Violetta, also known as the Soul Weaver, is a Difficulty Level 1.5 Hunter available for purchase after the completion of the prologue. She is one of 34 playable Hunters added to Identity V.
—Violetta (Closing Night) |
Appearance
Violetta is a physically disabled woman with ghostly white skin and with visible fractures lacing her entire bulbous body, a corpse-like mask with two glowing red pupils in black eyeholes and a cracked mouth, and four sickly pale green, emaciated artificial limbs, with two where her actual arms should be, and two sticking out the back of her body like spider's limbs. Her entire face is completely covered by a somewhat tattered, leather bird-shaped mask with dull green eyes and a matching beak. Crouching spider-like, she also has an additional four mechanical limbs of rusty metal, with two large appendages in front which have blades attached, and two spindly but sharp appendages on the back.
Under her outfit, Violetta is seen to be a fair-skinned woman, with brown round eyes, light pink lips, she has wavy brown hair, with bangs to the right side, and two, identical braids at the side.
She wears a tattered and torn olive shawl with multiple, haphazard stitches, traces of rust, and streaks of blood which covers her entire body. Filthy white linen bandages are wrapped around her limbs, and layers upon layers of matching bandages are wrapped around her entire bulb of a body, soaked through with fresh and dried blood. Spools of white thread sit on her back.
Gameplay
The Soul Weaver starts each match with and accumulates Thread. How much she is holding at any time can be seen in a white horizontal bar along the bottom of the screen. Using this thread, she is able to place strands of Webbing between two obstacles near to each other or spit a Spinning at Survivors. If she touches her threads, she will move faster, while Survivors in contact with her threads have reduced movement speed. She is also able to use her Thread to cocoon downed Survivors rather than chairing them to eliminate them, though the latter is also possible.

Concept / Design Notes[8]
Design Notes

In order to distinguish it from other Hunters, I chose the form of lying on my stomach. In order to fit the image of the spider, sewing machines and doll elements were used, hoping to increase the sense of oppression. Rusty scissors and silk thread, these rustic elements, will have a more contemporary feel when paired with too weird shapes. The main consideration is that the character itself already has a masked face, and she may have a hobby of collecting masks, which can also make the character more realistic (maybe it was removed in the end because it was too scary).
Change Log
- July 25th, 2018
- Addition: The Soul Weaver is now obtainable from the Illusion Hall.
- November 15th, 2018
- Adjustment: Cocoon Death: Adjusted the amount of webbing expended;
- Adjustment: Entangled: Effects have been adjusted. One layer of webbing will reveal the Survivor's location and reduce their interaction speed. Two layers will additionally decrease their movement speed. Three layers greatly decrease Survivor's movement and interaction speed;
- Adjustment: Webbing: Adjusted the way it is released and its effects. The length of webbing no longer affects the expenditure of the webbing skill. Webbing is a spider's natural instinct. Hold the skill button and choose a location to set a cobweb trap. Soul Weaver will gain a brief acceleration that gradually slows when passing cobweb traps. This effect can be stacked up to three times by using new webs. Soul Weaver will be alerted to the location of Survivors that step on a trap and Survivors will become entangled with one layer of webbing; Survivors can be entangled with two layers of webbing;
- Adjustment: Spinning: Modified effects and adjusted the cost of webbing. Spits out a ball of web that entangles its target in a layer of webbing and causes half the damage a normal attack would inflict upon a successful hit. The entangled effect can stack up to three layers;
- Adjustment: Web Attack: Entire iteration. As time passes, the Soul Weaver's spinning ability becomes stronger, speeding up the spinning action and reducing its cost;
- Adjustment: Attribute adjustment: Optimized the angle and slightly decreased the initial amount of webbing.
- December 12th, 2019
- Buff: Adjusted Survivor's rolling mechanism after getting cocooned by the Soul Weaver. Now, cocooned Survivors can no longer roll out of the Manor;
- January 2nd, 2020
- Buff: Reduce the thread cost for Cocoon Death from 80 to 60
- May 16th, 2024
- Buff: Improved the web release logic for Webbing.
- Buff: Increased the Movement Speed boost duration after passing through cobwebs to 2.8 seconds.
- April 24th, 2025
- Buff: Improved Web placement to avoid misplacements behind or inside obstacles where the Soul Weaver couldn't reach.
- Buff: Slightly enlarged the web hitboxes.
- Buff: Reaching Web Attack will increase the Thread Recovery from 1.2/s to 1.4/s
- November 20th, 2025
- Buff: Decreased attack recovery for all attacks by 5%.[9]
Trivia
- She is based on Aloisia 'Violetta' Wagner, a famous German sideshow performer from the early 20th century. She was renowned for having tetra-amelia syndrome.
- In the 2019 Deduction Star event, her quote was "I hate The Ripper!" This is because Jack beat her in the 2018 Deduction Star event.
- In early versions of Identity V, Violetta had a unique carrying animation where she sticks the Survivor on her back. This was changed to her carrying the Survivor with balloons later on.
- When activating Detention with any C-Tier costume other than her Original and Worn Clothes, the red glow on her eyes will be misplaced, instead appearing about an inch or two from her eyes. This is likely an oversight caused by the differences in her masks.
- She was the first female Hunter implemented into the game.
- She is the only Hunter to have a differing model volume, of which is a radius of 0.46 m compared to the standard 0.38 m.
- This makes her more susceptible to Pallet stuns and getting body-blocked in narrow passages.
