The Manor Staff is a personnel of servants who help facilitate the Manor Games. They are responsible for conducting experiments on the participants, and ensure the games progresses, acting as the overarching antagonistic faction to carry out the mastermind's orders.

Overview[]

They operate under the authority of a mysterious organizer, following their duties with loyalty and minimal emotion. According to Antonio's Experiment File, Andrew Kreiss has been placed on site in advance as a staff to fulfill his task, meaning that Observers rarely blend in as test subjects to participate in any Manor Game per schedule.[1] There are also examples of Executioners who are placed early to monitor their actions.[2] This could also apply to experimental subjects, such as Percy and Leo Beck, that are mentally conditioned to obey commands from their captors, who either work with or for the owner.

Overseeing Games[]

The staff ensures the smooth operations of the elaborating experiments where test subjects risk their lives for a desired outcome based on the design. They handle much of the behind-the-scenes work that is requires for the multiple groups of people that are lure to the manor. Their duties includes;

  • Preparing the Manor's Areas: The servants makes sure the manor has the basic necessities to accommodate the subjects' time living in the manor. They prepare and setup notes and other things throughout the manor that are caters to the flow of each game's progress. They assist the mastermind in planting or falsified items to escalate tension within the group. Additionally, they plant special items onto marked locations to lure in test subjects during the Manor Games and document the events that takes place.[3]
  • Drug Testing: The testers administer different types of drugs to the test subjects and studying their mixed reactions to them.
  • Diary Collection: The staff collects the test subjects' diaries as samples to understand their true personalities.
  • Maximum Imprisonment: They manage the manor's defense system to prevent escape.
  • Observers and Executioners: They deploy Executioners in a Manor Game to discreetly monitor test subjects' mental state or punish them for breaking the rules. Sometimes co-conspirators are placed directly inside a Manor Game to better control test subjects and observe their behaviors. Depending the circumstances and the level of trust they have with mastermind, not all staff members' safety are guaranteed and are treated no better than the normal test subjects.

Backstory[]

Newspaper coverage of a new unknown owner recruiting positions with higher salaries.

Newspaper coverage of a new unknown owner recruiting positions with higher salaries.

An anonymous aristocrat named Baron DeRoss revived his family estate in Glasgow, Scotland and became the new Lord of the Manor. He rehired the previous staff with different arrangements and offered unusual high wages for a variant number of resources. At some point, Bane Perez turned the forest into his own dark territory after being ambushed by poachers, ready to execute the Baron’s orders. Burke Lapadura on the other hand, goes mad to transform the grounds as a secret experiment site after failing his duty to protect the boy's parents from the mob, serving under the new mysterious owner alongside with Bane. Guard 26 was upgraded by Burke not as a guardian, but as a dangerous weapon in case if another attack happens.

Most parts of the manor resumed normally function, though neglected wings such as the church, woodland, and hunting grounds that remained idled. Yet something felt off, Staff turnover was abnormally high, and their recruitment had never ceased to exist. The Baron sent out invitations to “games” held within the manor’s restored walls despite growing ominous rumors.

Laz Church Cemetery Dealings[]

Following a meeting at a sponsor's seminar, Dr. Percy and his assistant Mikhail had employed someone named "Andrew Kreiss" for corpse trafficking purposes with materials of "slabs" to help facilitate their plans on researching human experimentation. Unfortunately, their plan backfires as soon as Andrew was caught robbing a grave once and fled from discrimination. Soon, Andrew receives an unsigned letter from a proxy named "M.S." to suggestively leave Laz Cemetery with a train ticket to an old acquaintance's distant residence to make tombstones of "slabs."[4] He accepts a high waging job there as a big opportunity for his return to the Temple.

During Andrew's departure, Baron DeRoss sent another letter to Percy about him previously rejecting an invitation to Cologny. Despite the censorship, his staff have still gained access to Percy’s research with his proxy’s help, indicating surveillance or manipulation, which was close to a threat but the Baron cloaks it as admiration. Eventually, he implies that his team can offer “more effective methods of verification,” referencing Electrophysiology study being conducted at the Manor. Percy felt unimpressed and still declined the offer as he wasn’t interested of being one of the Manor’s organizers.[5] Afterwards, Mikhail critically warns Dr. Percy's cautious pace about bringing a person back from the dead. A risky miracle happens when Percy succeeded in reanimating a corpse. However, this resulted in getting both of them killed.

