for the "happiness one should have" as a family. This misplaced yet shared desire created a transparent wall between father and daughter.
During the period when Lisa assumed her new identity as "Emma Woods" and embarked on a fresh life as a gardener—before being drawn into the intricate dynamics of manor life—she adopted a more complex persona. She portrayed herself as kind and naïve, embodying the archetype of an unquestionable "sweetheart." This facade mirrored the temperamental traits she had displayed in her childhood, ultimately serving to shield her from the burdens of her past in the eyes of others. The only significant shift was "Emma Woods’s" evolving desire: what began as a longing for a peaceful life and happiness for her family morphed into an obsession with revenge against those who had made her earlier existence unbearable.
I have another pressing concern. With the assistance of a colleague, I obtained the visitor records from the asylum circa 1893. Notably, a novelist visited the asylum to gather material for their writing during the time of Lisa Beck's disappearance. Such "visits" were rare, as most interactions within the asylum occurred in a regular, closed environment. This novelist was the only unusual visitor recorded during that period. My intuition suggests something irregular may have transpired, but unfortunately, we couldn't uncover any further information about this individual's identity or motives beyond what is noted in the basic visiting log. While I harbor suspicions, I cannot draw any definitive conclusions. What I do know is that although Lisa Beck managed to escape from the asylum on two occasions, she would have lacked the resources at that time to completely reinvent her identity and swiftly relocate to another city to open a flower shop.
To investigate further, I traveled to Somerset, where "Emma Woods" briefly established a small flower shop after her escape from the asylum. I arrived on a pleasant spring afternoon, enjoying the comfortable weather and the region's thriving agriculture—a place where one could find tranquility. I sought out interviewees with specific characteristics: individuals who had lived in the area for a long time and had maintained a regular flower subscription. Fortunately, I located some former customers of "Miss Woods" at a local horticultural organization. These customers came from various backgrounds but all fondly recalled "Miss Woods's" vibrant personality. They invited me to sit by a large window that overlooked the bustling street below. As I gazed out, I wondered if Lisa Beck had once been part of that lively scene—did she ever contemplate settling down and embracing the freedom and peace that came with such a life? This thought lingered just before I received my invitation.
During our discussion, several interviewees mentioned a plant known as "Miss Wilmot's Ghost." This plant features sharp, tooth-like edges and is characterized by a layer of grey snow that rests atop its dark green base. One interviewee recalled how Miss Woods always adorned her shop with this grey-green plant, placing it prominently in the center while frequently changing the surrounding flowers based on her mood. The interviewee thought that softer, more vibrant flowers would have suited a cheerful young lady like Miss Woods better.
"Just a few days before the shop closed, I asked her about the plant. During that brief period, she seemed unusually happy, as if preparing for something special. She revealed that the plant held significant meaning for her. It was then that I noticed the striking similarity between its color and her eyes. She also mentioned that, not long ago, there had been another flower that was particularly dear to her."
A rumor circulates about this plant: a gardener would secretly scatter its seeds into the yards of unsuspecting neighbors like hidden ghosts. It wasn't until I revisited Lisa Beck's childhood diary that I discovered this plant mentioned in her story. When Lisa was young and hadn’t yet taken up gardening, it grew in the Beck family's yard, its origins a mystery. To young Lisa, its grey-green hue was a reminder of her father's eyes. For her, the significance of this plant stood in stark contrast to what "thistle" represented, even though both symbols bore similar emotional weight. In the context of this narrative, "thistle" had almost become the sole defining mark of Lisa Beck, while the softer, grey-green "ghost" had long been obscured by the haze of the past.
Furthermore, as the "ghost" resurfaced in the narrative, I began to grasp more profoundly that Lisa Beck's life was a tapestry woven from her childhood dreams. The "ghost," linked to the gardener, seemed to guide her toward a new life, as if it were her destiny. The game of "burning scarecrows" served as a means to bury her resentment, suggesting that she might have remained emotionally tethered to that cottage in Devonshire until the very end. Her emotional attachments—whether to people, things, or love—might have morphed into obsession, but their essence remained pure.
Ultimately, it appears that Lisa Beck left a few "ghost" seeds behind in Somerset as her final farewell. They bloomed along the window lattice where past customers once gathered, yet there was no promise of the owner's return.
