Former leading lady of the Golden Rose Theatre Troupe. Once the shining star of the stage, she is renowned for her talent in performing impressions and her memorable performances. Yet, her ambitions reach beyond the theater-she craves social status more than artistic acclaim.

Truth & Inference Introduction

Kroto is the former actress of Golden Rose Theater and one of the the suspects of the case Atropos' Ropes. She and "D.M." indirectly contributed to Lady Bella's cause of death by providing her with belladonna. After the case was over, she left Golden Rose Theatre and joined a new troupe.

Background[]

Kroto was one of the first actresses to join Golden Rose Theatre since the day it was built, along with Lanchesis. However, as talented as she was, she could only become a supporting role and silently watched Lanchesis bathed in glory and fame on the stage. As the theatre went through good and bad times, Kroto kept on witnessing everything that happened on and behind the stage: from the arguments of Lanchesis with "Scrooge", the day Lanchesis fell and died on the stage, and even the innocence of Ronald's father. But she never told anything to anyone, nor to the police. After Lanchesis's death, she still stayed at the theatre and continued to practice performing in the hope of becoming famous one day.

At one point, she met and befriended with Fireworks Guy. He made a promise to show her a magnificent fireworks show at the Crystal Palace. However, they parted their ways due to Kroto's unfinished dream of becoming a star.

When "Scrooge" announced that he would make a sequel to "The Coin of Lanchesis", Kroto was delighted to know that she would gain another chance of shining on the stage. However, to everyone's surprise, "Scrooge" recruited a new actress whose name was Lady Bella, and to Kroto's disappointment, the new play will be centered around her role, "Atropos".

While Lady Bella was being pressured by "Scrooge" during rehearsals, Kroto practiced the role of "Atropos" secretly when nobody was around. Almost every night, she would sing on the stage, making some people mistake her for the late Lanchesis. Her performance was so stunning that some people praised her for being better than Bella, while some called her a copycat for wanting to take over Bella's place.

During this time, "D.M." took an interest in Lady Bella and started to send her letters and belladonna, but most of them were thrown away except for the flowers. Kroto picked them up and decided to pretend to be Bella, writing replies to "D.M." as well as receiving back gifts and quivering flowers (the letters were thrown away or left unopened by Lady Bella). However, she never used the quivering flowers, especially when the said flower was listed as an illegal drug. As she followed in Lady Bella's shadows, Kroto found out that Bella grew addicted to the quivering flower and used them to relieve her stress for her rehearsals.

When Mr. Inference received "D.M."'s commission to investigate Lady Bella, Kroto knew her disguise would be revealed to "D.M.". So to pacify with him, she came back to Lady Bella and told her the truth about her secret relationship with "D.M.". She used the amount of quivering flowers she received from "D.M." to make a deal with Bella. Because the performances were coming up, Bella ultimately agreed to it. This led to her overdose and death.

"Scrooge" and Kroto were the first people to find out this. However, to cheat on insurance policies, "Scrooge" didn't call the police and commanded Kroto to perform in the disguise of Lady Bella, then push her body off the high platforms when the lights went out to make it look like an accident. However, the red scarf - a gift which Kroto received from "D.M." appeared on Lady Bella's body and almost framed her as Lady Bella's murderer. Luckily, thanks to Mr. Inference and Investigating Officer, she was proven innocent and had an alibi.

After the case was over, because of past events, Kroto left the theatre to join another troupe and finally achieve her dream of shining on the stage with a new play about her own life called "Kroto's Chain".

Trivia[]

  • Her alias, "Kroto" is an alternate name of Clotho, one of the three Moirai Sisters (or the Fates), while the other two actresses were Lady Bella (as Atropos) and Lanchesis (as Lanchesis). Clotho is the spinner of the thread of human life and makes major decisions, such as when a person is born, thus in effect controlling people's lives. [1]
  • In "Scrooge"'s epilogue, Mr. Inference found out that through Lanchesis' insurance policies, the policy's beneficiaries were "Scrooge", Kroto and Lanchesis herself. This can explain the origin of the sum of money "Scrooge" gained, and hints that in the past Kroto was also involved in Lanchesis' death, but chose to stay silent about it because she also received a part of the insurance money.
  • Kroto, along with Encore and Fragrance Queen, were the first and remaining people who still stayed at the theatre since its first days after Lanchesis' death.
