Stress is an External Trait that belongs to the "Psychologist", Ada Mesmer. As an external trait, it is a passive ability that the character starts the game with.

Description[]

When her Fear increases, the "Psychologist" undergoes a Stress reaction, regulating her mental condition. For the next 32 seconds, her Fear declines over time (up to half). While Stressed, she cannot be healed by other Survivors, use Syringes, or drink alcohol.

This trait allows Ada to heal damage equal to one normal attack once.

Survivor Tips

  • Because "Psychologist" can take 3 normal hits before being downed, this ability makes her a decent first kiter.
    • This trait can be used to take a hit to transition if you are caught in a poor kiting area.
  • If "Psychologist" is not the first kiter, she can use Empathize to heal another survivor quickly and remain at full health.
  • If "Psychologist" is downed before Stress is fully used, her ability will be active as soon as she is free. However, it will not activate with Tide Turner. Therefore, if "Psychologist" still has Stress, do not rescue her with tide. That sliver of damage healed makes her take 2 hits to be downed against most hunters, making her essentially a full health survivor.
    • Some hunters deal damage differently, which would render this advantage useless.
    • Hunters who deal greater damage than normal are Photographer and Hermit.
  • Stress does not protect against a Terror Shock or Detention.

Hunter Tips

  • Because "Psychologist" can take 3 hits, she is not an easy first chase. If other survivors who are easier to chase are in the area, hit her once to induce the Stress reaction and change targets to waste her resources.
    • If nobody else is in the area, Psychologist can be chased as she has no kiting abilities if Patient is not nearby. You may want to wait for Stress to be used up to down her if your hunter of choice is not Photographer or Hermit.
    • Chip hunters like Sculptor and Guard 26 have an advantage in downing her after a rescue if Stress is still available.
