Pallets are blue wooden boards that can be found around the map, often between walls or obstacles.

Overview[]

Pallets are intractable obstacles for Survivors and Hunters that can be found in every Map.

At the beginning of the match, all of the Pallets are in an upright position, meaning that both Survivors and Hunters can pass through them. Hunters cannot interact with Pallets (with the exception of Clerk's Record) during the upright state whereas, Survivors can interact with them by dropping the Pallet.

Dropped Pallets serves as an obstacle for both the Hunter and Survivors similar to Windows. Hunters maybe forced to break the Pallet to permanently remove them for the rest of the match, or they can take another path to the Survivor, and Survivors maybe have to vault and risk Terror Shock if they receive any damage from the Hunter's knife/charged attack, or forced to accept taking the damage from the Hunter before vaulting.

Survivors can choose to drop pallets when the hunter is within the Pallet's dropping range. If the Hunter is caught by the pallet drop, they will be knocked back and gets stunned for a variable duration, and obstructing their in-game camera during that state. Hunters who got stunned by a pallet while carrying a Survivor is considered as a rescue as the carried survivor will be freed from the Hunters' grasp.

Gameplay[]

Survivors:[]

Pallets can only be dropped and broken once. Survivors have three ways of vaulting:

  • Quick Vault: This type of vault is faster and can be achieved by running towards a pallet and vaulting. The survivor will appear to be rolling across the pallet. This action alerts the hunter but has the lowest risk of getting a Terror Shock and is the best action for containing the Hunter.
  • Slow Vault: This type of vault is slower and can be achieved by walking/losing momentum/stopping before vaulting. The Survivor will walk across the pallet and will not alert the Hunter but has a greater risk of Terror Shock.
  • Crawl Vault: This type of vault is the slowest and can be achieved by crouching next to the pallet and then vaulting. The Survivor will slowly crawl across the pallet with their arms outstretched without alerting the hunter but has a highest chance of risking a Terror Shock when chased by a hunter.

Survivors have their own unique vaulting and dropping pallet speed depending on their strength. Survivors with athlete traits such as Forward, Batter, and Cowboy can drop and vault over pallets faster. Survivors who lack of athlete traits such as The Minds Eye and the Mechanic drops and vaults pallets slower. Survivors with slower pallet dropping speed allows the hunter easily hit a survivor through a pallet but it won't result a Terror Shock.

Hunters:[]

Hunters (excluding Night Watch) cannot vault over Pallets, but they can choose to break the pallet thus permanently destroying it. Breaking a Pallet displays a short animation in which the Hunter will destroy it which allows the survivors to create a distance from them. This will momentarily obstruct their vision as the camera will tilt, shake or snap downwards until the Pallet is destroyed, giving the Survivor an opportunity to hide out of sight.

The pallet breaking speed varies for different hunters but this can be influenced by the Persona Talent, Destructiveness.

Smiley Face, Evil Reptilian, The Breaking Wheel, "Undead", and "Nightmare" are the only Hunters with an alternative way of breaking the Pallet: Smiley Face by charging at it with his Rocket Dash, Evil Reptilian with his Lethal Crash, The Breaking Wheel by running through it in their Execution Wheel form, "Undead" by attacking a pallet during his Energy Surge, and "Nightmare" by getting stunned by a pallet during his Diving twice.

Wax Artist and Clerk are the only Hunters with the ability of blocking pallets, preventing Survivors from vaulting it. Wax Artist can block pallets with his Wax (Excluding Molten Wax) for 12 seconds, and Clerk can make the pallets Invalid form interaction for 9 seconds.

Night Watch is the only Hunter with the ability to vault over dropped pallets during his Windwalk effect.

If the Hunter is beside the pallet but the survivors drops it, the hunter will get stunned which allows the survivors to create distance from them. It will also obstruct the hunter's vision as the camera will tilt, shake or locked depending on the hunter. If the hunter carries or balloons a survivor beside a pallet but the survivor drops the pallet, the carried survivor will be rescued and the hunter will get a unique animation when stunned.

The pallet stun duration varies for different hunters but can be influenced by the persona talent, Rage, Desperate Fight, and Addiction. Alternatively, it can be instant removed by using the trait, Excitement.
