Luca's Mother is the mother of Luca Balsa.

Compiled Overview[]

Little is known about Luca's mother. At some point, she met and married Herman Balsa. Together, the two would have a son, Luca.

Unfortunately, Herman's investments and inventions began to deteriorate, leaving him bankrupt. He started auctioning off his manuscripts for more money, which were bought at an unbelievably high price by a man named Alva Lorenz.[2] However, this was not enough to save Herman from his debts, not helped by him continuing to spend money for his research.[3]

In the end, Herman would have to auction off Luca's mother's dowry to pay for them.[4] This action would lead to Luca's mother becoming sick and dying.[1] In her final days, her son would stay by her side, watching over her until she passed.[5] After she passed, Herman would order his son to hide his feelings about this.[6] This would end up sticking with Luca for a long time, maintaining his hatred and being one of the few things Luca would remember, even after forgetting almost everything.[7]

Alternate Theories and Conclusions[]

  • It is assumed Balsa is her maiden name, and Herman took it upon marrying her.
    • Alternatively, Herman could have taken on a false last name with his family to separate his private life from his work life.
  • It is implied the "brown medicine bottles" mentioned in "Prisoner's" 2024 Letter were used to try and save Luca's mother from dying.
  • Despite his closeness with Herman, it is implied Alva was not aware of the existence of Herman's family, only finding out through the newspaper.