The next day, the police discovers Dr. Percy's underground laboratory for inspection on his research. No experimental records were found, possibly destroyed or taken. Most equipment was water-damaged, though one electrical device still functioned and was used in a simulation involving an animal carcass. While the body twitched under high voltage, it showed no consciousness. Their report highlights Percy’s connections to the Laz Church Cemetery, but recommends ending the experiments publicly for lack of scientific basis and urges tighter ethical oversight, reaffirming the rejection of Count Barriere’s recommendation of Percy to the Royal Society. Then, Dr. Lapadura digged up Percy’s grave and transported his body into Oletus Manor to resurrect him, most likely to learn how to bring Participants back to life after their Eliminations.[6]

After all participants arrived at the Manor, they were informed that the Manor Game would start three days later. Subject 3-?-3 and 3-?-1 got along with each other due to 3-?-3's obsession with letters and 3-?-1 having someone who understood him. Subject 3-?-1 even had some intentions of embalming him and his dog later on.

Once the testers had administered the drugs on the Group, Subject 3-?-1 was the only one that wasn't affected by the drugs. However, Subject 3-1-2 became extremely aware of 3-1-4 due to the unexplained loud noises she hears coming from his room, such as swinging his cricket bat to dull his own anxiety. When Subject 3-1-4 caused loud noises with his loss of control triggered by bright lights, Subjects 3-?-1 and 3-?-3 neutralized and locked him in a pitch black room.

After a while, Subject 3-1-2 writes 3-1-4 an anonymous letter proposing a dusk meeting in order to disable his symptoms and stop him. Before Subject 3-1-4 receives the note from her, it alters its own content, adding a threatening tone. It was revealed that the Manor's co-conspirators covertly sabotaged an attempt at peace between the two participants with interference,[EA 1] engineering failure and mistrust for "observation" as a means to conserve drastic measures that concluded the group's terrible deaths in this disastrous experiment before the game could begin.[MG 4]

At Andrew's arrival, he was hired to work as a Manor Staff and was later used as a test subject labeled "3-0-1" to bury the five performers within the owner's task of handling "slabs" as a silent proxy.[MG 17] During a party, the test subjects felt the effects of the drugs that Andrew served and silently studied their reactions,[MG 17] which made Subject 3-?-2 go off the rails in attempt to perform an uncontrollable "wheel act,"[MG 18] then Subject 3-1-3 returning to his room and also began to exhibit strange symptoms with a demon that had taken full control of his body, as he scattered musical notes everywhere while laughing.[MG 19]

Andrew forced him and the violin into a wooden casket, but even then, Subject 3-1-4 was always polite to the proxy and used his alliance to know the manor’s layout in exchange of attempting to get info out of him. Andrew had orchestrated an arson under the stage that made her shriek horrified vocal songs, leading to her own ultimate demise.[MG 18] Now, as the sole victor of this game, all that remains is to wait patiently for the employer to fulfill his promise.

Meanwhile, the last test subject, 3-1-5, had always disguised their true intentions and Andrew failed to perceive their hostility. They praised Andrew for burying the other performers, a facade crafted through acting and determined his fate.[MG 20] The Game was officially cancelled afterwards for their Disqualification but nonetheless, the conductors prepares for the third group upon schedule.[MG 21]

Rise of the Undead[]

Around the time, Percy was reanimated as an "Undead Test Subject" but displayed sluggish movement, no memory, and a docile demeanor. Overtime, tests revealed his pain sensitivity and emotional range after suffering exposure from high-voltage shocks and flame. This triggers a transformation from fear to rage, leading him to break free from restraints and attempts to escape from Burke's laboratory. Despite his gargantuan form and superior strength, he was recaptured by Guard 26 after subduing him so easily.

Over three weeks, Percy began learning mechanics and applied his knowledge by modifying his own body, indicating growing self-awareness and autonomy. Alarmed by this evolution, Burke terminated the experiment and placed Percy into permanent dormancy but took knowledgeable note of him serving for the Baron in the future.[7]

On July 13th, 1899, the test finally began at an imitation of Arms Factory.[MG 31] During the first portion of the experiment, Subject No. 1-12-22-13 killed both Subjects 4-0-3 and 4-0-4. Subject 4-1-1 was the last survivor standing when she encountered him. Her presence seemed to trigger Leo's emotions and memories, with that undoing much of the brainwashing. He called her by her real name "Lisa", but she did not recognize him and was afraid of him.

This emotional breach marked the collapse of the experiment's control protocol when he spares his daughter, infuriating the staff. Following this emotional reawakening, Subject 1-12-22-13 began to disobey commands and escalated to aggression against the experiments' orchestrators, including one or likely multiple attempts to attack the so-called "master." The testers tried six different psychiatric treatments and drug regimens, but all failed to suppress Subject 1-12-22-13’s growing autonomy and hostility.

