—Matthias Czernin (Deduction Quest No. 9) |
Appearance[]
Puppeteer[]
Matthias is a tall, slender doll with a slightly stooped figure and sickly, pale skin. The left side of his body is horribly damaged as compared to his right. His dark brown locks are styled into neat waves on the right, straggly and frayed on the left, and combed down in neat spikes to reach his neck on the back. What is left of his face is screwed into a tortured, worried expression, and his remaining brow on the right is furrowed. His right eye is a brown button, cross-stitched with white thread and half-covered by a droopy grey eyelid, while his left is nothing more than an empty cross-stitch of the same color. His mouth is pulled back by two rows of stitching on his upper and lower lip, and large, hollow tears are visible on the left side of his face and neck.
He wears a faded, dark grey tunic with long, billowing sleeves that are tapered to fit his wrists at the ends, with the left sleeve so tattered that it is held up with haphazard stitches and pins with round yellow heads. A loose, messily tied black tie is around the high collar of the tunic, and over this he wears a sleeveless black vest with silver details and buttons down both sides. He wears a leather belt with a rolled-up pouch attached around his waist, and he also wears skinny, dark grey trousers. Tall boots of black leather with metal heels are on his feet, with the left one heavily tattered and held up in a similar fashion to that of his sleeve. The index and middle fingers on his left hand are encased in braces of dark metal, and on his right is a black leather glove. Tears are visible in his left shoulder and wrist, showing cotton stuffing. He holds an old, wooden marionette cross brace in his right hand.
Puppet[]
"Louis" is a humanoid marionette, similar in size to a young human boy, a head shorter than his human form. He appears to be made out of wood and metal, and eerily resembles Matthias. His skin is painted the same sickly color, and his limbs have visible, neatly segmented joints of metal to aid his individual movements. His dark brown locks are styled into a neat wave parted into two even sides, and his thin eyebrows appear to be trimmed primly. His eyeholes each contain one large, glassy brown eye, with mechanical eyelids that can open and shut. His mouth is carved into a wide grin, showing off glossy, painted rows of white teeth.
He wears a tunic of white silk with intricately-embroidered, short sleeves that cover only his upper forearms, and shorts of yellow silk with similar, geometrical embroidery patterned on the waist in a different color. A red ribbon tied into a bow is around the collar of his tunic, and over this he wears a sleeveless black vest with red details and buttons down both sides. He wears white ankle socks, and on his feet are laced-up Rochelles of polished black leather.
Gameplay[]
The Puppeteer is a Contain/Rescue-type Survivor who specializes in tanking hits to prolong his containing duration excessively as well as rescue without the risk of suffering Terror Shock with his ability "Louis", but which increases his damage by 25%. "Louis" lasts for 8 seconds, during which state he can neutralize fear equal to that of a normal attack, after which if hit or the time ends, "Louis" reverts back into his original form. For every hit he takes, his movement speed will also increase slightly for 8 seconds. In relation to his great damage-sustaining abilities, he has a severe healing debuff, being unable to receive healing from teammates with exceptions to Empathize and Dovlin. The time taken to heal teammates is also prolonged, and each heal makes teammates take more and more time to heal once again. However, every teammate healed reduces his and other teammates' damage by 25%, and "Louis" can also heal minor injuries, though the healing time required is equal to that of a regular injury.

Parents robbed, lives replaced, lives ruined... Behind all of this is a puppet. The resurrected "Louis" has become a permanent shadow. Will the manor crest that finally appears in the wooden box give him the answer he wants?
The puppet "Twins" are constantly entangled
"Louis" needs to experience every performance, and an exquisite costume is particularly important. A white short-sleeved shirt, a trimmed black vest, a neat bright red bow tie, and a carefully styled hairstyle all better reflect the young man's mental outlook. This puppet, created based on the puppeteer's childhood, expresses its confidence and assertiveness with its smile.
Matthias himself was just the opposite. He was dressed in black and looked unremarkable. His messy hair was ignored. The left side of his body, which was seriously injured due to the collapse of the stage, still bears traces of disability. If he were not holding a puppet, there would be no clue from his empty expression that he was a puppeteer in charge.
The ropes and background that spread from the front to the back all show the puppeteer's manipulated life. Matthias and "Louis" are both shrouded in shadows and trapped in the mud. No one can escape the shackles of fate.
Accompanied by puppets, fear is always present
Things have changed, but "Louis" remains the same!

Trivia[]
- He is possibly based on Matěj Kopecký, a famous Czech puppeteer. His last name may be referencing the Czernin family, one of the oldest noble families in Czechia.
- Puppeteer shares his title with a pre-existing costume for Mechanic.