Lisa Beck: Investigation Field Notes II (2025)
After concluding my inquiries in Somerset, I found myself pursued by a subtle, persistent dissonance. The figure of "Emma Woods," pieced together from stray references and old accounts, bore little resemblance to the wholesome, guileless image she had displayed during that bright chapter of small-town life. If one is to resolve such a contradiction, there is no avoiding the past. The truth lies buried in those half-remembered tales, part rumor and part record, whose origins either propelled her forward or were set in motion by her own hand.
Among the scattered clippings, brittle files, and unreliable street chatter, one name emerged: Veronica. She is mentioned only briefly in the surviving ledgers of the White Sand Street Asylum and in the yellowing transcripts supplied by the local constabulary, her name coupled with stark words such as fire, panic, and refusal to cooperate. I hesitated to disturb a young woman who grew up in the orphanage and later endured the asylum, yet after much thought, I resolved to meet her. To my surprise, she agreed and spoke of those two chapters in her life.
"She's the devil, you know?" Veronica began. "She had one of those faces people liked from the start. When she first came to the orphanage, I thought we were alike, although she always had one more bottle of milk than the rest, and her black bread was larger. Yet she would tuck in the blankets of children who could not move around." She paused, lifting her eyes toward me as if inviting me to draw some conclusion from her account.
From Veronica's telling, Lisa Beck—later "Emma Woods"—entered the orphanage in the wake of family misfortune. Her quiet, deferential manner won her natural goodwill, granting her the freedom to be left to herself. Yet to Veronica, these same gestures carried a calculated purpose. Later reports confirm the pattern. In another environment, Emma Woods conducted herself in much the same way: taking on minor chores, avoiding overt attention, never truly blending in, and lingering between order and disorder like a ghost at the margins. That ghost's trajectory became clearer between the orphanage and the asylum. She shed the stupor, confusion, and nightmares left by her treatments, and for the first time devised a genuine plan of escape. Witnesses say they saw it unfold before their eyes.
"It was all a lie!" Veronica burst out. "The adults were fooled. On the day she fled the asylum, they were busy rifling through rooms, counting heads, staring at the rope hanging from the mourning pine in the courtyard. Nobody noticed the little imp drawing their attention away under the sheets in the laundry, and disappearing!"
"How do you know all this?" I asked.
"I watched her. I had to help the filthy rat. I had brought him plenty of strays from the street."
"And how did she draw their attention?" I pressed.
"She set a fire!" Veronica's voice rose to a near scream. "She burned the scarecrow. She meant to burn us alive!"
In truth, no fire was recorded on the day Emma Woods left the Asylum, nor in the days surrounding it. Only one peculiar rumor survives: that at dawn, while most were still asleep, a drunkard collapsed at the asylum gates raving. On the ground before the main doors lay a small heap of straw ash, the remnant of some mischief. Beside it, a blurred name had been scrawled in charcoal, only to be swept away by the wind.
A cloud moved in, blotting out the gentle afternoon sun, and the wind lifted Veronica's veil, revealing two scars. One was the sort often noted in the asylum's medical reports. The other, a broad seared patch, had been there since before she entered the orphanage. It was the mark left by the devil that had stolen what should have been a safe and cherished childhood. At that moment, I understood the sharpness and the fear behind her choice of words.
"And then?" I prompted.
"Then she got out and was dragged back. Fool of a girl. What are you worrying over? For people like us, the world outside means death. You would be swallowed whole before you could reach for a scrap from the street."
I am certain she underestimates the girl. Evidence suggests that the escape was no accident. It was a methodical design, perhaps rehearsed a hundred times, fixed indelibly in the fractured memory of Lisa Beck. By then, she had learned to master her emotions, an instinctive skill. This perhaps explains why, even after revenge faded as a motive, she could enter a new and dangerous world filled with seasoned hunters who masked their malice behind charm, and still lower her guard at will, diminishing her perceived threat and lulling her foes. Even the warmest offers of protection, she countered with quiet refusal, seizing the advantage instead. Emma Woods, in spirit and deed, grew at an astonishing pace. I suspect these qualities may well account for why she was chosen again.
Was Lisa Beck born with an instinct for observation and concealment? Luckily, shortly after parting from Veronica, I encountered a retired policeman in a public house, a man who had known Lisa Beck only briefly.
"That girl may be the devil," he said, catching my reaction and sighing. "Do not mistake me, you heard correctly. More than once, she was called a devil in the flesh."
