Backstory[]
Character Introduction[]
The foul-smelling fluids, the whispers of a medium—who indeed is puppeteering Sangria's fate? A father's abuse, a lady's salvation, shadows lurk beneath the light, and the woman marked with the goat's symbol—did she illuminate her life or nourish the shadows that haunted her? "There is no rebirth without pain." In the still of the night, the bleating kid's throat was slit, the sacred candlelight lighting up the lady's icy visage. After the ritual to summon a "god" concluded, everything hit at once. The performance became a swan song, the theatre a ruin, not a soul among the audience left alive. Only in the dressing room hung a pristine cloak, and within it, the ghostly shadow of a goat.[5]
Weibo Post[]
It seemed Sangria’s fate had already been set the moment her mother drank the contents of that stench-filled bowl[TN 1]. Onstage she was a tool, the theatre’s means of making money; offstage, she was beaten by her father, considered to be less than a toy, his means of entertainment below his belt[TN 2]. Beneath the spotlight, she was always a dull gray; until she met that stroke of red. When the woman with a ram symbol painted between her brows gently knocked on the dressing room, all would be rewritten.
Once again, she violated the rule prohibiting actors from becoming too close to members of the audience, and her father had her thrown back into the small closet from her childhood. “Pain is the path to rebirth.” She repeated what that lady had told her, over and over again, and laid herself down for all of eternity beneath that bloodstained closet door.
That silent night, a lamb’s throat was slit, the sacred candlelight illuminating the lady’s cold features. Once the “God” was summoned through ritual, all would take effect. Each encore from the clapping hands of the audience lit her heart ablaze; her performance was her swan song, the theatre becoming ruins. There were no signs of life afterward. Except, for that spotless cape hanging in the dressing room, and the ghostly shadow of a mountain ram.[6]

Character Trailer[]
Trailer Transcript[]
There is no rebirth without pain
The whispers by my ear, the scars from the pain
I was once lost in superficial applause
before I crossed paths with that touch of red
When the throat is slit
everything I wished for comes true
A mark forever sealed between my eyebrows
On the night the jailbird lost its voice
we chose to go our separate ways
Yet I returned once more
Cheers ignited a glow in my eyes
Ashes were once flames

