Backstory[]
Character Introduction[]
For Andrew, gossip is more terrifying than illnesses. Such malice separates him and all that's good and warm in this world like an intangible wall. He used to look out of the window, longing to live under the sun like other youths, to be able to enjoy all the joy, love and hope in this world, instead of being called the "white-haired monster".
Looking for salvation, Andrew came to the Laz Church Cemetery, known as the "Temple" by the world. He became a grave keeper in the company of cold epitaphs and the silent dead. It wasn't until he received the invitation from the Manor where the words in the letter moved him that he felt understood for the first time...[3]
Character Relations Menu[]
Andrew is haunted by the fear of gossip, finding it more dreadful than any illness. The malicious rumors form an intangible barrier between him and the warmth and goodness of the world. He yearns to bask in the sunlight like other young people, to experience the joy, love, and hope that life has to offer, instead of enduring the cruel label of the "white-haired monster."
Seeking solace, Andrew seeks refuge at the Laz Church Cemetery, known as "The Temple" by the world. There, amidst the company of cold epitaphs and the silent departed, he becomes a grave keeper. It is only when he receives an invitation from the manor and reads the deeply touching words in the letter that he feels understood for the first time...
Character Trailer[]
Trailer Transcript[]
From the day I became a GraveKeeper, I knew the Lutz Cementary.
I am not qualified to sleep here.
Good people are buried in there, demons are buried outside there.
That's a lie! However, it lis[sic] an exciting lie.
These dirty money even become the way I approach to the Lutz Cemetery.
But it's all worth it for Lutz.
Ah ~ this damn light.
I sense the fear of these dirty souls.
Monster? it's me? Or are they?
Hilarious, I only know that my faith is calling me.
Deduction Quests[]

An Unsigned Letter (2022)[]
Dear Mr. Kreiss,
First, allow me to express my gratitude for yet another profitable transaction.
Last night was a busy night as always. Were you able to sleep well afterward?
Now, I have some concerns regarding a number of the "slabs" you sent us. Some of them were rather "soft"—to the point of unusable.
Judging by my inspection, it appears these "slabs" were produced later than the time you had reported.
While the doctor does not mind terribly (his mind is mainly concerned with keeping the experiments running smoothly), I cannot help but worry in his stead. As you know, last night's transaction was not like our previous deals, and no amount of money would save us if our actions were brought to light.
Naturally, we could help you dispose of these "slabs," but this would mean our relationship would change from purely transactional to something more... personal. I believe you understand my meaning Mr. Kreiss.
Lastly, for both our sakes, I suggest that you leave this place for the time being. You will find additional remuneration enclosed in this letter, a gift from me to you. If you are unsure of where to go, you may open the last envelope in this parcel. It contains a train ticket with an address written on the back—the prior residence of an old acquaintance that has laid abandoned for several years. I don't believe he would mind terribly if you were to use it for the foreseeable future.
Goodbye for now, Mr. Kreiss.
In the interest of safety, we should refrain from contacting one another until further notice.
Best wishes,
M.S.
Andrew's Manor Diary (2023)[]
On the third week after arriving at the old house,
Life is back to normal. My sunburn has healed as well.
In my moment of desperation, the house's owner sheltered me and perfectly fulfilled their promise...
No tedious work or annoying noise. The holy guide need only deal with the "slabs" that often appear around the house.
Unlike those I dealt with when working in the Temple, these "slabs" are usually damaged. It seems they have suffered impacts by falling up high.
Although I haven't received any explicit instructions, perhaps it is the only way that I can express my gratitude...
However, every time I make a tombstone for a new "slab," those words appear before my eyes...
"Andrew Kreiss — Irises Faded, Long Buried."
The epitaph on the tombstone is carved a million times in my heart, and I have a never-ending desire to return there.
Is it really impossible...?
The "slab" arrived as scheduled with a new invitation letter.
The sand flows slowly, but I should stop hesitating...
Maybe... this is the only way that I can return to the Temple.

