Identity V Wiki

Tide Turner is a talent that can be equipped to Survivors from the Persona Web. It is the final talent available on the Southern line.

Don't give up! That is how miracles happen.

Gameplay[]

Description[]

After saving a Survivor from a Rocket Chair, both you and the Survivor will be invincible for 20 seconds. During this time you cannot be knocked down or healed. The knocked down damage taken within this time will be applied instantly when the effect dissipates. This ability can only be used once.

Appearance[]

After a successful rescue, both the rescuer and the rescued survivor will be invulnerable from incapacitation for the next 20 Seconds. This is cued by a blue glow (default colour setting) surrounding their health status on the top right of the HUD.

If they receive damage, the total amount of damage apply to the survivor will be delayed until the effect ends. Survivors who have taken enough damage to be incapacitated will be glow to red (default colour setting) and they will enter their incapacitated state immediately once the effect ends.

Uses[]

This trait is used after rescuing teammates from Rocket Chairs, and gives both the rescuer and the rescued time to get away from the area they were initially caught. This makes the rescuer more suitable for rescuing from the Basement and other troublesome areas that favour the Hunters.

  • This talent helps survivors who are being tunnelled or camped by the hunter to have more time for the team to decode if the recently rescued survivor is damaged.
    • Using the invincibility time, their teammates can have more time to finish the last cipher if that survivor brings Borrowed Time to avoid entering their incapacitation state (assuming they only lose 50% of their health).
    • Additionally, survivors can waste more of the hunter's time by going far as from the Rocket Chairs as possible or going to an area where Balloon Rescuers like Forward, Batter and Wildling can easily assist them.
  • Tide Turner is considered as a crucial final talent as Exit Gates can be decoded with Tide Turner activated, meaning that even against a Hunter with Detention the invincibility granted by Tide Turner could turn a game around.
  • This serves as a reliable tool for Rescuers who focuses on Chair Rescuing such as Mercenary or Grave Keeper.

Other Details[]

  • Survivors cannot heal their teammates when those teammates under the Tide Turner effect.
  • While Tide Turner is activated, the Hunter can try to deal more or equal to 50% of the damage (At least 2 Knife/Charged Attacks excluding the "Goatman" due to his External Trait, Shackled) against the Survivor to overwhelm the healing effect of Borrowed Time.
  • When facing the "Undead", healing a Decapitated Survivor will activate Tide Turner.
    • Using Exit Path to heal themselves from being downed will also not activate Tide Turner even if they have it equipped.
  • Survivors under the effects of Tide Turner cannot interact with Map Environments such as Roller Coasters, Merry-Go-Rounds, Slides, Trams, Rope Swings, Minecarts and Lifts, and Horses.

Trivia[]

  • Commonly survivors who are confident in their ability to kite and/or survivors with strong kiting tools already in their kit will carry Tide Turner to be more useful to their team.
  • Like other Traits in Identity V, this has a similar functionality to a Perk from Dead by Daylight, namely Borrowed Time prior to its rework. The Perk also granted a period of damage-delaying resistance to both the rescuer and the rescued survivor during the ability's duration. However, it would be given a rework that removed protection for the rescuing Survivor in exchange for giving it unlimited uses, and its effects were later made a default interaction with the perk instead increasing their duration.
    • The Perk ironically shares its name with the Borrowed Time trait from Identity V, despite having completely different functions.
