Nightingale's Singing, previously referred to as Lantern Deals, is a random event that players can trigger by walking around in their lobbies. Their permanence is limited, often available for either 15, 30 or 60 minutes before disappearing. They can be purchased with either Echoes, Inspirations, Clues or Fragments. The contents of each Lantern Deal are random, and Nightingale's Singing deals are typically specialized for certain characters or categories.
Possibilities of Triggering[]
Nightingale's Singing deals have a random chance to be triggered each day after some time has passed since logging in. The Deal may not trigger immediately, and instead could take a few minutes to be displayed to the player. The mechanics behind the Deals' chance rates, types and potential presence or lack of influencing factors have not been stated by Identity V's development team, and their specific details are currently uncertain. For a list of unconfirmed speculations regarding their nature, please check below.
Some rules about their behavior are however known. Ownership of the character or Room included in the Deal is irrelevant to the chance of triggering them, and it is possible to obtain Nightingale's Singing Deals containing already purchased Lobbies or costumes for a character that isn't owned by the player. As for Deals that include cosmetics, if all primary rewards in the Deal contents table are already owned, that specific Deal will not trigger any longer, even if some of the secondary rewards aren't.
The possibility of triggering a Nightingale's Singing deal, and in particular the possibility to trigger character-specific Deals, will greatly increase during:
- Thanksgiving (Essence Nightingale's Singing will be more frequent, for cheaper prices)
- Spring Festival (Nightingale's Singing will last for shorter time periods, but will contain rarer rewards for cheaper prices)
Once a Deal has been triggered, a message will appear on screen stating that singing can be coming from the lobby. The player can choose to click on "View", which will make the Deal immediately appear, or on "Later", which will get rid of the pop up and only make the Deal appear after the player has moved their character around. It will not appear until the player character moves regardless of how much time passes from the on-screen warning. Once it does, a timer for the Deal's permanence in the Illusion Hall will be set off, varying in length.
Contents[]
A Nightingale's Singing deal's contents
The contents of a Deal vary depending on the type. While it is possible to obtain Nightingale's Singing about already owned Rooms, this isn't the case for costumes and accessories. Once a cosmetic item is obtained, whether through Essences, Illusion Hall or Deals themselves, it is removed from the table of contents of Nightingale's Singing. This is done to prevent the player from obtaining duplicates, but it also means that once the main rewards of a specific Deal are exhausted it won't trigger anymore, potentially locking the player out of exclusive bonuses.
Some Nightingale's Singing include a list of shop costumes for several characters together, and are divided into a B-Tier section and an A-Tier section, which include costumes of said rarities. These deals can include costumes available only in the Chinese Server's shop, such as Green Peacock and Barber. If some of the costumes are already owned, they won't be included in these Deals. Deals about specific A and S-Tier costumes also won't trigger if the item is already owned.
Nightingale's Singing about a specific character include a "primary" and a "bonus" rewards section: the primary rewards generally include Costumes and Accessories, while the bonus section includes Graffiti and Emotes, including limited ones such as certain characters' Lie Down and Provoke. Obtaining all primary rewards will make the remaining bonus rewards unobtainable, so players are advised to be mindful if they intend to obtain limited items for a character, as buying certain shop cosmetics included in the rewards table will reduce their chances of buying Deals for said character, potentially locking them out of limited rewards altogether.

Speculation Regarding Drop Rates[]
Joker Studio hasn't released information regarding the Nightingale's Singing Deals mechanics, especially regarding their chances of being obtained and the type being made available to players. Below is a list of unconfirmed factors that may potentially influence these characteristics:
- The chance of obtaining a Deal related to a specific character's cosmetics may be influenced by the player's recent usage of that specific character. Anecdotal evidence provided by players seem to suggest that after using a specific character for a notable amount of time, Deals containing cosmetic items related to them were given with higher frequence. Whether this actually has any effect or not is currently unclear.
- The chance of obtaining Deals may also be increased by the player's amount of currencies. Several players state that they received rarer Deals, such as those containing character-specific cosmetics, more frequently when their Inspirations and/or Echoes supply was low. As with the above, whether this actually influences the mechanic or not it unclear.
Lantern Deals[]
|
|
Before the 2.0 Update, on April 20th, 2023, Nightingale's Singing deals were referred to as Lantern Deals, or alternatively, Flickering Lights and Shadows in Fire. These functioned identically to their current iteration, both in prices as well as contents and rewards, and presented only aesthetic differences in their interfaces and animations.
Once a Lantern Deal was triggered, a message would appear on screen stating that something's off in the lobby. At that point, the player had to move their character around the Lobby to cause the Lantern Deal to appear. It would not appear until the player character moved regardless of how much time passed from the on-screen warning.
When a Lantern Deal appeared in the Default Lobby, or in a Custom Lobby while a Detective costume was equipped, the camera would zoom into Orpheus' lantern and subsequently displayed the deal's contents. The zoom-in animation would be skipped if another character was equipped, instead.
Updates[]
- New Lantern Deals were introduced in Global Servers during the Spring Festival update of 2021. Addition of 15-minute Lantern Deals.
- Green Peacock and Koi introduced to Global Servers for the first time in Lantern Deals after maintenance on March 11th, 2021. New Packages - [A Costume Random Box] (all sizes), [A Accessory Random Box] (all sizes) [[Faction]'s Random Box] and [A Music Random Box] (all sizes) released.
- Addition of Lantern Deals purchasable with Fragments. All S-Tier Illusion Hall Costumes and a selection of A-Tier Illusion Hall Costumes implemented into Lantern Deals,
Trivia[]
- Icons specifically made for use in Nightingale's Singing interfaces are present in the game files depicting Hell Ember, Smiley Face, The Ripper and Soul Weaver without their masks, suggesting Nightingale's Singing were planned at least since Late Beta, when these characters lacked said details.