1. Devout Belief
2. Avoidant Personality
3. Strong Sense of Duty
[Inclination]
Silent Servant
[Test Results]
1. Overall Evaluation:
The actions of 3-0-1 are significantly influenced by his childhood experiences and beliefs. His value system and need for social recognition are directed towards the Laz Church Cemetery that took him in. Throughout the entire experiment, 3-0-1 persistently pursued the goal of entering the "Temple" and being recognized as a benevolent individual, even at the cost of everything.
2. Methodology:
Due to 3-0-1's previous responsibilities, his stay at the manor exceeded the length of one experimental cycle. Unfortunately, this familiarity and experience did not result in positive effects during the experiment. It is possible that 3-0-1's perception of self within his belief system influenced how he perceived reality. Even when given notices following standard procedures, 3-0-1 continued to display characteristics more akin to that of a servant.
Under this service-oriented mindset, 3-0-1 was able to maintain normal communication with other subjects during the early stages of the experiment. However, if 3-0-1 sensed any negative emotions such as impatience or annoyance during a conversation, he would quickly end the exchange and refrain from initiating further dialogue. In the later stages, 3-0-1 stopped communicating with 3-1-3 and 3-?-2 due to their noticeable emotional expressions. On the other hand, 3-1-4, who consistently displayed politeness towards 3-0-1, and 3-1-5, who was adept at disguising their true intentions, were able to extract useful information from 3-0-1 during their interactions. 3-0-1's only goal in life is to accumulate enough wealth to access the "Temple" within his mind. This desire, unrelated to the manor, coupled with 3-0-1's limited social cognition, hindered his ability to guess the true intentions and possible strategies of other subjects, ultimately leading to his inability to escape.
3-0-1's sensitivity to criticism was influenced by his low self-esteem and imposter syndrome. Before 3-0-1 deemed himself worthy of entering the "Temple," his childhood trauma would remain. 3-1-5, who is skilled at sensing others' emotions, astutely recognized the resulting behavior from 3-0-1 and induced him to form a temporary alliance. 3-1-4 utilized 3-0-1's familiarity with the mansion's layout to orchestrate an arson under the stage, leading to 3-1-4's ultimate demise.
At first, 3-0-1 felt some empathy towards 3-1-4 due to their shared attitude towards faith and their non-aggressive nature. However, despite 3-1-4's superior communication and expressive abilities, their past experiences hindered their ability to establish meaningful connections with others. They remained absorbed in their pursuit of friendship and salvation. This lack of awareness of their surroundings made it difficult for 3-1-4 to notice 3-1-5's subtle manipulations and the misunderstandings that arose from 3-0-1 as a result.
The reason for 3-0-1's elimination is similar to that of 3-1-4. Just as 3-1-4 failed to detect the changes in 3-0-1 and 3-1-5, 3-0-1, after 3-1-4's elimination, also failed to perceive the hostility from 3-1-5 towards him. The lies spun by 3-1-5 did not include the criticism that 3-0-1 is most sensitive to. Instead, they were filled with praise and recognition for 3-0-1's "work." Unfortunately, this was merely a facade created through acting.
In the end, 3-1-5 determined 3-0-1's fate in the "Temple." All the knowledge and expertise 3-0-1 had shown about the manor became the first layer of soil sprinkled on his final resting place.
3. Analysis:
During 3-0-1's childhood, he was labeled a demon because of his unique appearance. These experiences had a profound impact on his personality development. He became socially inhibited, highly sensitive to criticism and negative emotions, and had extremely low self-esteem. To gain self-worth, 3-0-1 devoted himself to religion. However, his strong desire for recognition and limited social understanding led him to compromise moral standards in his pursuit of being seen as virtuous by the "Temple."
The habit of avoiding social interactions, which was developed in early childhood as a defensive mechanism, also hindered 3-0-1's ability to gather information and make accurate judgments about other experimental subjects. Consequently, this led to his demise in the experiment.
A comprehensive analysis of 3-0-1's behavioral patterns reveals that his trauma has profoundly influenced his personality, including passive behavior and choice of belief. Moreover, the healing effects of faith on such traumas differ significantly between 3-0-1 and 3-1-4. After concluding this experimental group, the impact of faith should be considered as a potential factor in future evaluations.