"Back then at the orphanage," he continued, "there was more than one family eager to adopt her. Those were quieter days with no ugly rumors about the place, and from time to time, respectable folk would visit. Well-mannered children were always the first to be chosen."
"And Lisa?" I asked.
"At first, she was well-liked. Never grasping or quarrelsome, and always noticed. Polite enough to call people 'Sir' and 'Madam', and to thank them even when it was plain they came only to preen themselves with noble talk."
He paused, then added, "She was a clever child, and she knew her own measure. But she never refused a person to their face, and met everyone with composure."
"It sounded like..." I swallowed the rest of the thought and prompted, "Then what happened?"
"Trouble came later. Always a day or two before the adoption papers were to be signed, strange things seemed to happen. The parlor's holy statue was smashed to pieces. The taps are running red. A carriage overturns at the orphanage gate. A lady waking from a nightmare and swearing the child's eyes held something hidden. There was no proof, yet gossip gathered, and all paths pointed back to her."
The old officer drained his glass in one long swallow. I do not know if he had any knowledge of her later life, yet I sensed a shift in his tone that betrayed unspoken sentiment.
"Some were frightened, some declared the child unlucky, and turned instead to others. In that peculiar place, few ever truly made it out. Miss Beck's adoption was almost complete, only to turn back again. After that, I cannot say."
Whether those incidents were truly tied to Lisa Beck is hard to prove. I believe there must have been something missing between her repeated failures to leave the orphanage and her eventual successful escape from the asylum. Somewhere in that interval, she learned to lock her more innocent hopes away.
"If you wish to know more," the officer said, breaking into my thoughts, "you had better speak to two particular people."
"Who?" I asked.
"Mr. Woods and his charitable wife. The couple who, years ago, were frequent visitors to the orphanage."

Compiled Overview
Lisa Beck was born on December 21st, 1876 to Leo and Martha Beck,[20] and lived in a cottage in Devonshire.[21] Her father made her small toys using fabric from his textile factory[22]and treated her well. However, her father was severely in-debt, and was pushed into further debt when his close friend, Freddy Riley, convinced him to purchase the Minerva Arms Factory. This caused an argument with his wife Martha, which caused her to leave him and elope with Freddy. Lisa watched her parents' relationship deteriorated from the sidelines and how her father began to turn to alcoholism. Lisa's life spiraled further as Leo began selling off items in the house and they experienced several break-ins from thieves.[23] Lisa matured quickly and, though her father started bringing Lisa to the factory, she was left alone a lot and struggled with the sadness of her shattered family.[24]
Eventually, Leo was unable to provide properly for her and Lisa was put into an orphanage on White Sand Street. Leo sent messages and money to the priest for Lisa's care, but the money was likely embezzled by the corrupt staff. Lisa's only solace was the broken teddy bear her father made her before sending her to the orphanage.[24] Overcome with debt, Leo wrote Lisa as the primary Beneficiary of Compensation connected to an insurance policy, and the factory was burned down with him inside of it.[25] Although this meant she had inherited a notable sum of money, she may not have had access to it until adulthood, and after the death of her mother, she remained in the orphanage.
