The place became a taboo subject for residents after a nightmarish gathering.

Moonlit River Park, also referred to as Moon River Park, is a map available in Identity V. It is a replica of the Hullabaloo circus that seemed to have burned down. It is available in Quick Match, Rank Match, Duo Hunters, Chasing Shadows, and Custom Mode. There are 8 chests that spawn on this map, and 43 Pallets.

Background[]

Moonlit River Park, too, used to be a popular attraction. Organized by Count Barriere, grand walls and a roller coaster track spanning over the Moonlit River were built. The Moonlit River flowed from North to South, beneath the tracks, beneath the walls. This was what created the theme park's unique landscape - a symmetrical park, the line of symmetry being the river in the middle.

When the park first opened, this rollercoaster track brought the park endless visitors. As revenue rose, Barriere installed a funhouse and a merry-go-round and signed a contract with a traveling circus named "Hullabaloo" to attract freak show performers and circus actors. The overwhelming number of tourists spoke of it highly, and townspeople from far and wide also visited to admire it.

Moon River Park: Reconstruction vetoed. Recently, the proposal to restore Moon River Park failed to pass the city council review. The land will be auctioned again next month.

Good levels of revenue were what lead to Count Barriere's decision of holding a grand event - Moonlit River Park would be open throughout the night. After the gates closed, the isolated park could provide a temporary break from the curfew and the boring, long night. Not even high prices could stop the passionate visitors and the tickets were sold out swiftly. Laughter, fine wine, music, and the fragrance of food assaulted everyone's senses; undoubtedly, this event would be the talk of the town for the entire year. But, nobody expected that as the moon hung directly above in the night sky, an insane clown would turn what would have been a joyous celebration night into a complete nightmare. Screams and cries rang out. People tried to escape that horrific shadow drawn from the chainsaw-wielding figure, but the locked gate and the high walls blocked every possible exit. The only survivor was a young woman who leaped into the Moonlit River, escaping through the water flowing beneath the walls.

The people do not speak of Moonlit River Park. It has become the nearby townsfolk's unspeakable secret. Legend says, if those words are spoken, even softly - jarring cries and chilling screams will ring within the speaker's ears.[1]

Alternate Theories and Conclusions[]

  • Although the "only survivor" was a young woman (the Female Dancer), the Acrobat also survived the event as he was not present.
    • However, considering there was a strict curfew in place, how he was able to and why he chose to evade it is a question to ask.
  • It is possible that the Female Dancer had jumped into the river, not to escape, but due to being unable to bear the fact that either her lover Sergei had died; or that Smiley Face, the one who had cared about her all along, was the one who took away her paradise.
  • Given that Natalie/Margaretha was able to elope to Moonlit River Park, from Lakeside Village, on foot - the two maps would possibly be very close together, on a geographical scale. As Lakeside Village and Golden Cave are also closely positioned, and considering Count Barriere also holds a certain level of control over Golden Cave, all three maps are possibly very close together.

Notable Locations[]

Large 'Hullabaloo' Circus Tent[]

One of the spawn locations for survivors. An open area with seldom pallets, and a dangerous spot to kite in. One of the ciphers may be located here (one will always be located here in Duo Hunters mode), and there is a chance that the basement will spawn here.

"Thrillviol" Funhouse[]

Another spawn location for both hunters and survivors. It is a two-story building, with two curved staircases leading to the second floor balcony with a vaultable window. A locker will always be located in the middle of the building, there are two pallets, and a cipher can spawn in the center.

Carousel[]

There are two carousels; one working, and one broken. The working carousel can be interacted with and ridden, but being hit while riding a carousel will result in a terror shock. Hunters cannot ride carousels.

Slides[]

There are two slides on the map that can be interacted with - one to the right of the Thrillviol funhouse's main entrance, and one to the side of the third rollercoaster stop. A Terror Shock will be received if a survivor is hit while interacting. All characters can use slides and all hunters have unique sliding animations.

Transport[]

"Hell Ride" Roller Coaster[]

There are four roller coaster stations; 2 stations at each of the exit gates and 2 stations in between the map. These can be used to get away from hunters or chase survivors, but being hit while interacting with a roller coaster would result in a terror shock. Roller coasters are survivor spawn points in Duo Hunters.

  • Both Hunters and Survivors can ride in any of the seats of the coaster. There are 5 seats available.
  • Only the front seat controls the movement of the coaster.
  • Players can enter the rollercoaster while it is moving, but only from the stations.
  • Both Survivors and Hunters will receive a 15% movement speed debuff for 5 seconds after using a roller coaster.

Exit Gates[]

Both exit gates are by the final rollercoaster stops at opposite corners of the map.

Character Spawn Locations[]

There are 7 possible character spawn location groups on this map.

Note: The actual spawn points of Survivors will be refreshed at random within 15m of the marked positions on the map.

Area Selection[]

There are 12 possible area selections on this map.

Basement Locations[]

Like all other maps, there are two Basement locations:

  1. In Hullabaloo circus tent
  2. In the outer ring of the first floor of 'Thrillviol' Funhouse

Dungeon Locations[]

There are a few different locations the dungeon can spawn on this map.

  • Outside of the Funhouse back door
  • Outside the Circus tent, at one end of the river
  • In between the outer wall and the Circus tent, nestled between some vaultable walls.
  • Near the other end of the river, behind the vaultable walls near the working carousel.
  • Next to the center of the river, underneath second rollercoaster stop.

