Joshua Plinius was a famous scholar and the husband of the Entomologist, Melly Plinius, before being mysteriously killed by a rare kind of bee venom. He was a nobleman who employed Melly as a maid before falling in love with her.
Compiled Overview[]
Joshua was well-known academic in the science field and in general society for being a very talented and handsome nobleman. He is described to be extroverted, known to have an adventurous, thrill-seeking personality and loving a challenge. He possesses many hobbies and interests, be it things or people, but is fickle and will eventually lose interest in something before moving on to something else that intrigues him. There are some people who a more negative view of Joshua, with some disliking his eccentricities and arrogance. There are rumors that even paint him as a spoiled, rich fool.[1]
At some point, Joshua met Sam Bourbon in college and became close, as they often exchanged correspondence with each other and share a common alma mater. He also came to meet Orpheus through Sam, and nearly worked with the two and another friend, but the potential partnership fell through due to Joshua's lack of interest in it.
Melly was employed at Joshua's manor as a maid before the two fell in love and were married. While still a maid, Melly would sneak into Joshua's study at night in order to research insects to talk to him about. She admired his dedication to and talent for the study of insects.[2] After they were married, the two became unhappy together and a legal separation was issued by the church.[3]
Joshua was later found dead in his research lab, with the cause being a type of rare bee venom. While Melly was sorting though his belongings, she discovered that this type of bee was never recorded in his observation notes. This was suspicious to her due to the meticulous nature of her husband and she believed that he would not have an unrecorded species of bees in his apiary. When Melly received her invitation to the Oletus Manor, it included a specimen of the same rare bee species that killed her husband.[4]