In her early days at the orphanage, Lisa quickly became well-liked for her quiet, dutiful manner and pretty face. Likely due the money Leo sent and him asking the priest,[26] and Lisa received one extra bottle of milk than the other kids and her bread portion was a little bigger. While she helped with minor chores and shown kindness to the other children, Lisa maintained an aloof distance with everyone while earning the staff's trust to be left unsupervised. Due to her cleverness and good behavior, a few families expressed interest in adopting Lisa, but strange incidents always happened before the papers were finalized. Among these were items breaking, water taps turning red, a carriage overturning, or a lady being frightened of Lisa after waking from a nightmare. Although there was no proof Lisa caused any of these incidents, many people gossiped and all paths came back to Lisa. Some people came to believe Lisa was "unlucky" due the misfortune and odd incidents surrounding her, and others called her a "devil" out of fear.[27]
The orphanage was quickly changed into the White Sand Street Asylum after the connected church clinic diagnosed a large portion of the orphanage with mental illnesses, and Lisa began being treated as a mental patient. On October 9th, 1889, at 12 years old,[28] Lisa was able to escape the asylum by distracting the adults and sneaking under the laundry,[27] but met Kreacher Pierson, who notified a nurse to bring her back.[29][30] According to fellow orphan and inmate Veronica, Lisa allegedly set a scarecrow on fire to distract the adults during her escape attempt, but there were no reports of fire on that day or any other day surrounding it. However, a strange rumor persisted around that time - that a raving drunkard collapsed at the gates at dawn, and a small heap of straw ash and a blurred name written in charcoal were found before the main doors.[27]
Among the volunteers was Lydia Jones,[31] (later known as Emily Dyer) who gave Lisa electroshock therapy,[32] which resulted in negative long-term side effects. Around 1893,[21] when she would have been 16,[33] Lisa escaped from the asylum (which was later shut down and abandoned) with help from Orpheus, a visiting novelist. Orpheus provided Lisa with money and helped her change her name to Emma Woods. With her new identity, Emma relocated to Somerset and opened a small flower shop, where she became well-liked by her customers.[21]
She would later, likely at age 22, receive a letter inviting her to the Oletus Manor, with a single thistle flower included in the letter. She was lured to the game not with the promise of money or other wishes, but to be reunited with someone from her past who was specifically called an "old friend"[TN 2] in the letter.[34] As she has interacted with each of the other members in her game–Freddy who was her dad's friend, Kreacher who sponsored the orphanage she was at, Emily who treated her at the Asylum, as well as her father being the Hunter–it is uncertain who her "friend" was.
Before leaving, Emma closed down her shop and planted some Miss Willmott's ghost flowers nearby as her farewell to Somerset.[21]
Events at the Manor
At the manor, Emma is unwittingly given drugs that heighten her fear and anxiety, which worsens her already frail mental state.[35] While the other three participants ended up recognizing each other to varying degrees, none of them realize Emma's true identity as Lisa Beck, though all were intrigued and suspicious towards Emma for different reasons.
She grew tired of the constant arguments between Kreacher and Freddy and ended up hallucinating about the scarecrow in the indoor garden talking. Kreacher secretly witnessed this and disguised himself as the Scarecrow to gain Emma's attention due to his attraction towards her. Emma became close to Emily, who treated her with compassion and acceptance after learning of her delusions. Her relationship with Emily lessened Emma's attachment to the scarecrow as Kreacher became more aggressive his overtures. During the game, Emma took the scarecrow (which Kreacher had been hiding in) with her and burnt it to signal Emily of her whereabouts.
In the end, Emma was the only survivor in her game to escape and unknowingly reunite with her father Leo, which triggered a deep psychological reaction in both them.[36] Emma was eventually put into another manor game with a new group, with all of them suffering cloudy and incomplete memories, and was encouraged to keep a secret record of everything to sort out her memories.[37] While surrounded by new, dangerous people, Emma was noted to handle herself skillfully by carefully appearing non-threating and not allying herself to anyone, rejecting any protection that was offered by these "hunters".[27]
She died due to unknown causes, the last thing she could hear is someone's voice calling her old name, "Lisa".[38]
Alternate Theories and Conclusions
- According to a fanmade Emma backstory analysis video posted on NetEase's official Dashen accounts, Lisa chose the name "Emma Woods" for her new identity as a homage to her favorite novel heroine, Emma Woodhouse, the main character of Jane Austen's novel Emma.[39]
- Emma's surname "Woods" might also come from the Woods couple, who were mentioned to be frequent visitors to the orphanage in her 2025 Letter.
- In Lanternist's poster, the book she is standing on mentions Emma, suggesting a connection between the two.
- In the fanmade Emma backstory analysis video posted on the developers' official Dashen accounts they also pointed out Emma's name in Amanda's poster and said that more of Emma's fate might be revealed with Amanda's release, further hinting at some connection.[39]

Manor Game Table References
- ↑ The Diary segments for Emma Woods and Emily Dyer shows them accessing and exploring the Arms Factory. It is however implied that this version is actually a copy of the original Minerva Arms Factory. Freddy Riley mentions during Doctor's Diary segment that he believes Arms Factory to be a replica of the original Minerva Armory.
Alice DeRoss also mentions in Hell Ember's 6th Character Day Letter, Leo Beck: Investigation FieldNotes[sic] I, that: "When I arrived at the "Minerva Factory," once a beacon of hope but now defunct, I found it had long since been replaced by new shops."
