Vaultable Windows are a type of map obstacle that Survivors can use to escape from the Hunter and put a wall or obstacle between them, similar to dropped Pallets.
Overview[]
Windows are obstacles that are featured on every Map for both the Survivors and Hunters to interact with. Generally, Survivors will vault over windows faster than the Hunter, so they can use it to gain distance from the Hunter.
However, should the Hunter attack a Survivor with their weapon, the vaulting Survivor will get Terror Shock and is instantly incapacitated.
Do note that certain Survivors with physical backgrounds such as the Mercenary, Forward, or Batter can vault over windows faster. Whereas Survivors without these backgrounds such as the Mechanic, or The Mind's Eye will vault slower.
Each of the Hunters has their own unique speed of vaulting over a window.
When approaching a window that can be vaulted, the player will be given a prompt to perform their vaulting animation (bottom-right button for mobile, and spacebar for PC (by default)). Survivors can vault or crawl over the window depending on the momentum, but every Hunter has a unique vaulting animation.

Gameplay[]
These have a static/unchanging location on every map, and are commonly used by Survivors in order to escape from the Hunter. Only 1 player can go through a Window at a time. Windows cannot be broken (with the exception of some found on Chinatown).
- If a survivor gets successfully hit by a Hunter during the vault animation, they will be afflicted with Terror Shock.
- Survivors will always vault through these windows faster than Hunters; The only exception is if they are fully slowed by Soul Weaver's Webbing, Wu Chang's Lost Soul and Spiritless, Violinist's Terrifying Melody.
- Chinatown has multiple vaultable windows that can only be used 4 times (Hunter and Survivor included) before it crumbles. The appearance of the wall will change after the 3rd vault, warning the player it is about to crumble.
- On Red Church, certain reddish breakable walls can be broken (pushed by survivors or attacked by hunters) to create a vaultable window.
Tips[]
- A Final Persona Talent for survivors, called Knee Jerk Reflex, gives survivors a noticable speed boost after vaulting through a window.
- A Final Persona Talent for Hunters, called Confined Space, will block any/all windows for a brief time after the hunter vaults through one.
- Frequently used (and abused) vaultable windows are those in the small shack/building on every map, as well as almost any window found on the second floor of a taller building.
- Examples include the window at the top of the stairs in the funhouse in Moonlit River Park, the window in the back of Red Church, and the multiple second-story windows found on Eversleeping Town.
- Slower Survivor Vaults: Mind's Eye (The slowest), Doctor, Mechanic, Priestess
- Fastest Survivor Vaults: Wildling (while riding Boar), Forward, Batter
- The Hunters can block Survivor from vaulting are Wu Chang (Siphon Soul prevents survivors from interacting with windows) Wax Artist (Blocking windows with wax for 12 seconds) hence preventing the Survivor from vaulting towards it.
- Hell Ember's Phantom can vault crumbly windows from Chinatown, he can use this to his advantage to cut routes or break the window.