A Torn, Mud-Stained Page (2025)[]
The performers have been dealt with as requested, though not without difficulty. As per the manor owner's directive, the task was simple: bury the five participants in the "performance," and we would be granted our return to the temple. I had feared, initially, that only four would answer the call, but as fate would have it, a small "accident" occurred, and the number was met.
With prior warnings in mind, I observed in silence as they consumed the drug-laced food and wine, their voices brimming with eagerness for the spectacle to come. Perhaps because I did not engage in their chatter, they presumed I was just part of the staff.
According to the schedule, the first performer took the stage with the "wheel act." The drug took effect swiftly, and the "wheel" became an uncontrollable frenzy. Only as I began the burial did I realize the truth—the "performer" was not one, but three. A fortuitous revelation, filling the required number. Now, in retrospect, I find gratitude for their arrival, for they allowed me to fulfill my task.
The transport was arduous, but my experience with "slabs" made the work easier. Another performer assisted, though his fascination with all things circular made him seem more of a curious participant than a helper. From his attire, I could tell he was a frequent guest in the exclusive circles of the aristocracy, no doubt with a storied past of his own.
The second performer sealed himself away in a room. His isolation spared me unnecessary effort in managing the scene. When the drug took its hold, I entered—finding the room in disarray, music scores scattered across the floor, red wine staining the floor. Yet, he played on, as if possessed by some unseen force. I stood transfixed, losing myself in the melody, as if transported back to the temple itself.
The third performer proved less compliant. Her vigilance was sharp, her suspicion palpable. With the help of the prearranged fuel and food, assisted by the drug, the "performance" unfolded as planned. When the flames emerged, she erupted from her calm, her cries and shrieks filling the air, but there was no escape. She was eventually buried.
In truth, with the "unexpected gain" from the first performer, the conditions for our return to the temple had already been met. Now, as the sole victor of this game, all that remains is to wait patiently for the employer to fulfill his promise.
Andrew Kreiss, time will not stop its endless march, but the purple irises shall bloom once again.

Manor's Stormy Night "Surprise" Game[]
It's my turn?
Before I came to Laz Cemetery, I took a short trip. This incident took place during that trip. It was a spring night. I could no longer suppress my fatigue, so I stayed at a farmer's house by the roadside.
It was in a remote village far away from the city, but the master of the house was very hospitable. He cooked me dinner and told me that I had come at a bad time.
As you know, few people are willing to let someone like me lodge with them, and compared to my perpetual "misfortune," a situation is hardly worth mentioning.
However, on the following day, as I prepared to leave, I was informed that I needed to stay in the village for a few more days. The man told me that the village was founded and managed by a group of well-respected elders. As the situation had become more serious on the day I arrived, the elders decided not to let anyone leave.
And so, I went on living in this plague-stricken village, listening to the constant cries and wails from outside the house. However, a few days later, I heard the sound of nails being hammered into boards nearby, in the middle of the night.
"Is someone building a house out there?" I asked.
The master of the house did not answer me, but instead, made desperate prayers. Candles burned in the room. Their yellow light leaped and danced across the darkness. I could vaguely hear him asking God for forgiveness.
The sound of hammering lasted for two days. On the third day, everything went quiet. I peeped through the window and found that a simple wooden house had been built in the open space near us. Strangely enough, the hut was quiet at first, then became rowdy every few days, and then blared with howling and desperate cursing a few days later. After a while, the hut became quiet again... This cycle continued. At night, the awful sound resembled a dark incantation, cursing life itself.
I don't know why, but I always felt as though venomous eyes glared forth from within that hut.
"Your head is playing tricks on you. Just close the curtains."
When I mentioned this to my host, he uttered these words and shook his head. But I knew that he had been praying for longer and longer each day. That was until one night, a strong burning smell filled my nostrils. I opened my eyes and found that the man had disappeared, and a fire was consuming the nearby hut! It had almost reached the house I was staying at.
Finally, the epidemic subsided and I was allowed to leave the village. Before I left, I was invited to attend a sermon at the village church. I saw the walls of my former lodgings blackened by the fire. And the poor little hut nearby... All that remained of it was a charred frame.