With prior treatments failing, the testers moved on to the final, irreversible step of incineration. Afterwards, Leo would be brought back to the Sacred Heart Hospital.[8] Lisa survived this game and went on to play another one, but has lost her memories and feels sad about it.[9] At some point she dies[10]

The details of this Manor Game is still unknown, but one of the Manor staff organizers received an assignment from the Host and conducts a test involving Item 5-0-3-U at Lakeside Village to test bioenergetic phenomena due to hearing myths of the item's mysterious powers.[EA 2] They placed the ancient chinese umbrella at Point X on the ship's second floor in a controlled humid environment, choosing to lure in Subject 5-0-3 due to Item 5-0-3-U’s unusual magnetic field reactions under such conditions.[EA 3] If he fails to arrive at the site any soon then they'll have no choice but to terminate the project for the next experiment.[EA 4] Later on, the third test subject arrives and reaches the marked location. He navigates a strange Chinese watermark and the increasing humidity near Item 5-0-3-U until his soul embraces two incomprehensible spirits of the underworld.[EA 3] After "possessing" the item, he went ahead to find Subject 5-0-2.[EA 5]

The purpose of this Manor Game is to test the boundaries between truth, faith, and supernatural insight, though risks hidden dangers of involving entities. The Manor staff is not just merely testing a medical compound, but is conducting a psychological and metaphysical experiment on chosen candidates with ancient knowledge on folklore and record Lakeside Village’s paranormal phenomena. Subject 6-1-3 comes to the same location from the previous Manor Game to hire a private investigator named Arthur Russell from a hidden organization to largely probe the premises and the cursed village's nearby cave with his team,[11] but she quickly gets interested in the arrival of two more participants with a biologist and a famous writer of 'Lakeside Trails.'

After an unfortunate accident claims Subject 6-1-2’s life, 6-1-3 becomes more deeply entangled in the experiment and eventually uncovers a fragment of supernatural truth hidden at the bottom of the lake. At some point, Subjects 6-1-4 and 6-0-5 gets wary of her for being too nosy with her Holy Key. The writer throws the situation into absolute chaos and ends up sacrificing Subject 6-1-3.

When the experiment ends, all of the remaining test subjects were sent into a processing room by the Manor personnel. Then, the 5 test subjects especially 6-1-2’s remains in the group vanished successively one by one in the next 3 days, leaving behind a puddle of cold water besides Subject 6-1-4 because he was able to keep his distance from danger during the game. Subject 6-1-3’s failure to escape concludes that even prophets who are trapped in the game were never meant to win.

Orpheus' Experiment Memo in Game 6A.

In the aftermath, an unknown mastermind as one of the higher up staffers known as Orpheus caused unpredictable consequences with his miscalculated phases including supernatural transformations or exposure. Incidents involving Subjects 6-1-4 and 6-0-5 were serious enough to require stricter containment. However, he introduces an alternative interpretation of his colleague, Sam Bourbon's sample called "Delphi."[12] Until then, Orpheus realizes what went wrong with his memo. He's missing phases 2, 4 and 5. As surveillance and scrutiny rises from someone, he suggests an urgent cover-up with a new assistant to mix concoctions of Dovlin while not knowing the manor's experiments or escape set to motion in case if his identity gets exposed. Eventually, his staff made a decision to put Subject 6-1-4 in the next game.

Not much is known about the staff's information in this Manor Game, but the Baron ordered experts to reconstruct Count Barriere's carnival to mimic an incident where the jester's killing spree occurred under the spotlight. They inserted riddle songs on Cipher Machines with various snippets to represent each member being turned on and foreshadow their fates prior to Subject 8-0-1's invitation to "perform" at the organizer’s establishment. Each nursery rhyme once the riddles are solved indicates:

The prince who lives on the star asked the sun in the sky, "Do you see the fireworks? They light up so high. They're as beautiful as illusions, so could you please not rise?"[EA 6]

The knight with the wooden sword, how does he look so proud? Where's he bound? Where's his horse and his battleground. His name and glory, nowhere to be found.[EA 7]

The princess by the lake wears a gown so fine, She fades away as she steps into the water's shine, Stumbled upon an exit in time, forever entwined.[EA 8]

The jester who can't laugh, oddly he waggles. Bound by his secrets, he built his own shackles. Walked down the wrong path, there's no turning back.[EA 9]

The king asked: "What do you see?" The prince said "Stars"; jester said: "Flames." The king asked: "What do you hear?" Prince said: "Laugh sounds so clear." The jester said: "A tear, like a sad song coming near."[EA 10]

At some point, one of the Host’s butlers wrote a playbill for Subject 8-0-1 to read on the table that said: "They want to ride the roller coaster, but there are only four seats," implying one's sacrifice to fulfill and predict the experimental outcome before the Group’s rehearsal. Additionally, they added Lizzie Borden’s name as a secret message in case of further escalating tension on the Group.[EA 11]