Main cast:
Sangria as Sangria (soprano)
Paul as Police Officer (bass)
Scene—Siena Tavern—Late at night
...
Upon learning of her father's passing, Sangria rushed to the Siena Tavern in a state of distress. Her expression was a mix of shock, sorrow, and near-fainting. Officer Paul attempted to calm her, and once she regained her composure, he initiated a brief investigative interview.
Officer Paul
"What was your impression of the deceased?"
Sangria
"I grew up in the theater. He was a... competent father, and a respected theater director. You might have heard that he was tough on me when I was younger, but honestly, I wouldn't be where I am today without him. It's sad that he left us like this."
Officer Paul
"There are witnesses who claim that you and the deceased had multiple heated arguments. Is that true?"
Sangria
"Those arguments happened a long time ago, likely because of my poor acting or singing. But once I improved and started making good money, he stopped hitting me."
Officer Paul
"Then... where were you when the incident occurred?"
Sangria
"I was performing in the theater in front of a full house. The entire audience can vouch for me. However, I won't be performing anytime soon—his death hit me hard. The sudden grievous news and the nights of crying have made it difficult for me to hit the high notes. More importantly... I'm not in the mood to perform."
Officer Paul
"What are your plans now? With the theater and a substantial sum of money, you are the sole heir."
Sangria
"I will run the theater to honor my dad's final request. As soon as my voice heals, I'll resume singing and aim to reach a broader audience. But since I've never managed a theater before, I'm looking for a partner. As for the money, I plan to use it to help girls who are homeless or have had tough childhoods. A person's upbringing can have a huge impact on their life."
Police officer Paul
"You mentioned a partner for the theater. Do you have someone in mind?"
Sangria
"Yes, she's a huge opera fan with brilliant management skills. She's a good friend I met during my performances—Mrs. Nicholas."
A Stack of Letters with Burned Edges (2025)[]
Dear Madam Nicholas,
In three days, I will finally stand alone before an audience. The program is set, though the piece is bound to memories I would rather leave untouched. Still, it will serve as my pledge to take part in your ceremony. Since that unhappy day, my voice has not fully returned, so I must let these words carry what song once did.
"The flames are rising, the crowd is shouting; they surge toward the pyre, hungry for the terrible thrill!"
After that day, I took over his place at the theatre. Without my voice, I busied myself greeting the patrons — those elegant, empty shells who applauded style but never substance. They parade themselves in finery, yet know nothing of art's soul. Often I wondered—did leaving you spare me from pain, or only leave me more exposed to it?
"A roar of laughter, cries cutting the air; the executioner leads her to the stake!"
The "punishment" you gave me was a mystery for some time. I thought losing my voice had ended my life's only calling. Yet whenever I held the cloak you gave me—smooth as silk, perfect for disappearing into the dark—I began to realize: the one who led me here was never you, who lifted me to the stage, but the shadow looming from my youth, and the crowd that cared only for beauty's surface while ignoring its truth.
"The flames leap high—O God!—and through the smoke, the villain's face appears, fierce and terrible!"
Like a caged canary, I could no longer bear the pretense. What changed everything was the arrival of a rare visitor—a man of deep learning, who understood both the old masters and living tradition. He told me he was gathering artists across Europe for a performance unlike anything before. In him, I recognized a true kindred spirit. I told him of the ceremony, my voice, and of you. After a thoughtful pause, he urged me to return to you, to my true family.
"The flames burn on, the victim's hatred unquenched; her clothes ignite, her bare feet burn!"
A few months later came his invitation: a grander stage, a company where every art could shine — opera, violin, even the street songs of the people. The thought rekindled the first embers of my love for the stage. There was only one condition: I must sing again.
"She cries aloud, speaking to Death itself; her voice echoes out, reaching everywhere!"
Madam, I cannot fully express how I regret my reckless past. You saved me once from the ashes; and now, you are my only lifeline. I want to return to the stage. I want my voice back. I am ready to stand again in your great ceremony to give all I have: this theatre, this body, this life itself, to the service of art.
"The flames mount higher, and through them—look—the villain's face, fierce, and terrible!"
These lines come from Il trovatore's most haunting aria. I hope they bring you some measure of pleasure.

Character Introduction[]
Opera Singer's character introduction on the Identity V Official Website was reworded at some point before August 12th 2025. The following is the previous wording.
| Fishy liquid, whispers of the psychic, who is really manipulating Sangria's fate. The abuse of her father, the salvation of the lady, the shadows coming from the light, the woman with the goat symbol painted between eyebrows is lighting up Sangria's life or enhancing the shadows behind her. "Pain is the path to rebirth." In the quiet night, the lamb's throat was cut, and the sacred candlelight illuminated the chilled face of the Lady. After the ritual of invoking the "gods", something began to change. The performance became extinct, the theater became ruined, and none of the audience came out alive. The only thing left is an intact cloak hanging in the dressing room with the shadow of goat like a ghost. |