Survivor[]

  • Priestess takes the most advantage on this map, her support and kiting capabilities reaching their maximum limit.
    • For survivors, she is almost always the most desirable supporting character to bring on this map, and for hunters, all attempts should be made to either ban her from being used or counter her.
  • Although situational, Acrobat fares well on this map in terms of kiting ability. Locations such as the first and final stop of the rollercoaster, the Thrillviol funhouse, benches, and a select few other decorations can be leaped over with a bomb, forcing the hunter to either slow down or take a longer route to continue the chase.
  • Toy Merchant can make use of the funhouse and the many rollercoaster platforms to gain distance while gliding, even without use of her catapult.
  • Patient can also make use of the many high obstacles and leap further.
  • "Little Girl" is a good support character on a large map, as her teleporting ability has no distance limit.
  • As Moonlit River Park is a large map, Embalmer can gain a huge advantage when using his coffin.
  • Generally, when attempting to rescue a player on Moonlit River Park, begin heading towards their direction the moment they are downed. Any delay will risk (and often cause) a rescue perfectly after the rocket chair countdown reaches half, giving the hunter an easy elimination.
  • Riding the carousel can counter The Breaking Wheel. Survivors on a horse cannot be spiked.
  • The rollercoaster can be a powerful point of a kite, especially if the stops are turned off at the second and third platforms.
    • However, getting off the coaster after riding it will result in a 15% movement speed debuff for 5 seconds.
  • Snooze can help increase chair time, potentially giving your teammates more time to rescue on large maps, or at the very least negating the effect of Control Freak if the hunter has brought it.
  • Herd Behavior can help teammates be aware of the hunter's position if they change targets, especially on teams without voice chat.
  • Knee Jerk Reflex can be useful due to the various pallets and windows on the map.
  • Will to Survive can be useful when the closest rocket chair is still at a distance, especially if your teammates can harass the hunter.

Hunter[]

  • Certain hunters who are highly reliant on smaller map sizes, such as Photographer, may struggle playing on this map. However, once Photographer's Time Jump is unlocked, he will no longer be at a huge disadvantage (given that his trait is or can be switched to Teleport).
  • Hunters who can traverse long distances such as Geisha, Wu Chang, Bloody Queen, and "Nightmare" will take a slight advantage while changing targets. However, chasing and camping ability is typically unaffected.
  • Even without teleport, Night Watch can traverse long distances using his Windwalk abilities, as long as there is sufficient Windforce.
  • Evil Reptilian can directly leap onto rollercoaster platforms and into the funhouse.
  • Hunters like Hermit and Clerk can control ciphers from any distance, giving them an advantage despite not being extremely mobile.
    • Keep in mind that Hermit's Meditation can actually benefit survivors by distributing decoding progress, as they will not have to start a brand new cipher.
  • If a survivor rides the rollercoaster, they will experience a movement speed debuff for 5 seconds once the ride stops. Hunters will also experience this debuff, but still have a higher base movement speed than survivors, and their hitbox will likely cover the distance between. Use this to land a hit if you rode with them.
    • If you get to the next stop before the coaster, you can terror shock the survivor off the coaster.
      • Survivors interacting with the slide or carousel can also be terror shocked.
  • Control Freak (Dread) can be helpful, speeding up the countdown time and potentially making survivors overestimate the time they have.
  • The Control Freak (Deceit) is also useful on this map due to the height differences of some obstacles.
  • Wanted Order can help hunters who like to patrol or change targets after chairing. It can also highlight potential rescuers, allowing you to hit them early or force the survivors to send a different rescuer.
    • Be wary of survivors who use the marking from Wanted Order to be a decoy for the real rescuer.
  • Patrolling hunters may also find use out of Berserker, to increase attack recovery speed when they chase another target while someone is on chair.
  • Giant Claw can be helpful occasionally, as some chairs may be very far, especially if there are harassers present.

Map Changes[]

The following changes refer only to adjustments that affect gameplay. Cosmetic effects and other easter eggs can be found under the trivia section.

Season 8:[]

  • The middle row of seats in the circus tent was extended to the inner tent wall.
  • The low-walled area with 2 pallets next to the circus tent was changed to be the high walls with 1 pallet and 1 window that is in-game now.

Season 23:[]

  • Gaps were added in the railings of the first and fourth rollercoaster stops to prevent extreme looping.
  • The low walls with 1 pallet near to each exit gate were added to give the survivor a chance to contain the hunter longer if the hunter teleports to the exit gate.
  • Another wall with a window was added near the broken carousel to help the survivors' transition.
  • A low-walled area with a pallet was added in front of the 2-story tent by the slide for better looping and transition.
  • A small kiting area with a pallet was added by the double slide close to the first stop for better looping.

Trivia[]

  • Two big balloons resembling Smiley Face's face are attached to the Hullabaloo Circus tent on this map.
  • When passing the caged lion next to the circus tent, Female Dancer is the only character who can elicit a non-hostile response from the lion.
  • If Naiad rides in the front seat of the rollercoaster, survivors sitting in the following seats will accumulate moisture. If their humidity level reaches 100, they will be knocked off the rollercoaster regardless of if it is still moving.
  • This is one of the largest maps in the game, and is used as is for both normal matches and Duo Hunter matches which have more players.
  • When injured, the lighting for survivors will darken, and their surroundings will appear more worn down. The darkness can be turned off under Game Settings.
    • Moonlit River Park is the only map to feature such drastic levels of change in brightness.
  • In a 2018 web event, Moonlit River Park was supposedly "overly littered due to too many visitors", and players were asked to help sort out recycling.
  • Easter eggs found after the version 2.0 update:
    • A circus poster near the rocket chair by the fourth stop
    • Matching Hullabaloo posters on the sides of the entrance of the circus tent
    • A poster showing Gamekeeper which says "PATROL" in the 2-story building
    • A newspaper clipping about Moonlit River Park in the high-walled area behind the 2-story building