However, Subject 8-0-1 was not originally selected for medicinal testing as she was not the primary focus of this experiment. Despite this, she was observed closely due to her notably naive disposition. Although the medicine was eventually administered, it did not produce the expected behavioral changes.[EA 12] As a result, the testing staff added drugs into the perfumes made by "VN" for Subject 8-1-4’s arrival to hallucinate Subject 8-0-3 as her former lover‘s horrific persona.[EA 13]

When the whole Group arrives at Oletus Manor they all didn't expect to see each other's familiar faces after surviving the Moon River Park Massacre for a reunion, the circus that Subject 8-?-2 considered a family which ended up in taking everyone's lives away from a tragedy. On the second night before Subject 8-0-1’s cold demise,[EA 14] an orchestrator followed the experiment’s design by putting in new invitation letters inside of the golden ball’s components as a puzzle in the Greenhouse for the remaining four participants, giving each star their codes for their "performance", and posters of the next phase starting in 3 days at 9 P.M., those who complete it before midnight are promised everything they desire.

A few days later after the three "Hullabaloo" circus members' deaths in Moonlit River Park, Subject 8-?-5 came out on top as a Sole Survivor of this destructive final performance. He lost his sense of belonging and fell into emptiness within isolation away from his brother he once had, resulting him being the first to be assassinated by a hooded soldier known as Naib Subedar before the new game scheduled in December.[EA 15] Despite this, he had accepted a mysterious mission from Arthur Russell who once helped a messenger out in her Manor Game.[MG 46] However, Naib gets trapped here with three suspected witnesses and has no choice but to remain vigilant in the next group.[MG 47]

On December 9th, Subject 9-?-3 conducted his own investigation at the Manor he sneaked after his assassination mission, trying to find clues for his horrible suspicions. He then discovered some clues and strange items from Group 4. Subject 9-?-3 went outdoors to check on a frozen boar, and as 9-?-3 reflected on his investigation, he came to the conclusion that his group weren't the first people coming to the Manor with invitations offering tempting "prizes." Later on, he asked his teammates about their reports for the past few days until Subject 9-?-2 handed him a card to flip about a "human-record diary." It had soon came to 9-?-3's conclusion that he figured out they're part of this sick experiment with the staff collecting their samples.[MG 52]

On December 12th, The Manor Personnel decided to deploy Bane Perez to punish the surviving members of Group 9, including Subject 9-?-3 for murdering two participants with 9-?-2’s manipulated help, which was against the "4-Man Game" rule. Both Subjects attempted to flee from the experiment. Unfortunately, they were caught by Bane and was put into Processing Room 4. The Staff then wrote 9-?-3’s fake letter to Arthur Russell, claiming that his mercenary's mission was accomplished and demanded him to send the payment to 9-?-3's homeland to end further communications as they make sure that he could no longer bother them ever again to expose the Manor’s secrets.

On the afternoon of December 15th, Subject 9-?-3 escaped the Processing Room and left a note for the Host of knowing everything about his staff’s secret project, refusing to follow the rules in his experiment. This led to Baron DeRoss' decision to call in Burke Lapadura to assist Bane’s investigation of Subject 9-?-3’s whereabouts. His location was unknown, but there was evidence that he is still present in hiding behind the Manor's walls.[MG 53] Sooner or later, Subject 9-?-2 witnessed Bane executing someone who closely resembles 9-?-3 and attempts to flee into Bane’s territory. However, Bane and Burke found him and brought him back into Processing Room 4. He struggled against them while asking about his companion’s status. He was locked in the Manor and it is currently unknown what would happened to him after that.

The purpose of this Manor Game is to assess the risks of the operational mechanism of the experiments. The Host wants to make sure the gates, ciphers and other risks of the mechanisms are checked due to the last group's attempted efforts to escape and Subject 10-0-1 was the perfect candidate for that, so she was the first person to arrive as a replacement for someone who failed before her. The problem is that she was too smart, which made Burke Lapadura become the Executioner in charge of observing and monitoring her every action from the start.

When Subject 10-0-2 arrives later, things get complicated when they made a strong alliance and that might be troublesome for the mastermind including Burke as he feels bad for them since they remind him of the DeRoss family's children. He requested his Baron if he can let them escape without killing them. During the experiment, Guard 26 was his only loyal machine of performing tasks according to its master's present commands.

