Miles Donald is a minor character and Michiko's husband as mentioned in her Deduction Quests.

Character Details[]

Appearance[]

Miles is described as a 'young man with a tall nose and deep eyes'.[1] He is also described as tall.[2]

Events Before Identity V[]

Miles first met Michiko at a banquet.[3] He gradually fell in love with her, showering her with gifts as well as bringing her to his homeland as his wife.

However, his father did not approve of their marriage. While Miles was away from home, he murdered Michiko, saying that she had run away and that Miles should find a new wife. Miles, however, did not believe his father's words. Determined to find his beloved, Miles began to ask others if they had seen her and posted missing person notices.

Miles' friend, Martha Behamfil, offered to help him look for clues regarding Michiko's disappearance, mentioning a 'Keepsake' of importance within their letter. Unfortunately, the Keepsake had already been auctioned by the auction house by the time they were able to locate it, and the item had fallen into the hands of a new owner. Behamfil offered to help Miles visit the manor of the gentleman whom the Keepsake was sold to, asking if Miles would also like to come with them to the destination.[4]

Miles successfully arrived at the mentioned manor, except there seemed to be a change in plans and Behamfil had not arrived with him. On the third day of his stay, a manor servant handed him the keepsake promised; the hatpin Michiko once wore - implied to be a gift from Miles. He noticed its state, observing that "the jewels had fallen off, and the end of the hatpin had been sharpened", and that "It looked more like a tool than an accessory". Miles was offered the chance to leave the manor with the hatpin, or to instead stay at the manor and play its "game" in exchange to hearing the end of the story the manor owner promised. Miles chose to stay.

Sometime later, a package was sent to Miles's residence, but he never received it. In it was the hatpin, now repaired. There was also a yellowed photograph of Miles and Michiko standing on the Togetsu-kyo Bridge in spring. In addition to the package, the Department of Veteran Affairs also included documents from an active duty information request application that he had sent regarding Martha.

Alternate Theories and Conclusions[]

  • Miles is mentioned to be a "foreign army officer" in Michiko's official backstory. His friend with the surname Behamfil is therefore most likely Martha Behamfil, who is also a part of the military.
    • This is further supported by the she/her pronouns used when referring to Behamfil and her name being mentioned in Geisha's 2023 Letter.
    • However, as "Martha Behamfil"'s identity has been stolen by the Coordinator it is unknown whether the Behamfil mentioned in Geisha's 2021 Letter is the original Behamfil, or the Coordinator impersonating her.
  • He is one of the Manor Game participants, as confirmed on Geisha's 3rd Character Day Letter.
    • According to some theorists, he might be an upcoming Survivor either on his own or equivalent to Geisha under the Identity Switch Mechanic.
  • Given Geisha's 2023 Letter, it is highly likely Miles perished during his game at the manor.
