For sleepwear her hair is loose and she wear a yellow dress with white ruffles around the collar and sleeves.

As an adult her hair is kept in a half-up style, being partially tied back with a green ribbon. She wears a long deep green dress with off-the-shoulder ruffles and full-length sleeves. While injured she instead wears a simple white outfit with elbow-length puffed sleeves.

Compiled Overview[]

Richard and his sister were born as twins to the Sterling family, an aristocratic couple who were known for their involvement in underground activity. As children, they were always together and would often play a game involving them acting as a Princess and a Knight along with singing a matching nursery rhyme.[1] At age four, the twins disappeared, with the daughter being quickly recovered from a previous business partner that the family had cut ties with while her brother remained missing for three more years. When he was returned, she seemingly recognised him through the recitation of their nursery rhyme and accepted him back, however while his personality appeared similar at first, she felt somewhat scared of him.[2]

Over time, she became increasingly unsettled by her brother, bearing witness to him causing conflict among others and spreading lies under the guise of a sweet and modest demeanor. She was the sole witness to this and the only one suspicious of his faked identity, yet she kept it a secret due to his insistance that he loved her more than anyone and that such actions were a necessary evil. As she became an adult, she developed a strong desire to escape from the brother that she now saw as a monster, and decided that marriage would be a suitable way to leave home despite the potential risks.[3] Upon hearing of this one sunny afternoon, her brother pushed her down the stairs, resulting in bruising that required a week of bed rest and slightly delaying her wedding.[4] She was able to recover from this incident and make her way to The Red Church for her wedding ceremony, after which she disappeared without a trace.

Alternate Theories and Conclusions[]

  • Richard's Sister is stated to have been attending her wedding at The Red Church and in "Knight"'s design notes it is said that his lore is designed to help supplement the backstory of the aforementioned map. This implies that the "unfinished ceremony" of an aristocratic girl during 1889 mentioned in the map's background story[5] may have been hers and that the event resulting in her disappearance occurred before the vows were completed.
    • A plaque in The Red Church features an inscription mentioning the wedding of Emily and Barkis.[6] This could imply that Emily is the real name of Richard's Sister, however this easter egg is also a reference to the movie Corpse Bride and may be completely unrelated.

Trivia[]

  • "Knight"'s Chinese backstory uses the terms "姐姐" (Elder Sister) and "弟弟" (Younger Brother) to describe the twins. This may imply that Richard's sister was born first, making her slightly older.
