Antonio, also known as the Violinist, is a Difficulty Level 1.5 Hunter in Identity V available for purchase after the completion of the prologue. He is one of 31 playable Hunters added to Identity V.
—Antonio (Deduction Quest No. 7) |
Appearance
Antonio is a slender man with small eyes hidden completely beneath a messy tangle of long, seemingly alive black hair, a hooked nose, a somewhat lipless mouth split into an unnerving grin with two rows of sickly yellowish-grey teeth, and faint stitches on his hands.
He wears a long, torn, moth-eaten dull greyish-purple coat with fraying coattails and a pale grey daisy brooch with a purple center and a pearl set in the middle pinned to the right side of the coat, a dull mauve vest with a single black button, a white collared shirt with a matching silk ascot tie, skinny yellowish-grey trousers with multiple haphazard grey stitches, and pointed leather shoes. A long strand of his hair holds a long violin bow, while another an old violin in its clutches.
Gameplay
The Violinist is a Hunter who specializes in slowing down Survivors. He can utilize his music to produce terrifying notes, reducing all Survivors' movement, decoding, healing, and gate-opening speed drastically. He can also play two subsequent notes to damage Survivors upon their immediate generation, and when within the area of the two notes' effect, he can produce multiple notes to damage Survivors. As such, he can control the map quite easily while preventing Survivors from escaping quickly.

Concept / Design Notes
Official Website[7]
The magic strings are pulled, and the sound of the piano is astonishing. The black hair is flowing, and you can understand the rhythm of all things.
Rhythmic instinct, pulling the bowstring makes the magic sound tremble
The originally elegant performance costumes were badly damaged after that weird peak performance. The slender arms and fingers are due to his innate extraordinary talent, and the shocking scars are caused by the devilish skills of the performance.

The violinist's hands drooped, and his movements were twisted like a puppet, waiting, hoping that the devil would come to his body again, control his hands, dance the bow, and reproduce the inhuman figure in the melody. The violin and bow strings are entangled in the scattered black hair, and from time to time they play a trembling melody. Is this the original rhythm of the world, or is it the strange skill of the devil?
Social Media[8]
Hello everyone! I've been in charge of the characterization of several survivors before, and the Violinist is the first hunter I've been in charge of (The other two copywriters have produced all of the previous hunters' wonderful creations, so I'm impressed by their talent!)
Skill Pack
The interns in charge of combat design meticulously considered the current game environment, and set the new regulator's long-range attack with the ability to cross obstacles!
When making a set of skills, we wanted to give some realistic basis for the reasonableness of the skills based on realistic experiences - such as the Perfumer's, Prospector's, and Cowboy's - rather than jumping straight into a world of magic.
And here, the skill passing through obstacles becomes a difficult point. After giving up the idea of physical escape (Gravekeeper is approaching), traps (Mad Eyes is approaching), lightning, fire and water, etc., I chose the concept of sound.
The new skill of connecting dots to form a line is a distance reference to the violin, an elegant and mysterious stringed instrument.
Prototype
The demon-possessed violinist was a major source of inspiration for the persona. As one of the greatest violinists of all time, there are many legends surrounding him. I chose one of the dramatic versions as an element of her persona, thank you for your understanding, and thank you for your kind reminders~
In addition, I also hope that the character is able to go beyond the elegance of a musician and to have the qualities of [playing in a frenzy] and [being manipulated in the sink] (laughs).
Silhouette Design
Under the strict supervision of the main makeup master (crying), the new hunter's body type and temperament must be pulled away from the existing hunters (again for the wonderful people to worship! There is not much room left for newcomers). In addition to the basic traits such as being tall and thin, the long hair design used by the original artists has become a major feature of this character.
Finally, a violinist who had been possessed by the devil was born:
Antonio is a man burdened by his talent. His torn hands are scarred because of the demonic techniques performed. After the accidental end of his peak performance, his consciousness is hypnotized by the magical sounds that surround him, and the rhythms of the world spread infinitely before his eyes. The string of the violin are plucked by scattered hair, the very instinct of his being in the rhythm. The Violinist's hands hang down, waiting and anticipating for the demon to possess his body, to move his bow, and recreate that inhuman figure in the melody.
[The next part will be handed over to our character designers to talk about the birth process of the design drawings]
Initial Sketches
Now it is me (the person in charge of the design process for the Violinist). In the initial stage of character creation, we designed three versions of sketches according to the initial idea of the planning interns, and the focus of the design was to highlight the professional characteristics of the Violinist.

However, judging on the design results, although the professional characteristics are obvious enough, the overall image looks rather ordinary, whether in terms of silhouette or creativity, not enough special features, and there are no memorable points. Therefore, after discussion, we tried to find a breakthrough in terms of body type, attack mode, action mode, and interaction between weapons.

The exaggerated body proportions, the puppet-like movement, and the hair driven interactions of the entire character were combined with the above test drafts to create the image of Antonio, the Violinist.

Trivia
- As he was called "Paganini" before being released, he is most likely based off of Niccolò Paganini, an Italian violinist, guitarist, and composer. He was known to have written extremely difficult violin pieces, while still playing his violin flawlessly. In fact, because he played so well it was rumored that he sold his soul to the devil.
- His character day is the same day as Paganini's birthday.
- Interestingly, Paganini's father was also named Antonio.
- He is one of the hunters that will sing during matches, the others including Jack, Mary and Michiko.
- If you look closely on his violin, it only has one string.
