Janet was likely the mother of the Norwell twins, Ithaqua Vilulf and Nathaniel Norwell, as well as the wife of Magistrate Norwell.
Appearance[]
Not much is known about her appearance, but as she is likely the mother of the Norwell twins, she might have similar physical features as them.
Compiled Overview[]
Likely the wife of the Magistrate Norwell within the village in the Plateau of Leng, Janet gave birth to male twins, Nathaniel and Ithaqua. However, only Nathaniel was born alive, as her second child was seemingly stillborn. Due to superstitions regarding stillborn children, Magistrate Norwell believed this was a witch's curse, and told Janet to keep a secret and lie that only one child was born that day. Her stillborn boy was then abandoned in the northern forest.
Alternate Theories and Conclusions[]
- Janet is likely the mother of the Norwell twins, Ithaqua and Nathaniel Norwell, as Magistrate Norwell telling the truth to anyone else would be way too risky, so a secret kept by him and his wife seems the most logical case.
- Janet's stillborn being blamed on a witch's curse might be him twisting the beliefs to keep his wife calm and safe. However, it's possible he indeed believed Lagertha Vilulf was to blame.
- As Lagertha gave seed pods and rowan berries to pregnant women and those in need respectively, as well as being watched over by the church committee, she was likely suspected of being a witch, with this case causing them to believe she cursed Janet.
- As the wife of a Magistrate, she likely had authority in the village as well, however currently this is not confirmed.
