Judge is a Limited S-Tier Costume for the Photographer, Joseph Desaulniers. It was introduced in Season 13 Essence 2.

The costume's essence was obtainable between October 22nd and December 3rd, 2020.

It is connected to its essence continuation Season 22 Essence 3 Lore.

Appearance

Physical

In this costume, Joseph's face looks shorter and rounder than all his other ones. He has hair similar to that of a bench wig and his eyes are white instead of blue.

Outfit

Joseph dons a black waistcoat, coat, and breeches; the breeches are secured to black stockings with a gold band. The waistcoat and coat are embellished with gold embroidery along the front, and embroidery in the back. His coat is fastened with a golden chain and trimmed with gold. The cuffs of the sleeves are similarly decorated, and peaking out under them are white ruffles and gloves with flaiming ring. Over this, he puts on a black cape embroidered with gold and trimmed with red velvet. He also wears a white jabot with a massive gold brooch around his neck, and black shoes with golden buckles.

His weapon is an ornate shortsword with a golden snake curled around the hilt and lower portion of the blade.

Card

The photograph is now a black card, lined in gold. In the center is a red circle with the Roman numbers VIII, written within it and a golden line below it. the circle is framed with a rectangular gold outline, with intricate gold detailing along the top. On the back, the red circle is replaced with a golden symbol, resembling the Sigil of Lucifer with several sections worn away. The top of the card shines a bright orange, similar to glowing embers, with light golden flames and sparks burning from it.

Camera

His camera is a black balance scale with ornate golden details including a golden snake coiled on the upper half. The fulcrum is imbedded with a large glowing yellow jewel. The scale is slanted to the right, with a black feather on top of the plate.

Special Effects

This costume makes Joseph's blade tip, ring and collar shine a golden color.

The source of madness contains infinite mysteries. The special ruling, unravel the fog. A secret ruling is about to begin. In the tribunal, all "justice" will be declared, and all "evil" will be punished!

Demon possessed? The truth is waiting for you to find out
The once kind and benevolent countess suddenly fell into madness, it is said that she was possessed by a demon, the Holy See advocated burning her to death. But the new nobles felt that everything was a conspiracy by the Holy See. In order to settle the controversy, the king handed her over to a special tribunal, they have served the royal family for a hundred years, the legends are all occult experts, good at dealing with all kinds of supernatural phenomena, no demon can hide itself from them.

The 14th season Essence 2 consists of exquisite rewards such as the Photographer's S costume "Judge", the Thief A costume "Deputy" and the Mind's Eye's A costume "Clerk". In the tribunal, Judge, the identities of Deputy and Clerk are different, different responsibilities, the facial expressions also have their own characteristics. For the origin of madness, regarding the demonic possession advocated by the Holy See, for the great conspiracy that the new nobles believed, what views and positions do they have? The countess on trial under the tribunal and the spectators at the jury beside the tribunal, what role will they play in this incident? The gates of the tribunal are open, in the fierce debate and chase, find the truth and answers!

Supreme Judgment, Insight into people's hearts
"Judge" is the Photographer's first limited and S costume. He is the legendary upright final arbiter, he is also the first Judge to be promoted from Executive Commissioner, some say it was because of his noble birth, some say it was because of his profound knowledge, others say it's because of his sorcery that can deceive people's hearts.

His pale eyes are indifferent, shielded from worldly distractions, make him more just, insight into people's hearts; His judgment robes are black and gold, it implies the majesty of the tribunal and the severity of dealing with evil; Judge scales and snakes hovering over swords, as if winding out, ready to choose someone to eat.

Special Tribunal, The court is about to start! Madness of the Countess, the differences between the Holy See and the new nobility, the debates in the mystic tribunal, all will be experienced by you!

Social Media

Background Story
The highlight theme this time, we chose is trial. The characters in the essence play the judges and defendants of the "Seven Deadly Sins". Then a special tribunal was set up based on the structure of the adjudication agency at that time. The tribunal was composed of the chief referee and the commissioners of each tribunal. Each commissioner corresponds to seven kinds of sins, and they themselves are the incarnations of these seven kinds of sins. Therefore, the reference for their trials is not the law, but whether the accused is pious or not in "faith".

Joseph's setting is the chief Judge who was promoted from the commissioner. He is arrogant and looks down on all living beings. This corresponds to the arrogance of the seven deadly sins——Lucifer. His kindness and compassion based on human nature were all destroyed after his fall. He was burned up by golden flames, so he was fair and ruthless, but we also retained some plot design elements related to the Fallen Morningstar.

In this tribunal, all positions are not fixed, there will be promotions, rotations and vacancies, so there are actually characters that have not appeared, and they will be released in other forms later.

Design Idea Sketch
The overall core design of the Chief Magistrate is the costume of the legal system of the Victorian era. When designing, we wanted the overall clothing to be contemporary and realistic, while adding a sense of design.

The figure above is the first sketch, this sketch basically meets the needs in terms of design, hierarchy and sense of time, but it is slightly lacking in the design of props and details; as we want the hair is curled more naturally, more like real hair; The design of the playing cards needs to be more refined, and the scales in the second plan are more in line with the needs, so we chose this sketch for refinement; and made adjustments based on the first sketch.

The second sketch is basically close to the final effect, the sense of class has not yet reached the requirements of S costume, so the next adjustment is mainly to improve the sense of class.

The third sketch basically meets the desired effect of the character, and the rest is to fill in the three views and details.

Complete the concept and finally complete the three views of the props.

  • It is contrasting to Winter Cicada from the related essence storyline, who represents the virtue of Humility.
• It shares the same name as Seer's Judge Costume.
