Trap is an ability that belongs to Gamekeeper, Bane Perez. It is an active ability that the character starts the game with.
Official Details[]
Description[]
Bane can place a trap at his location. Survivors who step on the trap will be imprisoned for 8 seconds. Survivors can disarm traps placed in the open area and get their imprisoned teammates out from a trap. Once they get out of a trap, these Survivors will be visible to Bane for 5 seconds, but they won't be imprisoned by another trap during this period. There can be a maximum of 8 traps in the scene. When the maximum limit is exceeded, the first trap placed in the scene will be automatically destroyed. Traps can't be placed in or near a Basement, neither can they be placed within 20 meters of a Rocket Chair that has a Survivor on it, and any traps placed beforehand will be automatically destroyed.
Statistics[]
- Energy Charge Duration: 50 second(s)
- Energy Charge Count: 2/3 time(s)
Gameplay[]
Gamekeeper can deploy his Traps to immobilize a survivor who steps into it. Survivors caught by the Trap are unable to move nor use their abilities for 8 Seconds, but they can be quickly freed if there is a teammate nearby. Traps are commonly used for tight and cramp areas where the survivor is forced to change their kiting routes or leave the area and risk damage from the Gamekeeper, as well as objective areas such as Cipher Machines, Exit Gates, and Dungeon to delay and prevent survivors from completing their objectives.
However, the Gamekeeper cannot place his Traps if they are within 20 meters from the active Rocket Chair or right next to the Basement.
Other Details[]
- Gamekeeper cannot place Traps in or near the Basement.
- Gamekeeper can hear his Traps being activated or dismantled anywhere from the map.
- Flywheel Effect can activate the Trap without trapping the user.
- Gardener's Protection and Seer's Owl can activate a single Trap without trapping them.
- Embalmer's Rebirth can activate Traps without trapping them during the 7 second period.
- Gamekeeper cannot set up traps near the active Rocket Chairs within 20 meters. Any Traps that are already set near the active Rocket Chair within the range will de-spawn with no refund.
- The Gamekeeper can hook a Survivor imprisoned by a trap.
- Traps can be placed over open or closed dungeons.
Hunter Tips
- This is very effective to end kiting loops forcing the survivor to transition to another area.
- Use the sound sues from the trap being dismantled as a hint to locate survivors.
- Be sure the memorise the Trap locations and notice any difference if the Trap is dismantled.
- Sometimes, it is best if you chair a survivor as far as possible from the Trap. Especially if the traps are set at the strongest kiting spots and chock-points for the survivors which is useful for wasting rescuers' time and is beneficial for the end game.
- Use the surroundings and conceal your trap in places where it is hard for Survivors to see or react quickly such as grasses, corners, staircases, closed dungeons, and etc.
- Traps can still be helpful for camping even though they cant be placed near rocket chairs. If you see a survivor coming to rescue you can hook them into a trap placed a distance away, making them late to rescue.
Survivor Tips
- Survivors should be aware and vigilant on where they are going when chased by the Gamekeeper.
- Survivors should use Flywheel Effect to run through the trap without being immobilized by trap when chased.
- If you see a trap on the map in an area where nobody is currently kiting, remove the trap so that nobody gets caught later on.
- If you see Gamekeeper deploying a Trap, use this as a chance to transit to another area.
- Be careful of his Chain Hook during the transition.
Trivia[]
- This ability was added to Bane on March 25th, 2021 (Global Server).
- Ironically, despite it being one of the Gamekeeper's abilities, it is one of Gamekeeper's Dislikes according to his Character Day event. However, there are possible reasons why Gamekeeper uses them regardless:
- It is possible that the Gamekeeper is using it to show the humans what is it like to get hurt by an Animal Trap as he despise poachers, and is blamed for causing his beloved, Black Nose's death.
- Though it is possible that the Gamekeeper is using it to hurt Survivors as he doesn't consider them (Humans) as Animals.
- Previously, the Traps in the Darkwoods map would expose the location of the Survivors and the Hunter if they were to step on them. If Gamekeeper was the hunter, the traps would instead function as normal (imprisoned for 8 seconds).
