In some cases, an overarching storyline has been pieced together based off connections made by the community.
Essence storylines in general, theorized or official, are not related to the Main Story of Identity V.
Season 37 Essence 1[]
This essence is themed after the Greek Underworld.

The pitch-black carriage rolls toward the mansion
a place warm and familiar—a place I call "home."
Beneath the dome adorned with pomegranate seeds
all is strange
all is twisted
Ms. Saucer and Mr. Coat Rack
are longtime companions
A whirling chaos hides a secret
"Stop!"
The illusions crumble the faint horizon is no paradise
"This lingering dream feels like nothing more than a wistful sigh."
Essence Backstory[]
The carriage takes Miss Pomegranate Plate to a marvelous old mansion— the sweet and tranquil "home" made just for her.
The mansion's master and servants eagerly surround the returning girl, everything here is exciting and otherworldly:
Ms. Saucer brings the girl many delightful treats. With a drowsy smile on her face, before she even has to chance to wipe the sparkling sprinkles from her face, she invites the little master to enjoy and drink with her. The little helper Piping Bag Boy wipes away his tears of joy at the girl's return, while Mister Vase's hands bloom with strange, unprecedented flowers.
"If it's hard to see the sun here, then we'll light glass lanterns for you.
If it's dull and boring here, then let everything spin and dance!"
However, the little heroine has long since been aware of this place's mysteries. Whether it's the soft garden, the familiar old faces, or even herself in a red dress— all naught but tiny fragments made beautiful by illusions of the mind.
Sensing that the girl has no intention to stay, the "home" no longer appears warm and friendly— the service bell behind her cries out; the piano rampages wildly; the vines bear their fangs and brandish claws— everything hinders the girl's steps.
"Stop, stop!" they warn.
Only an invisible gentleman willingly escorts her deeper inside. Under the shelter of his long cloak, the girl watches the shimmering colours gradually fade, and feels herself growing lighter— they have arrived at the crack between reality and illusions, clarity and eternal slumber.
She senses the "home" behind her trembling with grief. A faint, familiar voice pleads: "Is everything here not enough to satisfy you?"
And yet, even as a tiny fragment, the girl still reflects a streak of stubbornness and courage. She takes one final step, and then, dissolves into what seems to be a real room.
There, those familiar things remain— only now, revealed in their true form: A silver dish full of rotten pomegranate seeds, a silent coat rack, an overturned teacup, an old doll, a bed, a spinning wheel, and a key......[1]

Essence Backstory[]
A mysterious foundation sponsors the publication of a novel depicting a foray into a desert. In this fantasy-adventure, the author describes his adventures deep in the yellow sands from his perspective:
He and his team perished in an accident on their adventure. However, after his death, golden scarab guided him alone. He passed the judgment of the feather of truth, escaped the devourer of the dead, crossed the boundary between life and death, met the deities living in a celestial realm deep in the desert, and was reborn.
It is said that the author is an archaeological professor who had narrowly escaped death. He once joined an expedition into the desert, only for the entire team to vanish. Just as they were thought to have died to a sandstorm or quicksand, a group of travelling merchants found the professor unconscious at the edge of the desert. When he was discovered, he seemed healthy, but upon regaining consciousness, he appeared to be in a state of delirium. He began to speak of strange things, claiming to have seen dog-headed soldiers and a queen with a snake tail in a temple in the depths of the desert.
However, these strange rumours did not affect the novel's success. Its descriptions of the majestic and mysterious oasis deep in the yellow sands caused a boost to tourism.
However, the enthusiasm was short-lived, and after the excitement faded, the archaeological professor—who should have been in a mental institution—led a new expedition team into the desert. Perhaps due to the superstition surrounding the novel, most of the team wore golden scarab accessories. Below them, deep under the yellow sands, will they find merciful deities awaiting them?[1]

Essence Backstory[]
Legend has it that rainbows are bridges that connect heaven and earth, able to convey sincere wishes to the sky. From this belief, the Tears of Iris of Rainbow Town were born. The townsfolk hold a magnificent Wine Offering Festival each year to show their gratitude for the goddess's blessings and grace, attracting many visitors. Fragile is a female winemaker who came to Rainbow Town with happy ambitions. Thanks to her skillful brewing, she earned a chance to work at the Count's banquet. However, she accidentally shattered a precious crystal goblet, and unable to pay for its loss, was thrown into prison.... Simultaneously, Rainbow Town's theatre was robbed, and a crafts shop nearby was reduced to ruins by a sudden fire... Yet, on the other side of town, people continued to sing and celebrate throughout the night, seemingly oblivious any trouble unfolding. Intoxicated by the beautiful world created by the Tears of Iris, they watch themselves gradually sober up, and stubbornly sink back into the illusion.... [1]
