Neon Vanguard is a Reoccurring Time-Limited A-Tier Costume for the Forward, William Ellis. It was introduced as part of the Call of the Abyss V Abyss Treasure (Season 19 Essence 2).
Availability[]
As it is not a true Limited Costume[1] (which are denoted by the "limited" tag found in the top right of certain card icons), it has returned in the Call of the Abyss V Abyss Treasure, along with the other costumes, several times.
- It was originally available from December 30th, 2021 to February 17th, 2022 during Call of the Abyss V Qualification (Season 19 Essence 2).
- It returned on January 5th, 2023 to February 2nd, 2023 during Call of the Abyss VI Qualification (Season 24).
- It returned on January 1st, 2024 to January 24th, 2024 during the Call of the Abyss VII Event (Season 30).

Physical[]
William's hair is now swiped back instead of pulled up and a light blonde color, as well as his brows and sideburns. He doesn't have a beard in this costume. As with other costumes in this essence, his forearms and calves are mechanical rather than human. His forearms are made of glowing yellow bars and his calves of metal with his feet essentially being roller skates. Compared to the default, this costume brings quite a few changes to his model. His face is slightly remodeled with his nose being more narrow and his legs and hips are thicker.
Outfit[]
William is wearing a short sleeved, brown leather, double breasted jacket with the collar popped and cream colored fur on the inside. He's also wearing pants of the same cream color that reach to his knees. The most eye-catching part of the costume are the blue and yellow neon lights on his chest and back, forming a fist and the words "BE STRONG" on the front and a dumbbell on the back. They are placed over red arrow shaped material and they wrap around a fist symbol on his sleeve. He is also wearing a pair of black gloves, and black goggles hiding his eyes, with a glowing red X on his left eye.
Object[]
The rugby ball is similar to his forearms, made of metal and glowing yellow neon lights.
Special Effects[]
The neon lights flicker and the purple tentacles on his chest glow as they do in other costumes of the essence.

Design Idea Plans[]
In addition to inheriting the vitality of the Forward, "Neon Vanguard" also adds a rebellious and confident temperament. He couldn't bear the absurd life of sensuality and horse racing. He wanted to use fitness slogans to alert others to pay attention to physical changes, but no one responded.
We designed an exaggerated and eye-catching neon sign as a slogan for him to directly express his bravery and rebellion, making it the most distinctive banner in the media war.
Design Idea Sketches[]
The main design points of the Forward were mechanical modifications and neon lights. The first design was built around these two elements. The overall clothing of the Forward is similar to the leather jacket and overalls of early pilots, which fits the setting of the striker running at high speed and generating electricity through the movement of the device on his legs. It is transmitted to light tubes all over his body, and there is a meter showing the power on his chest. However, according to the later discussion, the neon elements are not very obvious on his body, and the Neon Vanguard theme couldn't be expressed. So modifications and adjustments were made.
In the second version design, neon elements were added to his body, including some English slogans that commonly appear in the gym. His arms were also been modified, and plugs and sockets have been added to many parts of his body, reinforcing the theme of human body modification. The original mask design was a little dull, but in this version, it was changed to goggles to allow the character to show more of his face, and to match the expression, it better reflects the Forward's chic personality. The final design is now complete.