This implies the original Minerva Arms Factory had long since been demolished and replaced with new buildings. - ↑ The Diary segments for Emma Woods and Emily Dyer show them access Arms Factory, beginning their Manor Game, on July 13th.
- ↑ As Emma Woods' age is listed as 22 years old in her Relations Menu, this can be assumed to be the age at which her Manor game took place. We can determine her birth date to be December 21st, 1876 due to the conclusion of Lawyer's 6th Deduction Quest, Troublemaker, mentioning: "A letter: Leo Beck and Martha Beck invite Freddy to attend Lisa's first birthday party on December 21st, 1877."
This implies that Lisa was born a year earlier, on the same date in 1876. This would place a 22 years old Emma involved in the Manor game that took place in July in the year 1899. - ↑ It should be noted that Hell Ember's serial number is different from those of other subjects in most of the Manor Games, possibly because it was assigned by B.A. and the other experiment staff at Sacred Heart Hospital rather than the usual authors of the other experiment files. It is further implied B.A. assigned Leo his serial number in Hell Ember's 3rd Character Day Letter, A case review file left behind in the Sacred Heart Hospital, where B.A: mentions: "Perhaps I shouldn't have named an experimental subject. After December 21, "Cinder" will simply be Subject No. 1-12-22-13."
- ↑ 5.0 5.1 Emily Dyer is shown being attacked by Hell Ember in her Diary segments, leading to her elimination.
Lawyer's 2023 Birthday Event questions mention that: "Question 5: "Whose elimination was closely linked to Freddy Riley?" ", with the correct answer being the option: "Emily Dyer" - ↑ 6.0 6.1 6.2 6.3 Emma Woods appears to be the only survivor of the "Thistle Thorn" Manor game. She mentions in Gardener's 4th Birthday Letter, A Letter Attached with Dried Thistle and Without Recipient Information, that: "My new friends in this group warned me in secret to keep a record of everything, just in case my memories would start to deceive me."
This shows that Emma survived the experiment and fled Arms Factory, leading to her immediate inclusion into another test group which didn't include her past teammates.
Later in the same letter, she also mentions that: "Yes, I've won the previous round, for now [...]" - ↑ It's implied that Hell Ember spared Emma's life once he recognized her, despite the heavy behavioral drugs he was subjected to, and allowed her to escape the Arms Factory. Emma Woods mentions in Gardener's 4th Birthday Letter, A Letter Attached with Dried Thistle and Without Recipient Information, in regards to her interaction with Hell Ember: "Lisa, Lisa... I don't know why, but writing this name makes my eyes sting.
Maybe that weirdo knows me, but I'm unable to place him in any of my puzzle pieces."
An un unknown author mentions in Hell Ember's 4th Character Day Letter, Message Hidden Inside the Wooden Box Transported in Secret to Sacred Heart Hospital, that: "Subject 1-12-22-13's self-awareness broke free of the memory blockade at the end of the experiment, and Subject 1-12-22-13 regained some emotion as a result of Subject 4-1-1's provocation."
Alice DeRoss mentions in Hell Ember's 6th Character Day Letter, Leo Beck: Investigation FieldNotes[sic] I, in regards to the experimentation staff: "The reports highlight a particularly striking incident: all drug control measures failed to affect him." - ↑ 8.0 8.1 Kreacher Pierson is shown being burnt alive while inside of Mr. Skelkro by Emma Woods in her Diary segments, leading to his elimination.
An unknown author mentions in Thief's 3rd Birthday Letter, A Page from Kreacher Pierson's Experiment File, that: "4-0-2 was the first subject to be eliminated from the game. He was immobilized by Subject 4-1-1's trap in the manor."
An unknown author mentions in Gardener's 3rd Birthday Letter, A Page from Emma Woods' Experiment File, in regards to Kreacher Pierson that: "In contrast, during this process, Subject 4-1-1 persisted in her revenge plan against Subject 4-0-2. In the game, Subject 4-1-1 burned the scarecrow to symbolize her revenge." - ↑ An unknown author mentions in Lawyer's 3rd Birthday Letter, A Page from Freddy Riley's Experiment File, in regards to Freddy Riley that: "[...] but this behavioral characteristic was limited to his exchanges with No. 4-0-4, making him less careful against the deadlier threat."
The wording implies that his careful attitude lessened once Emily Dyer had been eliminated, causing him to fall victim to Hell Ember.