"This was the wrath of God."
That day, the village elders stood in the middle of the church. The eldest looked coldly at me.
"God's forgiveness comes only when the sinners are punished. All our misfortunes, or their misfortunes, are due to His providence."
I didn't know what that meant until I went back to my host's house. After I packed up my things and was ready to leave... I found that beside the ruins of the hut stood a wooden sign with something written on it.
One barely-legible word could be seen—"Ward."

Character Introduction[]
At some point before July 5th, 2020, Grave Keeper's character introduction on the Identity V Official Website was reworded. The following is the previous wording.
| To Andrew, the only thing scarier than his illness was the rumors of the world. Maliciousness, like an unseeable wall, quarantined him completely from the world’s beauty and kindness. He would always look out the window and dream of no longer being called “the White-haired Monster”, and instead being able to live under the sun like the other youths, and enjoy the smiles, love, and hope of the world. Seeking salvation, Andrew travelled to a graveyard in a Laz church known as a “temple” and became a gravekeeper, spending all his time with the icy gravestones and the ever-silent dead. Until he received an invitation from the Manor, and the words within let him feel like he was understood for the first time in his life… |

Compiled Overview[]
Background[]
Andrew Kreiss was ostracized by society due to albinism, with only his mother for consolation. They were evicted from their home by Landlord Marshall, who wanted his mother to abandon ‘the cursed child’. His mother died from illness later. He became a grave keeper when he grew up, at Laz Cemetery. Shortly after, corpses started to disappear from coffins after he saw a poster for wanting bodies of medical value. Since most of the people at Laz were only there because they were rich and not good people like Andrew thought deserved to be there, he dug up their corpses and sold them for medical study. After being discovered, he fled the cemetery. A letter of invitation from the Manor later changed everything- the letter’s words let Andrew feel warmth and understanding for the first time in a long time. He decided to go to the Manor and see for himself; perhaps he could find the answer he seeks there.
Events at the Manor[]
At Oletus Manor, Andrew was hired as part of the Manor staff. His job was to handle the "slabs" that were sent to him, making tombstones for them. One day, a new "slab" arrived with an invitation letter. Andrew saw this letter as a chance to return to the Temple.[8][9]
During his Manor Game, Andrew met someone he called "Mr. Will", which was the three Will brothers pretending to be one person. Andrew was asked about Mr. Will's parents, to which he knew nothing of. Mr. Will also asked Andrew to play a supporting role in his "performance", to which Andrew declined.[10]
At first, Andrew was able to communicate normally with the other members of this game. However, later in the game he stopped communicating with Antonio and Mr. Will due to changes in their emotional expression. Sangria was polite to Andrew, while Marcus Thorne extracted information from him while concealing their own intentions. As Andrew was focused on being able to enter the "Temple," hindered his ability to see the true intentions of those in his game.[11]
Marcus formed a temporary alliance with Andrew at some point. As Andrew was familiar with the Manor's layout Sangria used his help to set a fire underneath the stage, which resulted in her death. After Sangria died, Marcus was hostile towards Andrew, which he did not notice. Marcus manipulated him with his acting skills, giving Andrew false praise for his work. This ultimately led to Andrew's death.[11]
Alternate Theories and Conclusions[]
- Despite his nationality being unconfirmed, his surname is of German origin (Kreis is the German word for circle), and Laz People are one of the minorities in Germany. This hints that he may be of German descent, however his name is of English origin.
- The Laz Cemetery itself might have be based on Lazarevskoye Cemetery in Russia, which, by the end of the eighteenth century, only allowed burials in exchange for large sums of money.

However, it is worth noting that Andrew is one of the Manor's "staff", more specifically, a uniquely tasked participant, as revealed in Violinist's 2023 Letter and Grave Keeper's 2025 Letter, and he also carried Antonio away for burial when Antonio lost control during the First Stage of the experiment. Moreover, it is confirmed that the deaths of the buried participants were actually caused by the Manor using drugged consumables in order to make the participants lose their composure, and the burials were a part of Andrew's given objectives.