No. 26 was tasked by Burke to carry out preventive observations and interventions on the game as an executioner. Subjects like 10-0-1 and 10-0-2 were curious about Guard 26 at first and one of them ended up dismantling the machine's stability component while Burke wasn't looking. At this rate, Burke got very upset about Subject 10-0-1's attempt to give his assistant autonomy and deleted the machine recordings he documented on the first and second day of this experiment, but luckily had a new batch delivered to his secret facility.

Sooner or later, Subject 10-0-1 manages to pass all the tests of the game with the help of 10-0-2, but as the environment starts being filled with conflicts of interest, suspicion and betrayal, they are unable to maintain their teamwork. Subject 10-0-1 lays down subtle traps that lead to 10-0-2’s failure, while Subject 10-1-3 came to the experimental site to present his aircraft designs with its mechanisms.

In the end, Subject 10-0-1 can’t get the last ‘correct answer within the timeframe given because of a missing piece of information’. Things don’t turn out as she had hoped. It is unknown what happened with her incorrect answer but Subject 10-0-2 was the last victor that remained standing with other potential candidates eliminated.

Burke inspects the Manor’s machinery one last time, and sensed a profound stillness. Once believing he and No. 26 were vital components in the energy of the system, he realized that he was too obsessed with machines due to his paranoia, even in correcting all non-compliance of human nature and overlooked how observation itself affects outcomes. He questions the purpose behind his actions and begins to distance himself from his rigid ideals.[13] Ultimately, Burke retired from the Manor to abandon its ongoing research and left Subject 10-0-2 to utilize his hidden chamber, gaining his own advantage to be prepare for the next game.[EA 16]

Alternate Theories and Conclusions[]

PrisonerPersonalitySprite
The below article or section(s) contains speculation, analysis, or theories which may include unconfirmed information.
When adding content, use references to link or explain legitimate/official supportive evidence for specific theories, otherwise it may be removed.
  • It is heavily theorized that Baron DeRoss is Orpheus, as he used the money he earned from his novels to buy the Manor and utilize its valuable sources in order to seek a cure for Alice DeRoss's memories.
    • "Orpheus" is a pseudonym he had used in public to write his novels but suspiciously claims that he's not allowed to reveal his real name given the agreement with his publisher.[14]
    • Orpheus met an aristocratic family in the Mediterranean when they were funding a rare symbiote plant for an extraction with Sam Bourbon's help. Despite the fact that he wasn't that famous at the time, it shouldn't have been possible.[12]
      • While Orpheus does mention of needing a new assistant to replace Sam Bourbon, this theory however, can be counterpointed with him implying to be an overseer for the First Game 6, as Orpheus has analyzed that "preventive measures" are required to avoid incidents in Lakeside Village that involves Luchino Diruse and Arthur Byers' lives.[15] It is also possible that he could've been in charge of the experimental staff instead who works for the manor owner.
      • Despite Orpheus and Sam's close connections, it is important to note that the writer in Demi Bourbon's 2023 Letter mentions he made a miscalculation about a "masterpiece" that once belonged to his former colleague, suggesting to be her brother. This theory can be further highlighted of wanting to keep Demi as a rare "insider."
        • Assuming that Sam has been Orpheus' assistant or a colleague of Baron DeRoss during his time working at Oletus Manor, it is highly unlikely that both of them are the same person.
    • Additionally, his Villain Charm costume or Bizarro Detective accessory strongly supports the theory that matches the narrative of Orpheus seen as a false protagonist and a present version of his "Other Self".
      • However, it is currently unknown if it's his Nightmare persona that's been running the drug tests while his original self is somewhere lost to find his own wrongdoings.
  • Norton Campbell might be working for the staff hired by an unnamed Employer to assassinate a “woman” for a sizeable payment.[16]