Compiled Overview[]
Backstory[]
Sangria was born as the daughter of a theater director in Siena. Her mother, suffering from some unspecified conditions, was advised by a mystic to drink some strange "medicine" which most likely caused her death. Growing up she was regularly physically and mentally abused by her father, a violent alcoholic. She was whipped, and imprisoned in a closet for prolonged periods of time on a regular basis, causing her great trauma. He also used her as a way of making money by forcing her to perform from a young age, also possibly taking the place of her mother.
Later in life, she met a Lady in Red during one of her performances. That Madame introduced herself as Nicholas Orsonville and became Sangria's confidant, comforting her and gaining her trust. That same day, Mrs. Nicholas also painted a ram symbol on Sangria's forehead promising her a better fate. Not long later, Sangria's father was reported to be found dead in one of the taverns. According to witnesses and local sources, her father is implied to suffer from a state of alcoholism. However, it is unclear if a third party was involved as his exact cause of death remains under investigation.
Following the news of her father’s death, Sangria arrived at the tavern in a state of distress before Witnesses described her demeanor as a combination of shock, sorrow and near fainting. Shortly after this, a police officer named Paul made an attempted effort to calm Sangria down and once she regained her composure he proceeded to initiate an investigative interview with her. At that moment, Sangria told Officer Paul her life story and her alibi including how competent her father was. Additionally, she plans to run the theater to honor her father's final request and look for a partner such as Mrs. Nicholas.[8]
Due to that event Sangria wanted to stop performing, causing an argument between her and Nicholas. The night of the argument was also described as "a night when she lost her voice", a mysterious "punishment" Sangria received from Nicholas that suggests a curse. After some time Sangria changed her mind. She begged Nicholas to return on stage, possibly also requesting for her voice to be back. Her return comes to fruition during her grand performance, where she disappears into the flames.
A few months later after surviving the Opera House incident, Sangria was visited by an unknown host with deep knowledge who's seeking out to gather artists all across Europe for a performance unlike anything before where they can shine their act on a grander stage. After processing this offer, she accepted the invitation to reunite with Nicholas at a designated ceremony.[9]
Events at the Manor[]
Not much is currently known about Sangria's time at the Manor, but she took a role in the Manor Game as a third performer alongside with a “staff member”, The Will Brothers, Antonio, and the last male participant.
Sangria anxiously felt the drugged effects from her wine at first, but remained polite to Andrew and Marcus Thorne. Despite her superior communication and expressive abilities, they couldn’t form meaningful connections. Sangria had Andrew’s assistance to utilize his familiarity with the manor's layout and orchestrated an arson under the stage.
Unfortunately, this was Sangria’s final performance when the flames did not concluded the results she ever dreamed of. Instead, it engulfed Sangria, causing her to shriek in horror and helplessness as the fire drowned out her terrified screams that made her actually disappear into the flames with no escape this time. She was eventually buried by Andrew Kreiss.
Alternate Theories and Conclusions[]
- The exact fate of the Sangria's mother is unknown, as she is unmentioned beside drinking that strange "medicine". Because of this, it is most likely safe to presume that she died.

Manor Game Table References[]
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 1.2 This Manor Game was cancelled due to all Test Subjects failing to reach the Final Stage before their disqualifications and eliminations, as revealed in Violinist's 2023 Letter. The Manor later began experimenting on the third Group 3.
- ↑ 2.0 2.1 2.2 See Grave Keeper's 2024 Letter.
- ↑ 3.0 3.1 3.2 3.3 It is revealed in Grave Keeper's Character Relations Web that Andrew buried Antonio, The Will Brothers and Sangria. However, it is worth noting that Andrew is one of the Manor's "staff", more specifically, a uniquely tasked participant, as revealed in Violinist's 2023 Letter and Grave Keeper's 2025 Letter, and he also carried Antonio away for burial when Antonio lost control during the First Stage of the experiment. Moreover, it is confirmed that the deaths of the buried participants were actually caused by the Manor using drugged consumables in order to make the participants lose their composure, and the burials were a part of Andrew's given objectives.
- ↑ 4.0 4.1 Even though it is not confirmed yet, it seems like Andrew's elimination was caused by Marcus Thorne.
- ↑ 5.0 5.1 See The Breaking Wheel's 2023 Letter, which mentions the interaction between the Will Brothers and Andrew in the Manor, as well as the intriguing and exciting feeling of one of the three siblings as he couldn't wait to meet other participants who would arrive the day later. Additionally, Andrew was the first one to arrive in his Group. From the aforementioned details, we can firmly deduce the serial number of the siblings, as well as that of Sangria due to the final participant has been confirmed in The Breaking Wheel's 2024 Letter to be a male individual.
- ↑ The Will Brothers are confirmed to have participated in the same Group 3 with Andrew Kreiss. See The Breaking Wheel's 2023 Letter for further details.
- ↑ 7.0 7.1 7.2 7.3 Similarly to the first Group 3's Manor Game, this Group had no designated hunter nor executioner, thus essentially making every participant capable of having hallucinations of viewing others' appearances as threatening individuals.
- ↑ See Grave Keeper's 2025 Letter.
- ↑ See Violinist's 2023 Letter.
- ↑ See Violinist's 2023 Letter and Grave Keeper's 2024 Letter.
- ↑ Opera Singer is confirmed to have participated in the same Group 3 with Andrew Kreiss. See her Relations Menu page for further details.
- ↑ Referenced in The Breaking Wheel's 2025 Letter as "the fellow with a billiard cue".
