Rocket Modification is an external trait belonging to the hunter Smiley Face, Joker. As with other traits, it's a unique characteristic of the hunter in question, and as such doesn't require Presence to be unlocked, and remains active indefinitely throughout the match.
Official Details[]
Description[]
Smiley Face can collect parts scattered around the map to modify his weapon. The modification can be used for an attack or a Rocket Dash.
Wind Wings
Increases Attack Speed by 27% and Rocket Dash speed by 20%.
Drill
Survivors take 100% longer to heal when hit by normal attacks or abilities.
Propeller
Increases the effect of Rocket Dash once, but the weight is also increased, thus slightly reducing its speed.
Gameplay[]
At the start of every match, the fragments of the rocket can be found scattered across the map. The Smiley Face can see the rocket fragments within 24 meters from him even behind obstacles. Joker can pick up these fragments up by walking over them, and a tally of which ones have been collected will be kept on the GUI. These picked up components can then be modified to Smiley Face's weapon, adding certain effects to enhance his weapon. Multiple parts can be added onto the rocket at the same time, but each item will increase the time it takes to finish installing the components. The Smiley Face cannot cancel the animation and is forced to wait until he finishes adding the modifications into his rocket. Equipped modifications cannot be removed from the Rocket once they are installed.
The "Wind Wings" increases Smiley Face's movement speed during the Rocket Dash faster as well as increasing his knife/charged attack speed. This effect will end if Joker attacks or ends his Rocket Dash. They are commonly found near Cipher Machines.
The "Propeller" allows Smiley Face to perform his Rocket Dash indefinitely until he hits a survivor, gets stunned or collides with obstacles. They are commonly found near Cipher Machines.
The "Drill" allows the Smiley Face to increase the duration taken to heal the affected survivor damaged by the Drill. The Drill will be consumed if Joker performs a knife/charged attack, or finishes his Rocket Dash. They are commonly found near cipher machines or rocket chairs.
Other Details[]
- It takes Smiley Face, 2/3/4 seconds in total to install 1/2/3 parts.
- If the Smiley Face gets interrupted during his equipping animation, all the parts used will be wasted.
Smiley Face's Tips
- You may need to constantly hoarding rocket parts for the Rocket Dash. Prioritise collecting the Propellers as they are rarer to find.
- The Rocket parts tend to spawn in the groups of three, typically near the cipher machines or rocket chairs.
- The Propeller modification is Smiley's most important part, and the part you should be keeping an eye on. It allows you to quickly traverse the map infinitely, as long as you don't bump into obstacles. Use the propeller to catch distant survivors or to quickly patrol cipher machines.
- Attaching a modification on the rocket takes a second, and you will not be able to interrupt the animation. The best times to attach a modification is when you down a survivor, you need it to chase the survivor, or after you chair a survivor.
- His Presence I ability, Rocket Dash can be activated earlier by equipping the Propeller.
- Some playstyles greatly emphasize the use of the "Drill" part, which can keep Survivors who have a slow healing debuff (Mercenary, Perfumer) on the ground/injured for long periods of time and to stall the game longer.
Survivors' Tips:
- Minimise kiting to areas near the Cipher Machines if possible as these areas contain a lot of parts and resources that can benefit Smiley Face for later.
- Use your Control Effect Abilities to interrupt Smiley Face during his Rocket Dash to waste his equipped parts.
- If you see these parts, you are guaranteed to encounter Smiley Face. Use this information to avoid decoding at open areas, and move to the safer area.

Trivia[]
- It is possible to spawn right on top of a rocket part when starting a match.
- A-Tier and S-Tier costumes will change the appearance of the Rocket, as well as its scattered parts around the map
- At the beginning of a match, Smiley Face cannot use his Dash ability until he reaches the first marker of presence OR after equipping a Propeller to his weapon. Because of this, finding a Propeller at the beginning of a match is important to catching survivors and acquire presence.
- The time to equip the rocket modifications has been reduced by 33% as of February 17th, 2022.
