This article contains information on a Truth & Inference Character.
This character is part of an alternate universe within Identity V called Truth & Inference, which is not connected to the game's main storyline.

Hebe, also known as "Succubus" in Mélodis Estate Investigation, is an art trader and former student of Lone Moon Ladies' School. As Anna's adoptive sister, she invited Lady Truth to visit the school in order to investigate Anna's strange condition and subsequent disappearance.

Personality[]

On the surface, Hebe appears as a polite young woman with the typical elegant mannerisms of a high-class lady. She's charming and always willing to help Truth in her investigation, though she's not shy about utilizing her family's status to her advantage, which Narcissus criticizes. She loves to paint, and often muses about the subjects of her paintings.

Mélodis Estate Investigation shows a much darker side of her personality. Succubus is shown to be an extremely greedy person, to the point of murdering the two other art traders after her trade offer was rejected by "D.M." in hopes of leaving him with no other choice but to agree to her trade. D.M. considers her to be "a very ceremonious person", which is shown in the ostentatious and almost playful nature of her crimes. This even reaches a cruel extreme when she kidnaps Lady Truth (as "Monstrous Bird"), whom she had previously been shown to be on friendly terms with. Despite all of this, Succubus remains as calm and polite as ever, even when discussing her crimes.

Background[]

Little is known about Hebe's background in concrete terms. In The Oath of the "Traitors", we learn that she is the daughter of a wealthy couple with an interest in the arts, whose influence is such that the school is willing to bend the rules to appease them.

In Mélodis Estate Investigation, Succubus is stated to be from a family of art dealers. The story she tells, which reflects on unknown events from her past, implies envy over her adoptive sister Anna's talent as well as her relationship with Lady Truth. She uses an analogy about her father giving a doll to her adopted sister, and the doll finally becoming her possession upon her sister's elopement. Later, Lady Truth explains to Mr. Inference that she was the doll in the story. This hints at a deeper relationship between Hebe and Lady Truth than what is shown on screen, as well as hidden resentment from Hebe towards Anna.
