Identity V Wiki

My name is Tomie.

Tomie Kawakami or Kawakami Tomie is a Limited S-Tier Costume for the Dream Witch, Yidhra. The costume is a crossover from the manga/anime series 'Junji Ito Collection' by the works of Japanese horror manga artist Junji Ito. It was introduced during the Junji Ito Collection Crossover Stage 3 - The Beauty of Endless Deaths during July 2019.

Availability[]

Despite being a true Limited Costume (which are denoted by the "limited" tag found in the top right of certain card icons), it can return in the Junji Ito Collection Crossover, along with the other costumes, several times if its crossover series gets a re-release or another part of the collaboration.

Appearance[]

Yidhra[]

Physical[]

Yidhra's appearance is heavily altered to match that of Tomie Kawakami's as she appears in the first volume of the Tomie series, which is simply titled "Tomie". Yidhra now sports black flowy hair that just reaches her chest along with messy eyeliner that flows down her face in streaks.

Outfit[]

Yidhra's normal serpentine body is replaced with abnormally long humanoid legs, she also adorns a black school uniform with a white under shirt that mimics the one worn in the manga volume the costume is based on.

Special Effects[]

Random patches of black fog will surround Yidhra, while she is walking or vaulting windows the fog will follow with a slight delay in its position. This effect only appears around Yidhra and will not effect her Followers.

Followers[]

Physical[]

Similar to Yidhra, her Followers appearance's are altered to mimic Tomie Kawakami from another volume of the Tomie series, which is titled "Photograph". The Followers now have slightly messy black hair that reaches their shoulders.

Outfit[]

They adorn a traditional Japanese school uniform with a white sailor-style blouse and a black pleated skirt.

Weapon[]

The Follower weapons appearance is changed to a bright red pickaxe with a black base, the ends of the pickaxe blades are each a different color, one side is black while the other is white. There is barbed wire wrapped around the top of the pickaxe blade which travels down the handle.

Special Effects[]

While Yidhra recieved an effect, the Followers received no effects for this costume.

Showroom[]

Tomie Kawakami is one of the few costumes in-game that has voice lines in their showroom animation.

"私?富江って言うのよ。"
"My name is Tomie."

Design Notes[1][]

In this collaboration, Goddess Kawakami Tomie will appear in the S costume of the Dream Witch. The Dream Witch transforms into the way Kawakami Tomie looked when she was in school, wearing a Japanese school uniform, which perfectly restores the classic Kawakami Tomie's look. She has long, straight and smooth black hair flying in the wind, tied with a white headband. Even a student's attire can't hide her cold glamor. Just a slight sideways glance, and the tear mole at the corner of her eye can confuse all living beings. The little follower next to the Dream Witch also transformed into a copy of Tomie Kawakami. She was also wearing a short-sleeved school uniform, but she looked younger, dragging a heavy pickaxe in her right hand. The two of them looked harmonious, as if they were students who really took the train to school together. The hollow eyes of the follower Jean Pierre, paired with an exaggerated smile, and the Straw Eyeball, a accessory, will bring additional surprises to players.

Trivia[]

  • This is one of two costumes where Dream Witch doesn't have a serpentine-like body, the other costume being Envoy.
    • Due to the nature of the model, Dream Witch still often receives unique animations for these costumes including unique animations for in-game actions, emotes, standby motions, and interactable furniture.
  • In most promotional content for this costume it depicts Tomie Kawakami with blood dripping from her eyes, but when she was released in-game the blood was changed to a black eyeliner.
    • There are still assets for this costume that used the blood instead of eyeliner in the files, but they're currently unused in-game.