  1. In Batter's 2024 Letter 2. Methodology: The initial note was authored by 3-1-2, but before 3-1-4 saw it, we subtly modified its wording to intensify a threatening tone. It is worth noting that, while 3-1-2 did not genuinely cooperate, he merely sought to control 3-1-4's actions in order to prevent further gameplay, without considering even more drastic measures.
  2. An unknown author in Wu Chang's 2022 Letter: "The legends of item 5-0-3-U state that it contains mysterious powers."
  3. 3.0 3.1 An unknown author in Wu Chang's 2022 Letter of Test Preparations: "Place item 5-0-3-U at Point X on Ship A in Lakeside Village, then control the humidity in the area to reach the point where the highest degree of change is observed in the magnetic field."
  4. An unknown author in Wu Chang's 2022 Letter of Test Preparations: "If Subject 5-0-3 enters the game, lure him to a marked location. If Subject Subject 5-0-3 isn't able to enter the game, this test record will be temporarily terminated."
  5. In Wu Chang's 2022 Letter’s Obervation Record: Subject 5-0-3 has successfully entered the game Subject 5-0-3 is at the marked location and has noticed the abnormal watermark. In addition, the environment there is exceptionally humid, and the humidity increases with proximity to item 5-0-3-U.
Subject 5-0-3 is attempting to decode the watermark.
Subject 5-0-3 seems to have seen something that is beyond observation.
Subject 5-0-3 seems to have been affected and fallen into confusion..
    .. (The content is smudged.)
Subject 5-0-3's emotion is gradually stabilizing, and his mental state is taking a turn for the better.
Subject 5-0-3 has left the marked location and is heading to Subject 5-0-2's location..
    ..
  6. In Acrobat's 2022 Letter 2. Methodology: Subject 8-?-2 came to the manor to find out the truth and didn't expect to meet old friends from "Hullabaloo." From the moment Subject 8-0-1 was assaulted, Subject 8-?-2 had a vague answer to his questions, and the light was shone on the numerous dark events of the past.
  7. In Wildling's 2022 Letter 3. Analysis Summary: Based on his experience, Subject 8-?-5's greatest need is to explore his value as a "person" and find a sense of belonging. Growing up in a circus, being trained as a "wildling"... all made him devoid of a sense of belonging. He wasn't a glamorous performer in the circus, nor was he an uncivilized savage or animal.
  8. In Female Dancer's 2022 Letter 1. Overall Evaluation: Natasha, Natalie, Margaret... None of these identities could give Subject 8-1-4 true freedom. As an outsider, Natasha wasn't able to integrate herself into Lakeside Village (her caregiver was even made into a sacrifice). In the circus, Natalie was covered in bruises from her husband and had no choice to confide in Subject 8-0-3. Margaret seemed to finally be free of her restraints. Still her pursuit of a better life became an invisible shackle on her—this is also the source of her suffering and why she came to the manor.
  9. In Weeping Clown/Smiley Face’s 2022 Letter 1. Overall Evaluation: Before being disfigured, Subject 8-0-3 was a weeping clown who brought laughter to the audience with his comedic expressions, but behind that mask was his inferiority complex and fragility. The tragedy in Moon River Park crushed Subject 8-0-3's mask of sadness. He put on a smiling mask and started resolving problems with violence.
  10. In Acrobat's 2022 Letter 3. Experiment Summary: One of the greatest uncertainties in this experiment was how the once optimistic Subject 8-?-2 would take revenge. Subject 8-?-2's final decision to give up on revenge was in-line with his character—his family in "Hullabaloo" circus was always the most important to him. Such attachment to family is childish and ignorant. When the darkness of "Hullabaloo" was exposed, Subject 8-?-2 realized that his stage of happiness only existed in that short peaceful memory (I can empathize with this.) Once his core value collapsed, Subject 8-?-2 couldn't face reality in a mature manner anymore. This once again proves that naivety and optimism cannot last in the game.
  11. In Weeping Clown/Smiley Face’s 2022 Letter 2. Methodology: As designed by the experiment, a sheet of rehearsal schedule left on the table became the start of the disagreements between the members of "Hullabaloo."
  12. In Soul Weaver's 2022 Letter 2. Procedure: It wasn't the plan to use the medicine on No. 8-0-1, and it didn't affect the subject's behavior as we thought it would anyway. Therefore, we've allotted a serial no. based on the results for now. No. 8-0-1 wasn't the core of this experiment, but her naive personality was worth looking into, so we didn't plan to use the medicine on No. 8-0-1.
  13. In Female Dancer's 2022 Letter 2. Methodology: Under the influence of drugs, Subject 8-1-4 mistook Subject 8-0-3 for the smiling clown, Sergi—her former lover and nightmare. At one point in time, she truly missed the kinship between the "Hullabaloo" circus members. But once she recognized Subject 8-0-3, Subject 8-1-4 went back to her old ways, using her beauty and frailty to seek sympathy and protection from others.
  14. In Weeping Clown/Smiley Face’s 2022 Letter: After removing Subject 8-0-1's mechanical leg, he threw Subject 8-0-1 out of the manor and left Subject 8-0-1—who was immobilized—to die in the snow.
  15. In Wilding's 2022 Letter 2. Methodology: The experiment in this group concluded with a destructive ending, and Subject 8-?-5 became the only survivor. However, when everyone but him was eliminated, the sense of belonging and self-awareness Subject 8-?-5 had built up over the course of the experiment collapsed once more. This resulted in him being the first to be eliminated from the 9th group before the experiment even began.
  16. "Prisoner" in his 2024 Letter: That gaunt old man is no longer in the manor. I now utilize the hidden chamber that once served as his refuge — the new participants give me an intuitive sense of danger.

