You-know-who is the codename of an organization mainly led by Villhelm Lamb, alongside other leaders, one of them being Evelyn Mora, the "Faro Lady". This organization mainly consists of spies, medical professionals, social networks and chemists.
Description[]
It is unknown when You-know-who was established, but Villhelm Lamb had likely already founded the organization before he adopted Alice DeRoss at the age of 14. The exact location of the organization is also in Liverpool, England,[1] as the experiments on Alice were conducted in Melbourne, Australia, yet she and Coordinator are from England. Therefore, it could be assumed the organization doesn't have a fixed location, or that it does, but members have to occasionally travel overseas to different places, such as Melbourne, Australia and Cape Town, South Africa.
Backstory[]
Currenly much is unknown about the organization's leaders, excluding Evelyn Mora. Evelyn was a "faro lady" who was mentored by her adoptive mother, Mrs. Darragh, on how to use tricks and disguises for her own gain. When Evelyn's mother was fighting with a creditor over her debt, Evelyn defended her, but accidentally shot and killed the creditor. Evelyn became a fugitive, but used her skills of disguise and tricks to escape arrest. Evelyn continued evading arrest until Mrs. Darragh caught a severe lung disease, which was used as a set-up for a trap by Villhelm Lamb.
Shortly after, a letter from a social network in Cape Town reaches to Mrs. Darragh's address. It applauded her success in guiding Evelyn's efforts to avoid being caught as a real "faro lady" but remarks that the gentleman, such as Villhelm Lamb, has no intention to rescue Evelyn as she must endure her trials alone that will further temper her loyalty. The sender also identifies Mrs. Darragh’s health decline and warns her to avoid encountering Villhelm’s “Lordship” in Liverpool, hinting an unresolved danger or debt.
Evelyn's mother needed immediate treatment, which she could receive easily if Evelyn signs up a 10 year-long contract, for the duration of which she must become a tutor for young women, teach them her skills and make them become new "faro ladies", and he will treat her mother and take care of her for the rest of her life. With no other choice, Evelyn agreed, and was bailed out and became an official member, leader, and tutor.
The students were all young women, and only two are currently known: "Martha Behamfil", someone who surpasses Evelyn's talents at disguise, and Alice DeRoss, the adoptive daughter of Evelyn's boss, Villhelm. There have been showcases of other women, however, all of them are currently unnamed and cannot be identified.
By the ninth year, as Evelyn was near the end of her contract, her most rebellious student was reported to have left the organization after she adopted a fake identity of Martha Behamfil and discarded Margaretha Hari, imposing as a Coordinator with military training experiences. However, Villhelm provided the student's last known location for Evelyn to track down called Oletus Manor.
Villhelm Lamb is also a medical professor, who conducted experiments on Alice, alongside "Orpheus" and Sam Bourbon, while not confirmed, this could be his main occupation, just like how Evelyn's is to teach young women to become "faro ladies." With the help of "Orpheus", Alice fled Melbourne and flew back to England, becoming a journalist, and attempts to investigate the tragedy that happened in the Oletus Manor, her old home, in which her parents have been murdered.
The organization has also been mentioned to have a traitor, who was meant to be urgently found, their current status is unknown.
The organization has very likely close connections to the Oletus Manor and its experiments during the Manor Games. It's possibly one of the sponsors, just like how the Barriere Family is, however its currently hard to know for certain.
Most currently known members happen to be connected to the Manor, Alice, Evelyn, "Martha", as well as "Orpheus" and Sam, have went to the Manor, as participants and/or working behind the scenes.
Alternate Theories and Conclusions[]
- The "Observer" may possibly be a real name of the organization whereas "You-know-who" was only a codename they used to keep themselves hidden from view. According to Perfumer's 2025 Letter, Alice mentions herself to be an observer while investigating Chloe's disappearance after she took her twin sister, Vera's life and impersonating her status. This could also explain her Investigation Field Notes given that she's the writer who is currently exploring people's unknown pasts.[2]
- This theory can be supported in Coordinator's 2025 Letter, as Alice also mentions that she has a team who are still currently focused on Michiko's whereabouts when the Behamfils' private investigator attempted to propose a collaboration case with her. However, it is currently unknown if this could be referred to this organization or another faction that's mysteriously powerful.
- Sam Bourbon might be one of the other leaders, as Journalist's 2024 Letter mentions he had an office, this could mean he was responsible for the experiments and drug testing of the organization.
- The traitor mentioned in Barmaid's 2022 Letter could be "Martha Behamfil", as she betrayed Evelyn, and might've been responsible for the other betrayals, however, the possibility of more than one traitor is there, and it could be about somebody else.
- "Orpheus" could be a traitor, as it was thanks to him that Alice fled, this could've been seen as an act of betrayal.
- Villhelm Lamb may have had planned to use Mrs. Darragh and her daughter from a long time, evident from Evelyn's 1st Deduction being an outside POV, that might've planned to become friends with her, possibly for ulterior motives.
- Within "Faro Lady" Backstory Trailer, during the ending scene of the video, besides Evelyn, "Martha", and Alice, a fourth person could be spotted far away, somewhat close to Alice. This woman likely is one of Evelyn's students, and might hint at her possible arrival to the Manor. Whether this means if she will become playable or not is currently unknown.
- Alice's colleague is highly likely to also be a member of the organization and she kept in touch with or coincidentally met Alice after her escape. She fits the description Evelyn's students have, which is wearing knee-length coats and bowler hats that conceal their faces from view. We have never seen her face, despite appearing in both Alice's Background Story Trailer, as well an Ashes of Memory cutscene, we still do not know much about her.
