Hunters are one of the two playable factions in Identity V. In regular matches, four Survivors face off against one Hunter. The Hunter's goal is to hunting down and eliminate all four Survivors, by chasing them down and sending them back to the Manor by placing them on Rocket Chairs or bleeding them out. "Undead" is the only exception to this formula, as he can only bleed out Survivors and not chair them.
Each player will start their game with only one Hunter available, Hell Ember, who is unlocked by completing the Tutorial. More Hunters can be obtained by purchasing or unlocking them at a later moment.
Gameplay[]
Statistics[]
To view the various Hunters' personal gameplay statistics, please view the page: Hunter/Statistics
Movement[]
Though all of them will always be slightly faster than Survivors, movement speed is still unique and different to every Hunter, and they will always vault slower through windows than Survivors. Some Hunters have very fast movement speed (e.g. The Ripper, or Geisha), which enables them to close the distance between themselves and an escaping Survivor easier, while others are slower (e.g. Hell Ember, or The Feaster), and are forced to utilize their unique talents (External Traits & Abilities) to find and catch Survivors.
Objectives[]
Hunters are tasked with the goal of hunting down and attacking Survivors, with each normal hit connecting with a Survivor increasing their fear (damage) by half. After two hits (Terror Shocking requires only one hit from Hunters), the Survivor will drop to the ground, incapacitated, where they can then be ballooned and picked up by a Hunter. Hunters must then put the Survivor in a Rocket Chair before they can struggle free, and keep them there until the countdown completes to eliminate them. Hunters must try their best to eliminate all four Survivors before they can fully decode five Cipher Machines, then open and escape through the Exit Gates by using their talents (External Traits & Abilities), which provides them with unique gameplay, pursuing methods, and elimination methods.
Hunters can also opt to let incapacitated Survivors bleed out to eliminate them, though this takes a longer time (240 seconds rather than the Rocket Chair's 60). In "Undead"'s case, however, letting Survivors bleed out is the only way to eliminate them, so he has a special ability that speed up the bleeding out duration to 60 seconds (the time of a Rocket Chair).
Opposition[]
Main Article: Survivor
Hunters can be harassed by Survivors' abilities during the match, and therefore must use a variety of talents (External Traits, Hunter Abilities, and Active Traits) to the fullest, with further Hunter Abilities unlocking the more Presence they gain from attacking Survivors, which disadvantages Survivors more and makes the Hunter's pursuit easier.
Hunters will have a recovery animation, with the length varying between Hunters, after successfully hitting a Survivor, an occupied Rocket Chair, or a Survivor's Tool or item (e.g. Doll summoned by Controller, or Grave Keeper in Dig to Escape mode), during which they must try to not let Survivors get away from their sight, in particular those with a short speed boost after getting hit to down them (e.g. Doctor's, Lawyer's, Gardener's, and Lucky Guy's Veterans).
Hunters will be stunned for a period of time, with the length dependent on themselves, the Survivor's talents (External Traits), and the additional buffs from the Persona Structure when hit by a slammed down Pallet, the Tram in Eversleeping Town, or certain Survivor Tools, items, or talents (External Traits) (e.g. Flare Gun, Enchantress' Ape Curse, Prospector's Magnets, Forward's Rush, "Prisoner"'s charges, going through Priestess' portal Passages, or Batter's Rampage). Being stunned interrupts the Hunters' actions, prevents them from taking any other actions, and knocks any carried Survivors out of their hands.
Type & Tools[]
Unlike Survivors, Hunters do not have classified types, nor do they possess unique Tools, though their respective weapons can be found on their respective pages.

Trivia[]

- Currently, there are 28 playable Hunters added to Identity V.
- Hell Ember is obtained after completing the prologue, while the other Hunters can be purchased for 858 Echoes or 4,508 Clues.
- Smiley Face, The Ripper, and the Gamekeeper can be purchased for a lower price, much like the Magician, the Explorer, and the Mercenary, who are cheaper than the other Survivors.
- The Ripper, the Photographer, Mad Eyes, and The Breaking Wheel, are the only hunters that wield their weapon on their left hand.
- There are currently 4 Hunters who are also Survivors, namely Smiley Face, the Evil Reptilian, the "Nightmare", and "Fool's Gold", who appear as the Weeping Clown, the Professor, the Novelist, and the Prospector respectively.
- Currently, the "Nightmare" and "Fool's Gold" are the only Hunters with a Survivor counterpart released prior to themselves.