  2. See Embalmer's 2023 Letter.
  3. See Postman's 2023 Letter.
  4. This Manor Game was cancelled due to the fact that all participants died before the Game started. This is confirmed by the Manor's later beginning of a second and third Group 3. See Violinist's 2023 Letter for further details.
  5. 5.0 5.1 5.2 This Manor Game was cancelled due to all Test Subjects failing to reach the Final Stage before their disqualifications and eliminations, as revealed in Violinist's 2023 Letter. The Manor later began experimenting on the third Group 3.
  6. 6.0 6.1 6.2 See Grave Keeper's 2024 Letter.
  7. 7.0 7.1 7.2 7.3 It is revealed in Grave Keeper's Character Relations Web that Andrew buried Antonio, The Will Brothers and Sangria. However, it is worth noting that Andrew is one of the Manor's "staff", more specifically, a uniquely tasked participant, as revealed in Violinist's 2023 Letter and Grave Keeper's 2025 Letter, and he also carried Antonio away for burial when Antonio lost control during the First Stage of the experiment. Moreover, it is confirmed that the deaths of the buried participants were actually caused by the Manor using drugged consumables in order to make the participants lose their composure, and the burials were a part of Andrew's given objectives.
  8. 8.0 8.1 Even though it is not confirmed yet, it seems like Andrew's elimination was caused by Marcus Thorne.
  9. 9.0 9.1 See The Breaking Wheel's 2023 Letter, which mentions the interaction between the Will Brothers and Andrew in the Manor, as well as the intriguing and exciting feeling of one of the three siblings as he couldn't wait to meet other participants who would arrive the day later. Additionally, Andrew was the first one to arrive in his Group. From the aforementioned details, we can firmly deduce the serial number of the siblings, as well as that of Sangria due to the final participant has been confirmed in The Breaking Wheel's 2024 Letter to be a male individual.
  10. The Will Brothers are confirmed to have participated in the same Group 3 with Andrew Kreiss. See The Breaking Wheel's 2023 Letter for further details.
  11. 11.0 11.1 11.2 11.3 Similarly to the first Group 3's Manor Game, this Group had no designated hunter nor executioner, thus essentially making every participant capable of having hallucinations of viewing others' appearances as threatening individuals.

  13. See Violinist's 2023 Letter.
  14. See Violinist's 2023 Letter and Grave Keeper's 2024 Letter.
  15. Opera Singer is confirmed to have participated in the same Group 3 with Andrew Kreiss. See her Relations Menu page for further details.
  16. Referenced in The Breaking Wheel's 2025 Letter as "the fellow with a billiard cue".
  17. 17.0 17.1 Andrew is one of the Manor's "staff", more specifically, a uniquely tasked participant in Game 3B
  18. 18.0 18.1 See Grave Keeper's 2025 Letter.
  19. See Violinist's 2023 Letter.
  20. Even though it is not confirmed yet, it seems like Andrew's elimination was caused by Subject 3-1-5.
  21. This Manor Game was cancelled due to all Test Subjects failing to reach the Final Stage before their disqualifications and eliminations, as revealed in Violinist's 2023 Letter. The Manor later began experimenting on the third Group 3.
  22. The Diary segments for Emma Woods and Emily Dyer shows them accessing and exploring the Arms Factory. It is however implied that this version is actually a copy of the original Minerva Arms Factory. Freddy Riley mentions during Doctor's Diary segment that he believes Arms Factory to be a replica of the original Minerva Armory.

Alice DeRoss also mentions in Hell Ember's 6th Character Day Letter, Leo Beck: Investigation FieldNotes[sic] I, that: "When I arrived at the "Minerva Factory," once a beacon of hope but now defunct, I found it had long since been replaced by new shops."
This implies the original Minerva Arms Factory had long since been demolished and replaced with new buildings.
  23. The Diary segments for Emma Woods and Emily Dyer show them access Arms Factory, beginning their Manor Game, on July 13th.
  24. As Emma Woods' age is listed as 22 years old in her Relations Menu, this can be assumed to be the age at which her Manor game took place. We can determine her birth date to be December 21st, 1876 due to the conclusion of Lawyer's 6th Deduction Quest, Troublemaker, mentioning: "A letter: Leo Beck and Martha Beck invite Freddy to attend Lisa's first birthday party on December 21st, 1877."
This implies that Lisa was born a year earlier, on the same date in 1876. This would place a 22 years old Emma involved in the Manor game that took place in July in the year 1899.
  25. It should be noted that Hell Ember's serial number is different from those of other subjects in most of the Manor Games, possibly because it was assigned by B.A. and the other experiment staff at Sacred Heart Hospital rather than the usual authors of the other experiment files. It is further implied B.A. assigned Leo his serial number in Hell Ember's 3rd Character Day Letter, A case review file left behind in the Sacred Heart Hospital, where B.A: mentions: "Perhaps I shouldn't have named an experimental subject. After December 21, "Cinder" will simply be Subject No. 1-12-22-13."
  26. 26.0 26.1 Emily Dyer is shown being attacked by Hell Ember in her Diary segments, leading to her elimination.

Lawyer's 2023 Birthday Event questions mention that: "Question 5: "Whose elimination was closely linked to Freddy Riley?" ", with the correct answer being the option: "Emily Dyer"
  27. 27.0 27.1 27.2 27.3 Emma Woods appears to be the only survivor of the "Thistle Thorn" Manor game. She mentions in Gardener's 4th Birthday Letter, A Letter Attached with Dried Thistle and Without Recipient Information, that: "My new friends in this group warned me in secret to keep a record of everything, just in case my memories would start to deceive me."
This shows that Emma survived the experiment and fled Arms Factory, leading to her immediate inclusion into another test group which didn't include her past teammates.

Later in the same letter, she also mentions that: "Yes, I've won the previous round, for now [...]"
  28. It's implied that Hell Ember spared Emma's life once he recognized her, despite the heavy behavioral drugs he was subjected to, and allowed her to escape the Arms Factory. Emma Woods mentions in Gardener's 4th Birthday Letter, A Letter Attached with Dried Thistle and Without Recipient Information, in regards to her interaction with Hell Ember: "Lisa, Lisa... I don't know why, but writing this name makes my eyes sting.
Maybe that weirdo knows me, but I'm unable to place him in any of my puzzle pieces."

An un unknown author mentions in Hell Ember's 4th Character Day Letter, Message Hidden Inside the Wooden Box Transported in Secret to Sacred Heart Hospital, that: "Subject 1-12-22-13's self-awareness broke free of the memory blockade at the end of the experiment, and Subject 1-12-22-13 regained some emotion as a result of Subject 4-1-1's provocation."

Alice DeRoss mentions in Hell Ember's 6th Character Day Letter, Leo Beck: Investigation FieldNotes[sic] I, in regards to the experimentation staff: "The reports highlight a particularly striking incident: all drug control measures failed to affect him."
  29. 29.0 29.1 Kreacher Pierson is shown being burnt alive while inside of Mr. Skelkro by Emma Woods in her Diary segments, leading to his elimination.

An unknown author mentions in Thief's 3rd Birthday Letter, A Page from Kreacher Pierson's Experiment File, that: "4-0-2 was the first subject to be eliminated from the game. He was immobilized by Subject 4-1-1's trap in the manor."

An unknown author mentions in Gardener's 3rd Birthday Letter, A Page from Emma Woods' Experiment File, in regards to Kreacher Pierson that: "In contrast, during this process, Subject 4-1-1 persisted in her revenge plan against Subject 4-0-2. In the game, Subject 4-1-1 burned the scarecrow to symbolize her revenge."
  30. An unknown author mentions in Lawyer's 3rd Birthday Letter, A Page from Freddy Riley's Experiment File, in regards to Freddy Riley that: "[...] but this behavioral characteristic was limited to his exchanges with No. 4-0-4, making him less careful against the deadlier threat."
The wording implies that his careful attitude lessened once Emily Dyer had been eliminated, causing him to fall victim to Hell Ember.
  31. The Diary segments for Emma Woods and Emily Dyer shows them accessing and exploring the Arms Factory. It is likely that this version is a copy of the original Minerva Arms Factory. Freddy Riley mentions during Doctor's Diary segment that he believes the Arms Factory to be a replica of the original Minerva Armory.

  35. This person (and their death) is mentioned in Priestess's 2022 Letter. It is possible they died some time before the main event of the Manor Game could start, and so had to be replaced by 6-1-6, similar to how the Servais Le Roy replaced the missing Murro Morton.
  36. 36.0 36.1 According to Priestess's 2022 Letter, Fiona was "sacrificed" by Arthur Byers at the Manor.
  37. It is implied that Arthur Byers is the Survivor Identity Switch for The Feaster, but this is currently unconfirmed.

  60. Based on the information given by Mechanic's 2023 Letter, it is likely that he was the third participant to arrive at the Manor.
  61. See Mechanic's 2023 Letter.
  62. Note that this participant's experimental number is not confirmed yet, however it is highly likely that this participant was the last in the Group to arrive, given the information provided by Mechanic's 2023 Letter. Furthermore, the number "10-?-4" is only deduced based on aforementioned details, and does not represent the Manor's drugging progress on this participant.
  63. Confirmed by the group's appearance in Cage of Yesteryear.
